The Backside Of Amsterdam Random shots of Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. Amsterdam is not just about pretty facades and faces, it also has a backside that you don't see too often...luckily, if you do, it mostly looks like it does in this picture, hehehe. I am usually not a big fan of secretly snapping pictures of unsuspecting innocent bystanders, but sometimes even a wicked Reflectah has to do something unusual to be able to fill this Interwebs right here with content that will attract your attention and get you to spend some quality time with some genuine shizzle made by AmsterSam, you deserve nothing less, lol :D

In Amsterdam almost everybody is riding a bike, but some of us ride a Bike...this one is an attention-magnet, even though very likely not a very practical one. I'm sure this Dude has lots of problems maneuvering this baby through the narrow streets of the best city in the world, and he probably gets to say 'Sorry!' all the time, for accidentally pushing people over, and into the canals with his handlebars, lol. I'm glad I have just an average granny bike, a much better ride and you are less attractive for Bike-jackers...nah, just kidding, we don't really have those, luckily :)

AmsterSam The Relaxed Reflectah Slightly edited shots of me in the Oosterpark in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1 by the lovely Miss A. The last couple of days were so beautiful, sunny, peaceful and relaxed that I seriously wish somebody would invent a device that would allow me to experience those days over and over again, not because I like living in the past, but because I can not even imagine that days can be any better than this weekend, I am currently so relaxed that I have to be careful not to slowly slip and slide off my bike's saddle while riding, lol. It sucks that there is no 'Stop', or at least a 'Rewind' button in life, so that we can go back and relive those special moments that make up the fabric of our happy memories, it just would make things even so much better. Since we don't have those options, I guess we all have to do whatever it takes to make every day special and beautiful. I know I'm going to enjoy today, and that it will always remain in my internal memory-banks as a lovely, perfect day that I'm going back to the moment the 'Real Life Rewind' functionality is implemented on a large scale :)

Yesterday I went to the park to hang out with the lovely Miss A and the lovely Miss S, they were busy learning for their studies, so I took the chance to shoot them while they were distracted by the heavy stuff that they tried to force into their heads. It could also be that they were just ignoring me on purpose, to make me stop from going 'Click' 'Click' 'Click' next to their heads all the time, but it didn't work, I just couldn't stop, so expect more pictures of these 2 lovely, beautiful, and last but not least, very smart ladies in the days to come, I hope you like them as much as I do, otherwise I'd advise you to keep your eyes closed or look at something else...hey, there's a seagull! Hahaha :D

It's weekend, it's supersunny and hot, and I'm off for a week, yay! The next week is important for me on a personal level, it marks 2 milestones in my life that have made me the man I am today, and I am going to enjoy having the time to think about where I'm coming from and where I'm going to, without having to look at the clock all the time, figuring out when I'll have to get back to the office for another soul-crushing lateshift combined with a massive barrage of office-politics BS. I will only think about nice things, I'm just going to do whatever I want and I am going to eat so much ice-cream that they'll have to wheel my bloated body to the nearest ice-cream emergency-room, hahaha. Enjoy the wicked weather, have a great weekend :)

We went from really crappy weather to reallyreally way-too-hot weather in just a few days, the humidity level is at about 150% and it's suddenly almost 30 degrees, causing old folks to drop dead in the streets, birds to fall out of the sky like little feathered rocks, and religious people to speak in tongues.

The Life Of A Student SShots of the lovely Miss A, learning in my living room in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. Last year the lovely Miss A, who likes a good challenge, decided to become a Student, a very good decision, as learning helps us to grow our brains, and prepares us for a responsible position in society where we can help to make this world a better place, while securing a reasonable salary, an excellent combination. Unfortunately Miss A picked one of the few studies where it is actually required of the students to spend every waking hour reading, studying and avoiding anything that does not contribute to the overall success of their courses, resulting in fewer opportunities for her to spend quality time with her friends, like myself, so when I do get a rare chance to meet and shoot her, I usually won't stop until I run out of bullets, distracting Miss A from her studies, causing her to spend even more time with her books, and even less with friends...a vicious cycle, and the only way out, is for her to study even harder to make up for the wasted hours. Good luck Miss A, I know you can do it :)

At the beginning of February I took over a new position in the company where I work, and that turned out to be a rather bad decision, it caused my life to be derailed from the safe, organized course I was staying on, and resulted in many loooong days filled with unmanageable workloads, pleeenty of stress and challenges, and a lot less time dedicated to my secret hobby, taking pictures of puddles...I know, they say change is good, but in this case change brought nothing but utter misery and life-disrupting measures. Now, after 3 1/2 really harsh months, I'm back to working 4 days instead of 5, I was off yesterday and now I am looking forward to a long weekend followed by a whole week of valuable, loveable vacation time, my first since October last year, well deserved I might add, and just in time, as I can not go on for another day like this, I need a rest, I need to relax, I need some serious sleep, and last but not least, I need to spend some quality time with my wicked friends, the puddles of Amsterdam, lol :D

I've mentioned it already some time ago, Amsterdam is one of the favorite places for British people to celebrate their Hen- or Stag-night before getting married, a tradition that probably flushes about 250 Billion euros into the empty cash register of city hall each year, which makes them rather popular with our Board of Tourism (the tourists, not city hall!), who wisely decided that we all need to do our share to encourage even more drunk, dazed and confused UK visitors to come to the best city in the world, by taking pictures of them in their fluffy costumes and posting them to the Interwebs for everybody to see. Normally that would shame a potential tourist away from coming here, but not so much our English friends, for them it seems to be another very valid reason to peacefully invade us and drink all our beer, hehehe ;D

I freakin' did it! I made it through the first half of this year that was filled with looooots of hard work, new rules and regulations, overtime, extra working days, late-shifts, megastress and so many obstacles in my path, that I kept thinking that I might be going the wrong way, because the right way should not feel this rocky and rowdy, but now I finally did it! I've managed to deal with, and survive, anything coming my way, and from here on it's all downhill. Tomorrow I am off, ringing in my first 4-day week since January, a beautiful day I've been eagerly awaiting, not expecting it to come anymore, just to get hit over the head by it with a smacking, crackling sound that's like sweetsweet music in my ears, yay! My life just got better, and I will enjoy every minute of it to the last drop, and I'd like to thank myself for being able to deal with so much BS in such a short time, good job Sam, well done, you're the best, hahaha :D

Weekend Here I Come! Slightly edited shots of the lovely Miss A in my living room in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. Oh my, what a crappy week this was, sooo much work, such a horrible full-time schedule filled with evening-shifts, and so many retarded Office-politics moments, I'm really glad it's over, pheeew! But I'm not the only one working hard, the lovely Miss A is a student, and looking at her workload and the constant effort it takes to keep make up with the very high demands of her studies, I'm almost glad that I'm just an office-slave, and not in school anymore. Luckily Miss A likes a good challenge, as she's proven in the past by running up walls, walking across Spain and on frozen canals, and biking through various European countries in one day, repeatedly...OK, that last one, I did with her, but I silently started weeping to myself after 150 kilometers in the saddle, while she was plowing across the concrete street as if she had just woken up from a relaxing nap, lol :D

Thank God It's Friday! Random shots of Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. Today is very likely the last Friday that I'll have to waste at the office instead of outside puddle hunting, my old lazy schedule kicks in as of next week, I think so at least, I'm majorly confused from the late-shifts I had to do this week, and I often forget which day and what time it is, not a good thing. I'm an early bird, I go to bed when others get ready to partay, and I wake up when they come home and crawl into their sleeping nooks, but this week I had to work until 9 in the evening, rudely interrupting my natural sleep-wake cycle, while next week I'll start early, ensuring total devestation to my inner clock and natural equilibrium. In the last nights I did not fall sleep before 4 in the morning, a time when I'm often usually close to waking up already, and now I sit here, with deeeep eye rings and a feeling as if my skull is filled with cottoncandy, but not in a good, colorful, sweet kind of way, and all that just to make a living and to be able to pay my bills. Capitalism can be really upsetting, and I'm not even some kid somewhere in Asia who has to build iPads/Pods for a bowl of rice that he's too tired to eat after his 12-hour shift...anyway, I hope you were lucky enough to secure a looong weekend for yourself, I'm off to work now, for another late-shift, sigh...at least it's Friday, yay :D

AmsterSam The Impatient Reflectah Selfreflections, shot in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. One more week, and I'm back to working 4 days instead of 5, after 3 1/2 harsh, superbusy and extremely stressful months, pheeeeeeew! I've been looking forward to this more and more desperately over the weeks, telling myself 'Hang in there some, just a few more weeks, you can do it!', but it was getting harder and harder to believe myself, all the energy burned up, the futile attempts to keep myself positively motivated by reminding myself of the good things going on in my life often failing, resulting in a tired blur of images of me at work instead of me out there shooting puddles, or just chillaxing on my beloved balcony. Now all I have to do is to somehow finish this horrible week of late shifts, and finally I will regain some much needed rest, relaxation and quality of life, I feel lucky, blessed and grateful that I can afford laziness back into my world :)

It doesn't matter if it's about looking the other way to avoid glancing at a fight in the street, a homeless or sick person, or just the utterly ugly garments some people dare venturing outside in since somebody has decided that 80s Neon colors are cool again, yikes! Anyway, my point is, don't look the other way, not even when you see a man with a camera next to a puddle right ahead of you! Look into the puddle, that will make for much better pictures, thanks, lol ;D

Why do they like each other so much, and why do they look so good together?! Seeing a girl ride a horse is almost as cool as seeing a girl riding her bicycle, I guess you could say horses are kind of meaty bikes, sorta, lol. It could simply be that girls look good on pretty much anything, not just horses or bikes, I mean they look mighty fine just standing, sitting or laying somewhere...yeah, I think that's it, hehehe :)

There is nothing that feels as relaxing and soothing as sitting out there, watching the birds while having a coffee and a smoke, looking at the clouds softly fluffing by in the sky, not having a care in the world...ahhhh, just thinking about it makes me feel so relaxed and cozy that I could just fall asleeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I hope that you also have a little piece of heaven for yourself somewhere on this planet, we all need that little space where we can be ourselves and enjoy some moments of silent solitude, to help us recharge our energy, and to be ready to face the joys and challenges of life head-on. This will be one of the last Fridays I'll have to work, as of the week after next, I should be able to return to my 4-day schedule, so that I can finallyfinally focus on my photos and movies again, a pleasurable past-time that I had to massively neglect since the beginning of this year, because my day-job required me to invest a lot more of my valuable time into making some loaded Moneymasters on some other continent even richer, while giving up big chunks of my own life to do so. I am soooooo looking forward to having time again to do things I really care about, all I need now is some rain and a bit of sunshine, and we're good to go :)

A big disadvantage of taking puddle pictures is that I can't really see what's going on around me, because I'm staring at the ground through the screen of my camera, often blinded by the sun, and I only notice pretty girls passing by when I'm back home, looking at the pictures on my PC. This means that I'm missing out on plenty of chances to engage a lovely lady in an interesting conversation revolving around the fact that I'm not a madman, but an internationally acclaimed photographer, who is famous for hunching over wet spots, not because he hears voices out of them, but because there's a whole other world hiding in them...the puddles, not the pretty ladies...or wait, actually, in them too, lol :D

Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. One of the things I like about the visitors of the best city in the world, is that they do their best to adjust to us locals, by renting bikes and experiencing their stay to the fullest by traveling around on them, instead of in cars or busses. Of course they often block traffic or ride as if it's their first time on a bike (which it often really is, I think) but in general it's a good thing, and as you can see, it adds some color and girlieness to the overall Amsterdam flavor :)

Buying new clothes at such a point in your life is like eating chips, you can't eat one, you must eat the whole bag, so I might grab my ATM card today and once again go out there, to make some fashion people even richer by throwing some hard-earned cash at them, in exchange for wearable adult accessories...oh dear God, what is happening to me?! Hahaha :D

AmsterSam The Stylish Reflectah I shot myself in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app and the timer. Lately I sometimes get the feeling that I might actually be growing up to be a responsible Adult, not too often, but sometimes. This is a whole new experience for me and at first I wasn't sure how to respond to this latest challenge life is throwing at me (I mean, c'mon, growing up is soooo boring and completely overrated, lol :) but I somehow managed to overcome the initial fear, frustration and confusion by taking my ATM card and going for some serious shopping in Downtown Amsterdam. I ended up buying these fancy pants, a shiny white shirt, some proper sneakers and other attributes of Adulthood, and when I showed up at work the next Monday morning, all dressed up and mature-looking, my colleagues called Security and had me escorted from the building, as they took me for an Imposter trying to impersonate their favorite team-mate, this wicked, stylish Reflectah. Needless to say, I sneaked back into the building and secretly slaved away my wickedhigh workload of the day...let this be a lesson to you, don't even try being anybody but your very self, hehehe :)
