Thursday 30/09/2010 AmsterSam @ The Treehouse Slightly edited shot of myself and the 'ABC Treehouse', reflected on a restaurant window in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some playing around with contrast and saturation and a bit of cropping, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Tomorrow is the big day, the 'MultiCulti' photo exhibition at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11 will have it's grand opening, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, free drinks and food (provided by our friends from ArchiChef :), bring all your friends and meet the Artists Miss Monyart, Miss Melissa Scholten, Miss Patricia Ribas and last but not least, this wicked Reflectah in person, we're all looking forward to seeing you in real life :)) Wednesday 29/09/2010 The Naked Reflectah Unedited shot of myself and a borrowed cam, reflected in a mirror in Amsterdam. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This Friday you can meet me in person at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11 for the grand opening of the 'MultiCulti'* photo exhibition, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, free entry. There'll be drinks and we are also very proud and excited about the fact that our good friends from ArchiChef agreed to supply us with some of their super-delicious Design-food for the opening, yay...if you ask me nicely, I might even streak the crowd, once I'm drunk enough, hahaha ;-D *Please note that the 'MultiCulti' show is part of GRID 2010, 4th International Photography Biennial, and of course the 'AmsterSam World Domination Plan'! Tuesday 28/09/2010 Headless From The Excitement Unedited shots of bikers reflected in a puddle on the Rokin in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Friday, October 1st, my new Photo Exhibition will start at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11 (no, not the 'ABC Bookstore' on the Spuiplein!). The name is 'MultiCulti', and you can see a series of exclusive, unseen reflection pictures there. The other lovely people showing their photos with me are Miss Monyart, Miss Melissa Scholten and Miss Patricia Ribas. Free coffee&booze from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, meet us there for a drink and a chat, we're all looking forward to seeing you in real life :) Headless Movie And because of this special occasion, I've made a movie of this puddle too, view it on my YouTube channel :) Monday 27/09/2010 The Race To The Opening Unedited shots of a biker reflected in a puddle on the Rokin in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This week Friday, October 1st, my next Photo Exhibition will open at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11 (not to be confused with the 'ABC Bookstore' on the Spuiplein!), it's called 'MultiCulti', and I have created a series of exclusive, unseen reflection pictures for the show. The other Artists displaying their photos there with me are the talented and lovely Miss Monyart, Miss Melissa Scholten and Miss Patricia Ribas. I'm sure it's gonna be a cool, fun event and you should join us, I believe there'll be some free coffee&booze from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, and we're all gonna be there to meet you and shake your hand :) Here's the whole shebang again, in case you were lazy, and didn't read the stuff above, hehe: From October 1 - October 30 you can see some of my wicked reflection photos at the 'MultiCulti' exhibition at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11, Fridays – Sundays, 1PM-6PM. ('MultiCulti' is part of GRID 2010, 4th International Photography Biennial). The Race Movie Of course I've made a movie of that puddle as well, check it out on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Sunday 26/09/2010 Leave This Puddle Now! Slightly edited shots of people at the Spuiplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some playing around with contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday I went downtown to shoot some new wicked reflections, the weather was perfect, lots of rain, lots of crazy wicked light and manymany people in the streets, watching me doing my thing, wondering out loud why this dude is sitting next to a puddle, waving a camera at it, and I saw some of them standing behind or besides me, trying to shoot me secretly, but I just splashed them with dirty puddle water and kicked them in the shins with the front wheel of my bike, lol...nah, I didn't, I'm a nice guy, I explained to them what I was doing, gave them the address of my website and took some shots of them as well, just the way it should be :) Leave This Puddle Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of the puddle people too, check it out on my YouTube page! Saturday 25/09/2010 Indian Summer Beauty Unedited shots of bikers at the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Today is a lovely, sunny day in the best city in the world and I'm going to make the most out of my free time by grabbing my good old C905 mobile phone, my Panasonic, and my latest Gadget, a tinytiny HD video camera that I'm still trying to figure out, and shoot some pictures and movies. HD is a new world for me and I am not sure yet if I like it, I think it's a bit like changing from records to CDs, it's just a whole different thing that you either love or hate...to be able to properly compare my regular movies with the HD films, I've shot the same puddle with both cams, you can see the results on my YouTube page...have a nice weekend, enjoy the sunshine, rain, or whatever you're being served with today, it's all good :)) Indian Summer Beauty Movies I've made some wicked movies of this puddle too, watch them on my YouTube page! AmsterSam Goes HD! Slightly edited shots of myself and my latest toy, a tinytiny HD video camera. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some fiddling with contrast and saturation. As you might know, I like Gadgets and I also like showing off the new stuff that I purchase right here, mostly they're tools necessary to assist me on my way towards realizing the noble goals of the 'AmsterSam World Domination Plan', a cause that you should start supporting some time soon, as one of its main rules is that if you're not with us, you're against us (hey, what can I say, I learned from the best, lol ;)), and those opposing my stern, yet caring World Domination Desires shall get to know those sides of me that we all prefer to keep hidden in the dark corners of my being, and even though it'll probably hurt me more than them, my iron fist will slam down and crush those fools...oh, sorry, I got carried away there, hehe...what I meant to say was, check out the first puddle reflection movie I shot with the HD cam and compare it to the movie shot with the regular cam :) Friday 24/09/2010 From Holland With Love! Unedited shots of random scenes in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. Today I feel a bit weird, I've slept very long but not well, woke up at 4:20 (!!) in the night and couldn't get back to sleep anymore, because the last living Mosquito in the Netherlands kept circling around my head, now I'm sitting here, trying to wake up with lots of coffee and ciggies, glad and happy that it's weekend for me already and that I don't have to go to work, looking forward to doing relaxed, fun things in the next 3 days, and of course preparing for the opening of my next photo Exhitibition at the 'ABC Treehouse', it's called 'MultiCulti' and all the details are below, hope to see you there...thank God it's Friday :D From October 1 - October 30 you can see some of my wicked reflection photos at the 'MultiCulti' exhibition at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11, Fridays – Sundays, 1PM-6PM. ('MultiCulti' is part of GRID 2010, 4th International Photography Biennial) Thursday 23/09/2010 Iam Tired Of Those Letters! Unedited shots of the giant 'Iamsterdam' letters at the Museumplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. OK, OK, this is the last post with pictures of those darn giant 'Iamsterdam' letters, at least for the next year or so, I can't see them anymore and I voluntarily leave them to the tourists to climb on them, crouch inside of them, stand in front, next or between them, and take those always identical vacation shots of themselves with (probably) Amsterdam's most viewed landmark. I'm sure if city hall would have known how popular these babies will be, they would have thought of a way to charge people for having their photo taken with them, that's just how they roll, hehe :) Iam Tired Movie Check out the wicked reflection movie I've also made of the tourists shooting the letters on my YouTube page! Wednesday 22/09/2010 I AmsterSam's Shadow Slightly edited shots of me and the shadows of the giant 'Iamsterdam' letters at the Museumplein in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some messing with contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Of course being at the Museumplein and watching the tourists take their pictures on top of the giant letters, I could not resist snapping some shots of the shadows on the backside...a bit less suspicious and obvious than kneeling in front of them next to a puddle, the tourists really had a great time trying to figure out what I was doing, and I'm sure lots of them shot me shooting them...almost weekend :))) Tuesday 21/09/2010 Iam(sterdam) Waiting For Christmas Unedited shots of the giant 'Iamsterdam' letters at the Museumplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. As you might have noticed already, my puddle pictures lately often contain leaves, hinting at the end of the Summer and the unstoppable approach of the colder Seasons...I'm really looking forward to Christmas already, the lights, the smells and of course the gifts, the food and the quality time spend with loved ones...is September too early to start about Christmas?! Not really, I guess, since it's almost Spring again and the birds and the bees, the flowers and the trees will start their old game again :-)) AmsterS@m @ The Treehouse From October 1 - October 30 you can see some of my wicked reflection photos at the 'MultiCulti' exhibition at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11, Fridays – Sundays, 1PM-6PM. ('MultiCulti' is part of GRID 2010, 4th International Photography Biennial), yay :D Monday 20/09/2010 We Are Amsterdam Unedited shots of tourists posing with the giant 'Iamsterdam' letters at the Museumplein in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. For a change no reflection, I figured if everybody takes their photo with the letters the way they are, unreflected, I might as well give it a try and see what that looks like. I've put the camera on the ground for a nice low angle and the sun was shining in my face, so I could not see what I was shooting (as is often the case with my puddle pictures too, due to the way I take them, I usually can't see the display and have no idea what's going on, I just keep pushing the shutter button until I feel that there are enough good ones :) but I think these turned out nicely...thank you my dear tourists, for posing for me, hehe. Have a good week :) Sunday 19/09/2010 Iamsterdam Generations Unedited shots of tourists at the giant 'Iamsterdam' letters on the Museumplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I just love those giant letters and I've taken many shots of them in the last years, but not as much as they tourists love them...there is a constant stream of visitors posing in front, inside or on top of the letters for their vacation shots, always making me wonder how many millions of identical Amsterdam photos are being admired around the planet by the friends and families of those posers once they come back home. And I bet not a single one of them is a wicked reflection, proving once again that if you want things done right, you'll have to do them yourself, hehe. Have a nice, relaxed Sunday, only do things today that will help you gain Equilibrium of your soul :) Iamsterdam Generations Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, you can nicely see those 2 boys climbing around and posing for the camera, check it out on my YouTube page! Saturday 18/09/2010 Can't Touch This Unedited shots of buildings and people reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Since I have started shooting reflection photos, I've noticed other Flickr members copying my style, trying to take proper puddle pictures in the same wicked ways that I've invented and developed throughout the years, feeding off my creativity instead of coming up with their own shizzle and usually I don't mind, being imitated is the highest form of flattery they say, I often gets props and credits from the other Reflectahs and many of them even put a link to my stream or my website in the description of their photos, an honor and delight I very much appreciate, and that puts unhealthy visions into my feeble mind of whole armies of wicked Reflectionists marching behind me on my road towards total World Domination ...but sometimes, just for a split-second, a thought flashes through my egg-shaped head, another vision, of me dunking the heads of the style-biters, the idea-thiefs, the brain-pickers, the unwicked ones, into the deepest puddle I can find, screaming at them in a high-pitched, hysterical (and yes, somewhat girlish) voice "Come up with your own sh*t, stop copying what I do and if you must, at least add something new, give something back, invent an interesting angle, do something that makes me admire you!" but I guess they wouldn't be able to hear that anyway, what with their ears being full of dirty puddle water and all, hahaha. Anyway, if you bite my style, I'll just outwicked you and take even better pictures and movies, that'll teach you (hopefully ;)! Have a wonderful weekend, take it easy :)) Can't Touch This Movie I've made a wicked movie of this puddle too, watch it on my YouTube page! Friday 17/09/2010 Golden Puddle Galore Unedited shots of bikers in front of the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. In the last 10 years Amsterdam has been turned into a giant construction site, we're getting a new Metro-line that nobody needs (a tram line already exists above-ground that services the exact same route in a very satisfactory manner), all the streets are re-paved with stones in the same colors as the sidewalks, unnecessarily confusing the (already disoriented) tourists, causing them to constantly linger in the middle of the road, becoming easy victims of the vicious traffic. We are renovating the Royal Palace on the Dam square, Central Station, the Rijksmuseum, the Red-Light District and any other landmark and important part of the best city in the world that you can name, all at the same time, at astronomic costs, and for no obvious reason besides the fact that our former mayor Job Cohen (who never liked Amsterdam) and his 2 henchmen Lodewijk Asscher (the head behind the 'clean up' of the city-center) and Els Iping did not like that Amsterdam is what it is, a rotten, unhealthy, charming, lovable, wicked place of sin and fun, and tried with all their might (and our money), to transform it into a child-safe, boring, clean, Christian village that is identical to any other place in the Netherlands...luckily this is still a Democracy, sort of, and except for Lodewijk, they're all gone now and we can slowly try to revert Adam back to the sleazy, cool Sin City it used to be, yay. Oh yeah, I just remembered why I started this rant, I wanted to say that due to all the renovation works, a lot of streets were redone in a way that there were no puddles anymore, that's why you haven't seen any shots of the Amstel Hotel from this angle in a while, but now, due to the shoddy work of our streetmakers, there are plenty of humps, bumps and holes in the pavement again and puddles are born every day, making me a happy man, fully appreciative of the creative use of my tax money, that I gladly pay if the outcome is more puddles in new spots, hahaha...thank God it's Friday :D Puddle Galore Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube page! Thursday 16/09/2010 *** Happy 4th Flickr Birthday To Me :)) *** Slightly edited phone cam Selfportraits, shot with the timer of my mobile, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Today is my 4th Flickr Birthday, yay! 4 years ago I've uploaded my first shot to Flickr and I never regretted it, manymany good things have happened to me, I've met manymany very nice people online and offline, I've been part of Exhibitions, Museum-events, fashion photo shoots and many other wicked, exciting things because of this lovely website, and I would not want to miss a second of the fun :)) Thank you all so much for making this possible, without you, this would just be another narcissistic, glossy show-off site, a foolish instrument and playground for vain, spoiled people who can't stop posting their ohsopwetty self portraits to the InterWebs, haha...have a wonderful day, there's some Champagne over there by the buffet, help yourself :D Wednesday 15/09/2010 AmsterCircles Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of myself reflected on the backlight of a car in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing besides some messing around with contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. You may have heard of the worldfamous crop circles already, but did you know that there are also AmsterCircles out there?! They appear out of nowhere on reflective surfaces and (not too surprisingly really) usually contain a wicked Reflectah pointing some kind of photographic device at the viewer...no, wait, at himself...the viewer...oh well, he's pointing that thing at somebody and just a few days later, mysterious AmsterCircles will pop up all over them InterWebs, hahaha...yeah, I know, I'm a funny guy, mhehehehe ;-P AmsterSmiles Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of myself reflected on the door handle of a car in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing besides some messing around with contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Cars can be such a source of inspiration when it comes to wicked reflections, and I've shot my share over the years, so I guess it's good if we keep them around for another couple of years, even if it means destroying life on this planet with them, it's worth it, anything for art, lol ;-P Tuesday 14/09/2010 AmsterS@m Loves You Long Time! Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of myself reflected on the side of a car in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing besides flipping the image horizontally (so that you can read the message :), and some messing around with contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. It's been a while since I've started this whole Flickr thing, and I have to say it's been (and still is!) fun times! Thanks to Flickr and the lovely community around it I was able to realize the early stages of the 'AmsterS@m World Domination Plan', and now I am proud to announce another important stepping-stone towards total AmsterS@mmification of this planet: From October 1 - October 30 you can see some of my wicked reflection photos at the 'MultiCulti' exhibition at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11, Fridays – Sundays, 1PM-6PM. ('MultiCulti' is part of GRID 2010, 4th International Photography Biennial), yay :D Monday 13/09/2010 The Unbearable Lightness of Being Unedited shots of buildings and a biker reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. The Indian Summer is upon us and the puddles in the best city in the world are filled with leaves, adding a lovely colorful touch to my wicked reflections and making it seem a bit less horrible to think about the fact that in just a couple of weeks all the trees will be naked again, our noses will start running, our hands will get clammy and clumsy and we'll start looking for Christmas presents for our loved ones...the good news (of course there's good news, there always is :) is that Spring is just around the corner, yay...have a great Monday, almost weekend :D Lightness Movie I could not resist shooting a wicked movie of this puddle as well, and it's of course on my YouTube page! Sunday 12/09/2010 The Golden Season Unedited shots of bikers and buildings on the Damrak, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. As much as I mourn the end of the Summer, I welcome the colder seasons with open arms...even though it never gets reallyreally hot in the Netherlands, I easily overheat and have to wear T-shirts and shorts while others already hide under layers of jackets, scarfs and gloves. This is a feature that makes me very popular with the ladies, as we (men) all know, women always have cold feet and a man who has excessive body heat to offer is wanted almost as much as a rich, good-looking man, lucky me, hahaha. Have a relaxed Sunday :)) Golden Season Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube page! AmsterS@m The Exhibition From October 1 - October 30 you can see some of my wicked reflection photos at the 'MultiCulti' exhibition at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11, Fridays – Sundays, 1PM-6PM. ('MultiCulti' is part of GRID 2010, 4th International Photography Biennial)! Saturday 11/09/2010 Hello Indian Summer Unedited shots of buildings and people reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. It seems that the Summer is over and Fall is assuming the responsibility of our weather-needs, which of course means that it'll be Spring again very soon, yay! While the darker Seasons last, they create a nice gloomy, yet colorful atmosphere that often can look really pretty and inspiring, but I think I speak for most of us here in Holland when I say that I'm always glad when Christmas is over and we can look forward to warmer days and the rebirth of the cycle of life all across this lovely city, country, planet. Have a nice, relaxed weekend, do fun things only, call some old friends to reminisce about past days, send somebody you haven't spoken to in a while an email, tell somebody that you like them and most of all, take it easy :) Hello Indian Summer Movie I've made a wicked movie of this puddle too, watch it on my YouTube page! AmsterS@m In The News Yesterday I've posted this shot of a newly-wed couple in a bakfiets on the Rembrandtplein, and the local news station 'AT5' added it to their website AND showed it during their hourly news-cast on TV (from 11:05 - 11:18 minutes into the show!), yay :D 9/11 It's that day of the year again... Image 'borrowed' from http://existentialistcowboy.blogspot.com! Friday 10/09/2010 The Dutch Wedding Unedited shots of a newly-wed couple celebrating their Honeymoon in a bakfiets at the Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. As you might know, the Dutch have a very close relationship with their bikes and most daily activities are performed while riding on them...but did you know that it's very much socially acceptable to get married and spend your Honeymoon in one of those box-bikes? This couple has wasted away the last 2 weeks of their lives biking around, enjoying the views and the charms of Amsterdam, but you can tell by their tired faces that they're ready to settle down now, get off the bike, find a hotel room and consumate their young love...but we won't let them! Being in the bakfiets you become part of the Amsterdam attractions and you're doomed to a life of circling around the center of the best city in the world for the entertainment of the masses, I guess that's what you get for believing in such an old fashioned institution as marriage, haha...Thank God it's Friday :D Thursday 09/09/2010 Here Comes Shadowman! Unedited shots of a biker reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Oh no, watch out, there's a sinister looking Shadowman coming right at you! This would be a really good moment to run Forrest, run! Now! Do it! Fast! Forgot how to run because you haven't done it in years?! Start walking, then accelerate, swing those arms, push those knees high up until the meet your chin, lift those feet higher, higher, higher, keep them arms swinging, left-right, left-right, and now run as fast as you can! Isn't that a liberating feeling, to just run like you used to do when you were a kid? Do you sometimes wish you were a kid again for just one day? If you do, this is just the song for you :-) Back In The Day This is the video I've mentioned above, 'Back in the day' by Ahmad, enjoy :) AHMAD Back in the days Geüpload door dougpark17. - Muziek video's, interviews met artiesten, concerten en meer. Wednesday 08/09/2010 The Money Masters Unedited shots of bikers reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. If you look closely, you'll notice that shiny tall building in the background, that is the "Nederlandsche Bank", the central Bank of the Netherlands, and what makes it so shiny, is all the gold, diamonds and cash money that they store in there. Where they got it from and why it is all locked up inside a shiny building instead of being out there, stimulating the Dutch people to consume, consume and then consume some more to keep the economy running, only the Money Makers know, but I sure would love to have a short pit-stop there and load up on some fresh cash, mine is starting to smell funny from all the rain, haha. Almost weekend ;-D Money Masters Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube page! Tuesday 07/09/2010 Beamer Puddle Panorama Unedited shots of buildings and a Beamer, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. If you come here sometimes, you'll know that I love bikes, but to my great shame I have to admit that my (by far!) most popular photo is this shot of a BMW standing around in the best city in the world, it had almost 22 000 (!) views in the 3 years it has been online here on Flickr and it keeps going strong, 271 comments, 720 times favorites, you get the picture...is this ironic or what?! The guy who strongly dislikes cars and posts picture of bikes almost every day, has an instant hit with a freakin' photo of a freakin' car, lol...nway, it's Tuesday, that means the weekend is getting near ;-) Beamer Panorama Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube page! Monday 06/09/2010 The Puddle People Unedited shots of people reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I like taking reflection photos a lot and I like it even more when there are people in my puddle, it just adds a nice human touch (pun intended ;) to the overall wickedness of the shots. What makes this an even more desirable element of a proper puddle picture is of course the fact that you can often see the confused, amused, irritated and distorted facial expressions of those encountering a seemingly insane man pointing a camera or mobile phone into a random wet spot by the side of the road, somewhere in the best city in the world...have a good start into the new week :) Puddle People Movie What's that, did I shoot a movie of this puddle as well?! Why yes, thanks for asking, and it's of course on my YouTube page! Sunday 05/09/2010 This Wicked World Unedited shots of buildings, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Since last Thursday the boiler of the heating installation of the building where I live makes horrible noises during the nights, it sounds like a tiny man with a giant hammer is trapped inside the pipes and is trying to break free by hitting on the metal for hours at a time. It started at 2 in the morning Thursday night, then at 3 on Friday and last night it started around 5'ish, giving me hope that by next week the noise will begin after I have left the house for work already. This is my only chance of getting some proper sleep, the crappy company that installed the heating system keeps coming back, pretending to fix it and making it worse each time. Effectively this means that I have paid for having my life messed up, a service that is gladly supplied by Dutch handy-men and construction workers...everybody is good at something they say and in this case I can only confirm that they did a perfect job, hahaha. If this continues, I will lose my mind and probably end up living in the (unheated but silent) gutter, sitting somewhere alone with my bottle of cheap wine, mumbling to myself 'It was supposed to keep us warm, not ruin our lives' while people walking by try to hit me in the forehead with little coins...what a wicked world ;-D Saturday 04/09/2010 Double Vision Galore Unedited shots of buildings and people reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I really likes this double-vision style, but I almost never shoot pictures in this way, for some reason that I don't understand, they don't seem to be 'real' reflections and mostly not worthy of my time, but when I actually do take some of these shots and look at them on my PC afterwards, I often end up liking them a lot...wtf is wrong with me?! I promise that I'll try to make many more of these babies from now on, because you seem to like them as well, going by the views and comments I've received from all the puddle lovers yesterday. Have a nice weekend, enjoy :)) Double Vision Galore Movie I've made a wicked movie of this puddle too, watch it on my YouTube page! Friday 03/09/2010 Double Vision Friday Unedited shots of buildings at the Singel canal in Amsterdam, reflected in the canal. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I am such a lucky guy, after having worked several Fridays and even a Saturday in the last weeks, I am back to my old lazy schedule of working Monday - Thursday only. Whenever I tell somebody that I work 4 days a week, they get dreamy eyes and imagine how good their lives could be if they had the same reduced work hours, not knowing that everybody can ask his/her boss for less work, it's a new Dutch law, if you ask, they can't say 'No', and even though you'll lose 20% of your salary and vacation days, you'll gain 52 free days per year, and of course you'll pay 20% less taxes, it's a win-win situation that I've been abusing for my personal gains for manymany years already. I can only recommend it, and if I can convince only one person to at least look at the possibility of reducing their work load and increasing their fun part of life by posting this picture, my mission was successful...thank God it's Friday and I don't have to work, yay :D Double Vision Friday Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of the canal too, check it out on my YouTube page! Thursday 02/09/2010 The Fat Cats Unedited shots of the Amstel Hotel reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Last weekend I was out puddle hunting when I came across this lovely wet spot that contained one of my favorite buildings, the Amstel Hotel, that I've reflected on successfully in the past and intend to do so in the not too distant future again...while shooting a movie of this pretty place I noticed some rich people getting out of their car and preparing to spend a luscious weekend in the luxury retreat of this high-class Hotel that I'll hopefully be able to afford one of these days when the 'AmsterSam World Domination Plan' has been fully implemented...if things work out the way I imagine them to do, I'll be the owner of that place by then anyway, eat your heart out Mick Jagger, mhuahaha ;-P Fat Cats Movie Check out the movie of the Fat Cats on my YouTube page! Wednesday 01/09/2010 AmsterTram Unedited shot of myself, reflected on the side of a tram passing me by in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. You might know this already, I like taking reflection pictures of myself...this is not really such an exciting exercise in itself, many people do this and many are really good at it, usually a reason for me to withdraw from the battlefield and search for other areas of activities that are not so overcrowded by the unwashed masses, but for some strange reason I can't seem to stop taking the self shots and posting them here on the Interwebs, I guess I'm addicted or something :) Last Month |
