Whenever I see people with their suitcases going to the train station, or to the Airport, to leave for other places, or to go home after a visit, I seriously pitty the fool who does not call this lovely city home. I will never understand how others manage to not live here, I mean how does that work?! How can anybody not want to bike through the narrow, pretty streets with all those beautiful buildings? How does anybody survive not being surrounded by all the wickedly hot Amsterdam babes?! How? And why?! Maybe it's just me, maybe I fell off my bike too often and hit my head in the process too many times, I mean, I know that I'm a bit retarded, but still...anyway, I hope you're having a great time, wherever you are :)

I just woke up and realized, once again, that life is great! 2011 will go down in the AmsterSam history books as one of the greatest years ever, and I can't really express in words how much I realize, appreciate and worship this fact of life, so I've tried finding some pictures in my vast archives that reflect the happiness, gratefulness and childish joy that I am experiencing when I think about all those awesome, inspiring, wicked and lovely things that have graced my life in 2011. I'm not going to bore you with all the details that created this desirable situation, but considering that exactly one year ago I was going through one of the worst periods of my existence, I am once again reminded of the saying that we don't learn from good experiences, only bad ones, and I think that that awful, megacrappy 2010 did its share of making me love 2011 just so much more. Those of you who contributed to this miraculous, beautiful year, you know who you are, and I can't thank you enough for being there and being who you are, I love you guys, and in my mind I am making love to all of you in a feverishly fashion right now. lol. To those of you who made last year such a horrible year I say once again: F U! F U very much, Karma will sort you out, while I'll be up there in the sky, shining like a star, spitting chewing gum into your hair, hahahaha :D

I've mentioned it manymany times already, I get lots of confused, intimidated and surprised looks when I shoot my wicked reflections, but it seems that the crowd on the Dam square was not in the best mood when I shot this series, you can clearly tell that their facial expressions are beyond those usual reactions I get, maybe it was a bad day for those people, or they were simply overwhelmed by my wickedness. I hope for them that they're looking much happier today, Life is just so much better when you're experiencing it with a smile on your face :)

Last weekend I went on a Road trip, and it was really nice, but I was very happy to return to the best city in the world afterwards, it's not that I don't like other countries and cities, but I easily get homesick and every fiber in my body seems to scream "It's been fun, now let's go HOME dude!", and I'm usually more than happy to oblige, there's not much you can do against the wishes and urges of your body and mind. The thing I like most about going away is the coming back part, so I guess I should go away more often, to be able to enjoy this awesome rush of happiness more often, lol :D

Last weekend I went on a Road trip again, this time I took the train instead of my bike, the fabulous Lord Bikenheimer, because the weather forecast said it would rain, but it didn't, so I might as well have biked my way across Europe. It was fun anway, I've met lots of nice people on the way, I ate some strange but declicious food, and I had a great time. Of course I snapped lots of pictures as well, sometimes sneakily, sometimes in the open, and it confirmed once again my believe that if you ask somebody nicely if you can take their photo, most people will be happy to oblige, and usually they even agree to let me post them to the Interwebs, lucky me :)

Occupy Amsterdam - Faces Of The Revolution Unedited shots of people at the 'Occupy Amsterdam' event at the Beursplein in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. The 'Occupy Amsterdam' movement seems to receive a lot of sympathy from the Dutch population, the Beursplein is filled to the brim with tents and people, peacefully demonstrating for a better world. I even met the Mayor of Amsterdam there, and asked him what he thought about the situation, and if city hall is considering clearing the square, his reply was that as long as things stay peaceful, there's no reason for that, and that he supports the idea. To entice others to also join the Revolution, here are some shots of the faces of those good folks that made it out to the square yesterday :)

Occupy Amsterdam - Going Strong Unedited shots of the 'Occupy Amsterdam' event in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. The saga continues, undeterred by rain, hail and wind, the protesters of the 'Occupy Amsterdam' movement are going strong, trying to force the international Money Masters to their puffy knees by putting up their tent-city outside the Stock exchange at the Beursplein and rubbing it in their ugly, capitalist faces that the people are not happy with the way things are going, and that we're not taking any more shit from those rich bastards sitting on top of the system like a cherry on a pie. We want change, we want a better world, we want to end this unfair situation where a few guys in suits run the world, and the masses are left behind, only useful when the banks and corporations need to be bailed out again with billions of tax euros. Did they really think they could get away with it in the long run? Did they really expect the Sheeple to take one beating after another without finally resisting? I guess they did, because they're trying to continue as if nothing has happened, as if we're all just a bunch of retarded, weed-puffing clowns that can easily be ignored...and yes, we are a bunch of retarded, weed-puffing clowns, but we're not going anywhere, we're here to stay, it's the final curtain for you $$$-loving, people-hating fat cats, hahaha :D

I can never get enough of the looks people shoot my way when I'm doing my wicked puddle thing, they just can not wrap their minds around the fact that there's a grown man sitting next to a puddle, pointing his camera to the ground, and that's a good thing, because it allows me to capture their irritated, unbelieving, surprised and often amused faces in the water. What always amazes me is that they're actually looking into the puddle, and not at me, because then you'd see them looking up, and not down...so thank you puddle people, your assistance in the making of these wicked shots is more than appreciated, too bad you're always biking by so fast, otherwise I'd thank you in person, lol :)

The title of these pictures I've uploaded today sounds a bit rude, I mean, calling somebody the whore of Babylon, even if it's just a Mannequin made out of plastic, is not exactly nice, but since there is the 'Occupy Amsterdam' protest going on just around the corner of this beautiful building, where these promoters of commerce flaunt their artificial boobs and booties, to entice us to further overspend the money we don't have, on shiny, unnecessary goods (or rather bads, lol) and gadgets, that will rot in landfills for the next 7 trillion years, I think they nicely symbolize everything that those protesters came out in the streets against. So, sorry ladies, nothing personal, could have happened to anybody, but at least you make being part of Evil look nice, lol :D

The Fair on the Dam square is back, it feels like they're in town every second week or so, but still, every time I see it, it makes me happy and I feel like a little boy again. One of the reasons why I'm happy about the Fair is that it always looks really nice in pictures, it's surrounded by pretty, old buildings that they nicely contrast with, plus the light is often magically beautiful. This little fella might find these pictures of himself on the Interwebs one day, and he might remember the Fair in big old Amsterdam, and the weird guy with a camera, kneeling in front of him and his parents as they walked back to the Central Station, to take the train back to their lovely little village somewhere in the Dutch countryside...walk into the light little Jedi, the Force is with you :)

Occupy Amsterdam Now! Unedited shots of the 'Occupy Amsterdam' event in Amsterdam yesterday, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. Yesterday the 'Occupy Amsterdam' event started at the Beursplein, outside the Stock Exchange, and of course I was there to shoot some movies and pictures, and to support the good cause. The vibe was really good and the people were smiling and soaking up the peaceful atmosphere of resistance against our Slave Masters. I sure hope that this is the beginning of a Movement that will allow us to create a better, less $$$-focused future for ourselves and our children (well, your children, I don't have any, as far as I'm aware, lol), without the continuous chase to make more money, to buy more things we don't need, but that help destroy the planet in their production- and disposal-process, a principle I have never been able to understand or support. If you want to do your share, organize an event in your own city, tell your friends, create Facebook events, share the material you find online, spread the word, and most important, start the change with yourself, open your mind, think for yourself, educate others and be good :)

At 12:00 noon today, the 'Occupy Amsterdam' movement will start its activities at the Beursplein, in the heart of the best city in the world, to show the Money Masters that we are no longer watching silently how they are destroying the fabric of society with their evil capitalist, globalized, industrial machine, that keeps sucking people in and spitting out their chewed up bones, once their essence has been used up to enrich the Rich and make the Poor even poorer. This is the Facebook page of the event, sign up, be there, be loud, tell the fat cats what you think about them taking away our houses and our life-savings...unless you like being robbed of all your possessions and your future, then I'd say shut up and stay home with the other Sheeple, lol :D

It's Friday, the sun is shining, I'm off for the next 3 days and I'm sure there are some wicked puddles waiting for me all over the best city in the world. I feel like a kid on Christmas, hahaha. I'm always amazed that I seem to be the only one in Amsterdam who is shooting reflection pictures, I have never seen anybody else do it, even though there are others, there are photos on the web to prove it, but we're obviously all operating deep undercover and nearly invisible, lol. One thing that I have not seen anybody else do, not online, and not in the real world, is another wicked Reflectah taking selfportaits reflected in water, I think I have created a whole new genre of photography there without wanting to, it just happened. It's not even hard to do, it's tons of fun, and it feels a bit like magic to create a reflection picture of yourself that is not shot in a mirror or some other easily accessible reflective surface. And if you find this too confusing, calm down by looking at my 'regular' Selfies :)

I am really sorry if this is upsetting for you, since you are probably facing another day of work tomorrow, and I sincerely apologize, but I'm a Girlieman, and in the interest of keeping my eternal soul in a peaceful state of equilibirium, I need an extra day of rest and relaxation ;-)

Oh my, those pictures of the Amsterdam Bike Babe in Hot Pants that I've posted Monday got some massive views, it seems that I'm not the only dirty old man on the Interwebs, hahaha. To satisfy my, and your, unhealthy urges, here is another series of the Bike Babe, but sans bike this time, to allow us to focus on what probably captured our attention in the previous shots, her legs, because, let's be honest for a moment (yes, I know, when you say something like 'Honestly...' in a sentence, people will assume that you are a liar, lol), if the shots would have had the bike, but not the babe in them, they would not be grime-covered and require an hourly re-upload, to ensure that future viewers don't end up with sticky hands :D

The Royal Palace on the Dam square is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Amsterdam, and I have no idea why. OK, it is a huge building, it looks kinda pretty, but it's nothing spectacular in itself, and there are much nicer things to see while in the best city in the world. The only theory I have is, that our visitors think that the Dutch Queen actually lives inside the building, and might wave, or throw flowers at them any moment now...which would actually be a nice thing, imagine you could just stand on the Dam, and wait for Beatrix to wake up, open her window, and smile at her subjects, who paid for the whole show anyway with their hard-earned tax money, lol. Then again, considering what her tower of hair must look like when she rolls out of bed, I guess it's safe to assume that that's not the kind of show anybody would be interested in seeing...sorry Bea, hahaha :D

Autumn is upon us, and people are starting to wear more and more layers of clothes, a sad thing, but luckily I was able to shoot this lovely Amsterdam Babe and her bike on one of the beautiful Indian Summer days we've experienced in the last week, this should get us through a rainy day or two, lol.The good thing about the approaching Winter is, that it's almost Spring now, just 5 more months, yay :D

My last weekend was near perfect, it lasted for 4 days, it was perfect weather, and I've spent lots of quality time with awesome people, so imagine my shock when I found out the Monday after that I'll have to work this Friday, my usual day off! I'm actually trembling and also crying like a baby as I write this, so hurt is my delicate little, fluffy soul by the insult of an idea to make me get up at 6 in the morning, bike 10 kilometers and spend the whole day working? It's inhuman, that's what it is, and nobody should have to suffer like this...oh, wait, I just realized that most of my colleagues do this every week, all year long, all their lives...how the hell do they do it? And why?! Ah well, I'll console myself with the thought that I'll be off next week Thursday and Friday to make up for this horrible thing that has overpowered me, called a full working week, lol. If you're thinking now 'Well, I work 5 days a week, every week, and you don't see me rolling around on the floor with a snotty nose, crying like a baby over it!', I can only say, you must be some kind of superhuman, while I, as I have mentioned, am the proud owner of a delicate little, fluffy and easily upset soul, hahaha :D

I've posted some shots of the lovely Miss M earlier this week, and going by the views, comments and favorites they got, it seems that the Interwebs is in love with her, lol. This time, you'll even get to see her up close and personal, displaying her charming smile and radiating an inner glow that almost blinded me, luckily I always have a camera stuck to my face anyway, or I might not be able to tell, or rather write, the story, hehehe. Usually I don't work on Fridays, because the 5th day of work each week is purely for the benefit of the Tax office, and I don't see why I should waste my time and energy paying taxes to build more roads for cars, or to buy more weapons for all those wars we're involved in, but this week, I'll have to go the office 5 days, argh! I'm sure I'll survive it, until December last year, I had to work fulltime for 1 1/2 years due to circumstances (that was the worst time of my life I think), and I was sooooo happy to return to my old schedule of 32 hours per week, but now at least I know that it can be done. Still, this is making my brain hurt every time I think about it, and the only thing that can console me, is the fact that I'll be off next week Thursday and Friday, to make up for it, but that's still so far away...I think I'll have to get reallyreally drunk after work this Friday, that will probably make me feel much better, lol :)

An Angel In The Park Slightly edited shots of the lovely Miss M in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam last weekend. Taken with my Sony HX1. The last week was awesome, sunshine all over the place and happy people everywhere, so I've spent considerable parts of my weekend in the various parks in the best city in the world, when I suddenly saw an Angel just sitting among all those mere mortals, pretending she's one of them. My camera went nuts and kept shooting her, I couldn't stop it, even when I smashed it against a tree, it just kept going, so the least I had to do was go, and apologize for the trigger-happiness of my Sony. Luckily she was really cool about it, and allowed me to also take some pictures of her, I will post more later this week, so keep an eye on this spot if you like these images of the lovely Miss M :)

I think I've said it before, I reallyreally like weekends, so every thought, every action, every idea is focused on bringing me closer to those 3 magic days (I don't work on Fridays, lazy me, lol :) that will allow me to do whatever I want, whenever I want, however I want. Luckily I took last Thursday off, and I've spent 4 wonderful, beautiful, sunny, perfect days in the best city in the world, it felt like a mini vacation, the only bad thing about it is, that it ended, and I have to go back to work, argh! Oh well, almost weekend again, haha :D

AmsterSam The Cooler Master Unedited shots of my new PC Amsterdam yesterday. Taken with my Sony HX1 and my HTC Desire. Lately I am having issues with my electronic devices, from my mobile to my TV, my Netbook and PC to my iPod, all my gadgets are displaying irrational, unmachine-like behavior, so I went and bought a new PC yesterday, to at least be able to get my photos, accompanied by my usual senseless dribble, on the Interwebs, it's not going to fill itself with content. I've spent 2 days doing online and offline research into the best deals and ended up with the PC-shop housebrand Power-computer, that should get me through the next 5 or so years. I love setting up a new computer (yes, I'm a Nerd :), and since I got a Windows 7 installation disc for free from the sales dude, it was even more fun configuring the Beast. Now I'm finetuning everything and copying all my data to the giant Harddisk, while hopping outside on my balcony with coffee and smokes every now and then. Have a relaxed, sunny Sunday, take it easy :)

We are experiencing a really lovely Indian Summer in the best city in the world at the moment, and I am ecstatically happy about being able to finally spend some sunny days in the parks and by the water, if it wasn't for one thing that's bothering me: All the machines in my house seem to rebel at the moment, the battery of my little Netbook died last week, so I'm running it with the powercable connected at all times, but it often refuses to hook up to my Wifi network despite a strong, beautiful signal, my Desktop PC randomly won't start up anymore, and if it does, freezes at the most inconvenient moments and requires several reboots before it'll resume operation, my HTC Desire is doing strange things and will often not go online, even though it has a perfect connection, my TV is behaving like a child that has just entered the early stages of puberty, and my external Hard-drives do whatever they like. Yesterday when I came home from the park, my PC did not find its Network-card anymore and stubbornly refuses to go online, so I'm considering to go and buy a new one today, to have at least one problem sorted out. Stoopid technology, you're supposed to be my slave, not my master, lol :D
