Tuesday 30/11/2010 Happy Puddle People Unedited shots of the lovely Miss J, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I'm not sure if it's my egg-shaped head or how weird and stoopid it looks when I'm hunching over puddles to shoot my wicked reflections, but usually the people witnessing it end up laughing at/with me and are happy and excited when I ask them to pose for my puddle pictures. I have a nice large collection already of happy puddle people and today I'd like to share these shots of the lovely Miss J with you...doesn't she look just fine inside my wicked wet world?! Yes, she does. Have a wonderful day, take it easy :)) Monday 29/11/2010 Greetings From SummerS@m Unedited shots of myself, reflected in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone and my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I miss the Summer...it's only gone for a little while and soon it'll be back, but for now I miss it. I miss wearing my shorts&shirts, I miss not looking like the Michelin-man in my winter jacket, I miss chilling out in the park with my friends, I miss sitting outside a bar with a cold drink, I miss looking at all the hot Amsterdam girls in their light dresses, I miss riding my bike without having to worry about slipping on some ice layer in the streets, I miss the bees, the flowers, the warm breeze and all that...luckily it's almost Spring now and soon I won't have to miss all these things anymore...have a nice Winter :)) Free Shipping From December 1st until December 14th, shipping is free if you order items above 30 euros in the AmsterSam Shop, simply enter the voucher code 'GIFTS2010UK' when you check out :) Sunday 28/11/2010 Amsterdam Public Transportation Unedited shots of people at a Tram-stop at the Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I'm still busybusybusy taking care of interesting, annoying issues that keep popping up lately, and some of these things required me to take the Tram, something I do maybe once a year and try to avoid whenever I can, I usually travel everywhere on my trustworthy bike Lord Bikenheimer, not just because I prefer to decide which way to go, how fast to go and all that, but also because the public transportation system in Amsterdam is slow, expensive (2,60 euro for 1 hour!) and often overcrowded. Unfortunately this weekend I had to make use of it repeatedly and realized once again that the best city in the world is a whole different place when experienced from the inside of a Tram or Metro. I really don't know how people can do this every day, it's just such a nerve-wrecking, smelly, overpriced way to travel and the only upside is that you get to look at people and watch them trying to waste their time reading the paper, staring at the information-screens or watching others trying to waste their time reading the paper, staring at the information-screens, etc, a bit of a vicious cycle, hahaha. Enjoy your Sunday, take it easy :) Public Transport Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube channel, thanks :) Saturday 27/11/2010 Busy Busy Busy Unedited shots of people at the Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. It's finally weekend now, but instead of being able to sit back and relax, I have to take care of plenty of urgent issues that need to be addressed in a swift, dedicated manner, not exactly my idea of a good time, but this is a valuable reminder again of two universal truths about life: 1. If you want sh*t done right, you'll have to do it yourself! 2. Being a grown-up means having to take care of things that can be unpleasant, time-consuming and the exact opposite of fun! I guess realizing these things once again is almost worth going through some trouble, if you know what you're up against, you can properly prepare yourself and do your best to get it over with as efficiently, effective and unharmed as possible. This probably sounds a lot more dramatic than it is, and I'll share more details with you in the not-too-distant future, you'll very likely laugh at me and call me a freakin' Drama-King, but that's just how I roll, I like to enjoy my miserable times as much as the easy-going times, lol. Have a wicked weekend, think about me every now and then, thank you :) P.s. I keep hearing the song 'Runnin' by the Pharcyde in my head as I am trying to figure out how to best handle all the things that require my attention...true dat :) "There comes a time in every mans life when he's gotta handle up on his own Can't depend on friends to help you in a sqeeze, please they got problems of their own" Busy Busy Busy Movie I've made a wicked movie of this puddle as well, check it out on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Friday 26/11/2010 Thank God It's Friday :D Unedited shots of buildings in the Westerpark in Amsterdam, reflected in a canal. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday I went to the ABC Bookstore to witness the first book ever being printed on the brand-new Espresso Book Machine, there were lots of important people, free bubbly drinks and free copies of the book for those that had their submissions included in it, my story 'The wicked wet world of AmsterSam' is also in there, sadly I did not win one of the 4 prices (vouchers for the ABC shop and up to 10 free copies of the book...strangely all 4 winners seemed to be kids between 10-15 years, wtf?!) but it was fun anyway. To top it off, I've met a friend I hadn't seen in years, and together we had a good time and some laughs, and now we're Facebook friends as well, so it was worth it. Thank God it's Friday!!! Have a wicked weekend :)) Thursday 25/11/2010 AmsterSam @ The AnyBook Award Unedited shots of people outside the ABC Bookstore in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Today I am invited to the White Room at the ABC Bookstore, to meet Jason Epstein, American publisher, co-founder of On Demand Books and The New York Review of Books, to receive my complimentary copy of the first book ever to be printed on the new Espresso Book Machine. My entry called 'The wicked wet world of AmsterSam' made it into the final selection and will be included in the book that will be available at the ABC for sale as of tomorrow, yay!!! A big 'Thank You' to those that voted for my submission, I very much appreciate your help with getting my wicked shizzle published in print :))) The AnyBook Award Movie I've also shot a movie of this puddle, check it out on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Wednesday 24/11/2010 Meet Zelda Shiny Unedited shots of the lovely Miss Zelda Shiny in Amsterdam. Taken with a borrowed Sony HX1. No editing. In Amsterdam we have the prettiest girls in the world, and the lovely Miss Zelda Shiny is one of them. Luckily for me, she likes posing for the camera if you ask her nicely, so I was able to take some proper pictures of her in the mean streets of the best city in the world, even though I have to say that Amsterdam looks more like Paris 70 years ago in this picture. I guess that's a good thing and I won't complain, hehe. Have a great day, the weekend is near! Tuesday 23/11/2010 Welcome To Gothamsterdam Unedited shots of a church on the Haarlemmerstraat in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing. Amsterdam is such a beautiful city, wherever your eye wanders, there are so many old buildings that look the same they did hundreds of years ago, there are so many billions of boats, birds, bikes and babes floating, flying and riding around, that it's sometimes hard to keep your attention on the road ahead of you, often resulting in men flying over the handlebars of their own bikes while admiring some passing beauty. My personal favorite time is the early morning, when the streets aren't overcrowded yet (because all the tourist and the lazy people are still sleeping) and the few folks that are on the road already, often know each other from passing each other by each day on the way to work or wherever they're going...I think we should make it a habbit to greet everybody we've seen before, and very soon we'd all be friends :) Monday 22/11/2010 Santa Is Coming To Town Unedited shots of people at the Christmas market at the Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Here in good old Holland we have a bit of a different Christmas tradition than (most of) the rest of the world, we have Sinterklaas, a dude who comes on a steamboat from Spain each year, together with his horse and a bunch of little colored guys who are all called Zwarte Piet (Black Pete), and who are the subject of an annual heavy discussion if it's racism to have little black fellas help a tall white man to make the kids happy...personally I think they're so creepy that I don't even think as far as the racism point, so I'm not sure about that, but I gather that the kids love them, and don't mind being hit in the head with the Pepernootjes that they throw around, lol. Have a good start into the new week :)) Please don't forget to vote for my submission to the AnyBook Award, it's called "The wicked wet world of AmsterSam", thank you very much :)) Santa Movie I've made a movie of that puddle as well, watch it on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Sunday 21/11/2010 The Tourist Trap Unedited shots of people at the Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. The Rembrandtplein is one of my favorite places in the best city in the world, it has beautiful buildings, billions of bars, clubs and cafes, and it's always overcrowded with pretty people. It is also one of the main tourist areas of Amsterdam and it is build in a way that visitors spend hours circling the square in shock&awe while we drain their hard earned money from their wallets by luring them into sitting down on one of the terraces, consuming coffee, alcohol and various mind-altering substances, giving them a false feeling of peace and tranquility. Or maybe that feeling is real and we totally deserve having their Euros injected into the local economy, making Amsterdam an even richer, better place to live in, who knows...have a relaxed Sunday, take it easy :)) Please don't forget to vote for my submission to the AnyBook Award, it's called "The wicked wet world of AmsterSam", thank you very much :)) Tourist Trap Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube channel, thanks :) Saturday 20/11/2010 Friday Night In Amsterdam Unedited shots of people in a bar and at the 'Duivel' in Amsterdam Friday night. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Last night I went to the 'Duivel', a wickedcool HipHop bar close to the Rembrandtplein and it was another awesome, most excellent Friday night...I've met lots of nice people, got plenty of Brother-shakes, and on the side managed to shoot some pictures, even though I was already highly intoxicated by the time I arrived there, as I've had manymany drinks with a group of fun-loving folks before I biked to the Duivel in a drunken haze. This Friday night confirmed again my deep-seated Belief that Amsterdam is the best city in the world, and that we have the best people in the world hanging around all those cool places to visit...thank you all for all the fun, the laughter and yes, the drinks too, an extra shout-out and 'Big Up' goes to Mr.MJ for charming all the bar ladies into supplying us with a continuous stream of alcohol, you rock dude :D Friday 19/11/2010 The Wicked Wet Vixen Unedited mobile phone cam shots of the lovely Miss A, reflected in a puddle Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This is the lovely Miss A, she's a supporter of the 'AmsterSam World Domination Plan' and my submission to the AnyBook Award. If you want to join her in encouraging my world domination urges, please go and vote for my entry called "The wicked wet world of AmsterSam", it's already in the Top 10 of the contest, thanks a lot :)) Thank God It's Friday!!! Thursday 18/11/2010 The Wicked Wet World Of AmsterSam Unedited mobile phone cam shots of myself reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with the timer of my C905 phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I have entered the next stage of the by now infamous 'AmsterSam World Domination Plan', I am taking over the world of Print. I am doing this by participating in the AnyBook Award, my submission is called "The wicked wet world of AmsterSam" and you can support me by going to the website featuring the Top 10 entries and voting for it, thank you very much. I will fondly remember you and your friendly assistance once I am totally dominating the world ;-D Wicked World Of AmsterSam Movie I've also shot some movies of myself reflected in puddles, check them out on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Wednesday 17/11/2010 The Puddle People Part 1 Unedited shots of people at the Rokin in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Puddle people galore, just another couple of random shots of wicked water reflections. I just love the confused, interested, irritated looks I often get from people walking through my photos, they simply can not figure out what I'm doing and why. Sometimes I think that by now every person living in Amsterdam, or having visited the best city in the world as a tourist, should have heard of me or seen me in action, but clearly that's not the case (yet) and I'll have to continue doing my wicked thing until even the last soul walking the mean streets of my lovely hometown will accept that sometimes making something look beautiful, makes you look stoopid...no, not you, me, haha. If you see me crouching next to a wet spot with a camera, please pet my head or give me a hug and I'll return the favor, thank you very much. Please don't forget to vote for my entry in the ABC AnyBook Award, it's called "The wicked wet world of AmsterSam", thank you :))) Puddle People Part 1 Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube page, thank you :) Tuesday 16/11/2010 The AnyBook Award Unedited shots of people outside the ABC Bookstore at the Spuiplein in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I am participating in the AnyBook Award from the ABC Bookstore, this is what it's all about: "Help us write a book: The AnyBook Award Competition 2010 The very first book to be printed on ABC's Espresso Book Machine will be very special: It's going to be written by you! Be a part of this printing revolution and help ABC publish a unique book by creating something for us on the topic Redesign the World (the theme of this year's PICNIC conference). You can write any sort of text, or conjure up any sort of image: we'll consider anything and everything as long as it looks good in black and white. (for example: prose, poetry, interview, essay, cartoon, photograph, drawing). A professional jury will select finalists from all your entries. We’ll post these here on AnyBookAward.com so that you can vote for your favorite too. The final decision will be made by the jury, who will select the best quality entries to be compiled into our first book. You could see your work in print and on sale in our stores in November!" The submissions are now on their website and I've made it into the Top10, yay!!! Please have a look at my contribution called "The wicked wet world of AmsterSam" and vote for it if you like it, thank you very much :)) AnyBook Award Movie I've made a movie of this puddle too, view it on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Monday 15/11/2010 The Puddle People Part 2 Unedited shot of a people at the Rokin, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with a borrowed Sony HX1.No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Another series of puddle pictures shot with that Sony HX1 I've borrowed a couple of times in the last weeks and that I madly fell in love with, I MUST buy this cam, even though I can't afford it at the moment...well, I could buy it, but since I've lived in the Netherlands for a considerable part of my life now, I've been infected with the Dutch virus that forbids us to spend money on anything at all, unless we reallyreally have to, lol. Maybe I'll organize a guitar from somewhere and make some music in the downtown area for the tourists to collect cash, I'm sure I'd feel less horrible about spending money if it wasn't mine, haha :))) Puddle People Part 2 Movie I've made a movie of that puddle as well, watch it on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Sunday 14/11/2010 Time To Chill! Unedited shots of people at the Spuiplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I'm soooo glad that today is Sunday and that I can do some serious chilling out, this year has been a bit of a challenge (understatement of the decade, lol :) and this morning I woke up thinking it was Monday already and that I'll have to go to work in a moment...imagine my happiness when I realized that it's only Sunday and I've got a whole day of doing nothing ahead of me :) When I say 'doing nothing' I mean of course shooting puddle pictures if the circumstances are right, uploading movies to YouTube, preparing updates for my wicked website and my Facebook/Twitter/Blogger/etc. for the coming days and thinking about, and prioritizing, the many lose ends that need to be nicely tied up in my life (got lots of them, hehe :), but at least I don't have to hop on my bike and ride to the office to increase the shareholder value for the company that chains me to a desk for the better part of each week, so having to attend to my private matters and urgent tasks is kinda fun compared to that, lol :)) Time To Chill Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube channel, thanks :) Saturday 13/11/2010 Friday Night In Amsterdam Unedited shots of people at the 'Bon Esprit' "PFFFFFFFF..." party at the 'Winston' in Amsterdam Friday night. Taken with a borrowed Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Last night I went to the 'Bon Esprit' "PFFFFFFFF..." party at the 'Winston' in the Amsterdam Red Light District, it was a wicked even featuring "Children Sumadre Live, naked! A Lapdance, Strip and Mix performance By Pocketlipps, The Klaus Kinski Buddhist children choir, Live Body Painting By El Monarko, El Durisito's visuals with his haunted WEE remote control and Hank "perro loco" Disaster having sex with dead animals while mixing", and of course wicked visual effects by Monsieur Gregory Duris himself, an interesting mix I'm sure you'll agree ;-D Before I went to the Winston, I got majorly drunk with a bunch of lovely people, resulting in lots of loud laughter, severe levels of intoxication and extreme fun...to protect the innocent I will not post the photos I took of that part of the evening, I would not want anybody getting in trouble with their Employer/the cops/their spouses/the Animal Protection people, but I might use the pictures and movies to blackmail the participants into transfering large chunks of their monetary wealth to my bank account...you know who you are and you KNOW that I have the photos that could easily ruin your lives if you don't bow to my every whimsical wish in the future, mhuahahaha. Nah, just kidding, you know that your privacy is in safe hands with me, trust me, I'm a wicked Reflectah and we're good people :))) Friday Night Movies I've made lots of wicked movies of the show at the Winston, watch them on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Friday 12/11/2010 It's Not A Trick, It's A Sony Unedited shots of bikes at the Rokin in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with a borrowed Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Last weekend I've been testing a Sony HX1 camera that I've borrowed for a couple of days, and I have to say that I very much like what it does with puddle reflections. I had to set it to 2 Megapixel because I've only had this ooold 128MB memory card from my SonyEricsson S700i mobile phone, that I started out with here on Flickr about 4 years ago, so I had to reduce the quality/size to be able to take more than 5 photos, and still the outcome is pretty impressive (if I may say so myself) so that now I'm considering buying it. One of the best features is that you can flip the display over in different angles while shooting, so that for the first time ever, I'd actually be able to see what I'm taking photos of, lol. Until now I've been creating my reflections 'blind', I'd take a couple of shots, check if I like what I see and take some more...imagine what wicked pictures I'd be able to take when I can see the reflections while/before shooting them :)) Thursday 11/11/2010 Back In The Day Unedited shots of a boy in the Sarphatipark in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Looking at this picture, I get flashbacks to my childhood, I used to be half a jungle-kid, living outdoors, playing in the woods with my friends, riding my bicycle everywhere, roaming the fields and forests, discovering animals, plants and all those other things that make being in the free, open nature such a fun thing...now that I'm grown-up (age-wise, mentally I'm still about 8 years old, lol ;) I'm forced to spend most of my time inside artificial environments, creating value for the shareholders of the company I work for, instead of being out there, enjoying the good things in life...but I can't really complain, I still get to ride my bike each day while listening to music, watching the birds, enjoying the sights and sounds of the park and the many creatures living in and around the canals and rivers in the best city in the world :)) And yes, of course all this reminiscing of the old days makes me hum this song in my head, putting a smile on my lips :) Back In The Day Movie I've also shot a movie of this puddle in the park, check it out on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Wednesday 10/11/2010 The Random Art AmsterCam Unedited shots of buildings, people and signs, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I'm such a dork, I've dropped my camera when I was doing the groceries last week (had too many bags in my hands and unfortunately the one with the cam in it ended up on the hard concrete, not the one with the soft stuff, lol) and it fell on the corner where the shutter button lives, and now it takes random pictures at random times without my permission. This is the 2nd cam I've destroyed this year, the first one got killed in my horrible bike accident in March, and now the funky replacement cam does whatever it wants, whenever it wants. As long as it takes pictures like this one here, I should probably not complain, it all still looks rather artsy, and maybe in the future I'll just send it off to the downtown area by itself to shoot my wicked puddle pictures, without any assistance/interference from me, that'll save me a lot of time that I can use for other things...if you see a lonely cam sitting by a wet spot, say Hi from me, hahaha ;-D I guess I'll have to rob some yuppies and buy a 3rd cam, I really liked playing with that Sony HX1 last weekend at the Museumnacht, but it's rather pricey...feel free to Paypal me, or start a 'Buy that Idiot AmsterSam a new cam'-foundation or something, I'd appreciate it, lol ;-))) Tuesday 09/11/2010 Staying Fit The Dutch Way Unedited shots of bikers at the Spuiplein in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. If you've ever been to the Netherlands, you might have noticed that everybody, from the tiniest children to the oldest Geezers&Geezettes, rides a bicycle. It's not just a fun way to get around, it's also very good for your personal fitness and the environment, so you're doing something good for the planet while having a great time, a major win-win situation. I love riding my bike and I hope that I'll never get too old for it, and not only because I have the best bike in the world, but if I don't get to ride on it for more than a day or two, I feel like I'm missing a limb...I love you my Lordy Lordship :)) Monday 08/11/2010 The Busy Bee Unedited shots of a biker and buildings, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I need a vacation...the last months have been so full of activities, new things and changes that I sometimes feel overwhelmed and just want to bike into the sunset, away from it all, away from all the responsibilities, the urgent tasks, the expectations, the pressure, the pleasure and the possibilities. I won't do that though, because it's all for a good cause, these are all necessary steps towards total and utter AmsterSam World Domination and if I'd give up now, you'd never experience my subtle, soft, yet stern approach in ruling this planet and everything that lives in/on it, and that would be a shame, hahaha ;-D So yeah, I'll just keep going on, doing what's needed and I'll keep my fingers crossed that I won't pass out from all the excitement and stress that such a honorable, yet demanding crusade requires...if you see me in the streets of the best city in the world, feel free to pet my head and give me a hug, I'll fondly remember your support once I'm in charge of running things, hehehe. It's Monday, the weekend can't be too far now, lol :D The busy bee Movie I've made a movie of that puddle as well, watch it on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Sunday 07/11/2010 Museumnacht @ the Stadsarchief Unedited shots of visitors of the N8, the Museumnight, at the Stadsarchief Saturday night in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone and a borrowed Sony HX1. No editing. Yesterday I went to the Stadsarchief, the Amsterdam city archive, for the Museumnight, a yearly event during which all the museums are open all night long, a major party spread across the whole town, that attracts tens of thousands of hip young people to rush from one cultural temple to the next on their bikes and inhale a healthy overdose of art, history and culture that lasts all year long, until the next Museumnight. Last year I've met with Rob, the New Media Director of the Stadsarchief, and the cool Flickreros Ronky and Wojofoto, to set up a permanent archive of the photos from our Flickr group, that will be stored for eternity on the servers of the city archive and made accessible to the public, making our photos an official part of the history of the best city in the world...wicked puddle pictures forever, yay :D The Treehouse Talks Unedited shot of the lovely Miss D, Miss Monyart and Miss D at the ABC Treehouse in Amsterdam yesterday. Shot with a borrowed Sony HX1. No editing. Yesterday I went back to the 'ABC Treehouse' to have an open discussion about the current situation in the Netherlands in regards to Immigrants from various corners of the world, it was a very lively, interesting talk we've had and there will be a follow-up soon...thanks guys&girls, it was fun. This event was related to the 'MultiCulti' exhibition that was hosted in the Treehouse last month. Saturday 06/11/2010 Friday Night In Amsterdam Unedited mobile phone cam shots of my Friday night in Amsterdam celebrating the Dr. Emmett Brown Day. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing. Last night I went out and got drunk, something I haven't done in a loooong time because I usually don't work on Friday's, instead I use them to take photos, clean up the house, do the laundry, do the groceries for the whole week, prepare my Flickr/Facebook/Twitter/etc. updates for the next week and other boring, old-people stuff...but now that I'm working on Friday again until the end of the year, I figured it's a good idea to get out there and release all the stress and tension by having a couple of drinks with the cool people of Amsterdam, and as always, it was a freakin' riot and I laughed so much that I was sure my head was going to explode...it actually might have, I'll have to find a mirror and check, lol. On the bike ride home I told myself the same thing I always tell myself after another great night out in the best city in the world with my wickedcool friends: "I should do this more often". I hope that you've also had a great Friday night and that your weekend will be even better :D Friday 05/11/2010 The Window Shoppers Unedited shots of a couple of window shoppers reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Sometimes not buying something can be more satisfying than spending your hard earned cash on items that you might use just a couple of times before they end up on the giant trash pile of modern products that nobody really needs, but that get manufactured at great cost, effort and the price of destruction of the planet anyway...our society sometimes seem to have gone completely mad for things that use up way more resources than the final product is worth, we're in an eternal death-spiral of buying more and more, always wanting the latest version or update of anything that's shiny or seems desirable...I applaude these two young window shoppers who follow their impulse to check out what's new, but then just walk away from it...or maybe they ran to the next ATM to pick up enough $$$ to purchase whatever glittery piece they saw in that shop window, lol. Go and only buy the stuff you really need for survival this weekend, no shiny things, no must-have products, no fancy things, just the bare basics, do it and tell me how that worked out for you...Thank God it's Friday :))))) Window Shoppers Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of the window shoppers too, check it out on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Thursday 04/11/2010 Get Set, Ready, Go! Unedited shots of bikers in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. As you can see clearly in this series of puddle pictures, men often and easily get distracted by their female counterparts...the dudes on their bikes are getting ready for a street-race, when out of nowhere a girl shows up on her steel horse, and instead of hitting the pedals, the guys freeze and admire the girl going by, unable to move even an inch, overwhelmed by her sheer presence, and while she's already half-way to her final destination, the boys are still standing in the same spot, easy targets for my wicked camera...thanks guys, haha ;-D Get Ready Movie I've also shot a movie of this puddle, check it out on my YouTube channel, thank you :) r> Wednesday 03/11/2010 Finding Your Path Unedited shots of signs giving directions, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Sometimes we experience periods in our lives where we seem to have lost our path, stumbling through dark days that seem to go nowhere, in dire need of proper directions towards a brighter, better future...I've had plenty of those days in the last 2 years and on occasion I felt lost and desperately tried to get back on track, get things going my way again, get my head cleared of the misery imposed by others, get back to being the AmsterSam that I want to be, not always an easy thing to do...I'm happy and overjoyed to report that I've implemented some important steps towards that goal and that I am a better, stronger and happier man because of it. I had to eat some serious sh*t on the way to that point but you know what they say, we only learn from bad experiences, not from good ones. To those Motherf***ers who messed up essential parts of my life, causing those dark days, I say with all my heart: F*ck You! You know who you are and we all know that Karma's gonna get your ass and you're gonna suffer for what you tried to do to me, while I'll blaze a glorious, burning trail towards total AmsterSam World Domination...I might even spritz you with some puddle water if I ever see you somewhere in the streets of the best city in the world when I bike by, but then again, I might not, as you're not worth spending any more time or thoughts on you and your negative view on this beautiful thing called life...so once again, F*ck you, F*ck you very much, hahahaha :D Image 'borrowed' from http://www.koolbadges.co.uk! Tuesday 02/11/2010 The New Flamework Collection Unedited shots of visitors at the 'Flamework' shop in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. On the 17th of October, the new collection of the lovely Miss D was presented to the public at her 'Flamework' shop and it was another beautiful, happy event in the best city in the world, lots of pretty people and lots of wicked glass jewlery were on site, and enjoyment was had all over the place :) I didn't get around to posting these shots earlier because there was so much going on in October, but Saturday was the last time that I was at the 'MultiCulti' exhibition at the 'ABC Treehouse', and to celebrate this, and properly wrap up the month of October, I wanted to spoil you with this insight into the inner circles of the Amsterdam In-crowd anyway, better late than never :) New Collection Movies I've shot some movies of the opening too, please check them out on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Monday 01/11/2010 The Leidseplein Area Unedited shots of bikers, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I like the Leidsepleinarea, it has plenty of shops, bars, cafe's and coffeeshops, there are always millions of people around, musicians, artists and street-footballers adding their own flavor to the scene, and there's always something going on, the Ajax Amsterdam Hooligans destroying it after they've won the National Championship again (I wonder what they'd do if they lost, lol ;)), the Police playing loud music to avoid public violence, the Ice-skating rink attracting families, and many other Amsterdamned activities that make this city the best place in the world to live...if you're here, have a stroll through the area, it's good for you :) Leidseplein Movies I've made some movies of that puddle as well, watch them on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Last Month |
