Saturday 30/03/2013 The Sjem Bakkus Expo Shots of the opening of the Sjem Bakkus Expo @ the Duivel last night in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. Last night I went to the opening of the Sjem Bakkus Expo @ the Duivel, it was a great evening with lots of cool people, awesome art, funky beats, and of course the Obsessive Compulsive Doodler, the Artmaking Machine, the Dood(l)e himself, the mad-amazing Sjem Bakkus, men wanna be him, women wanna be with him! What a wicked event, thanks a lot guys&girls :) Sjem Bakkus Expo Movies I made 2 movies of the expo too, check them out on my YouTube channel, thank you :) Tuesday 26/03/2013 People, Hell And Angels Unedited window reflections of the 'Concerto' store in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Life really is a mixed bag of good stuff and bad stuff, and sometimes you get to experience both in the same day, yesterday was one of those days for me, some really nice things happened to me and then somebody had to share their portion of Monday Misery with me, probably thinking 'Hey, if I feel bad, I want others to feel bad too!', and that's fair enough, we all do our share of shaping this world, and if somebody prefers to be a grumpyhead instead of trying to make it through the day with a smile and a bit of gratefulness for all the awesome things we have and can do, so be it! I always try not to be influenced by other people's negativity, but sometimes it doesn't work, which only means I'll have to try harder the next time somebody rains on my parade :) Sunday 24/03/2013 24H ASA Yesterday I went to the '24H ASA' event by the Amsterdam Street Art crew , there was a lot of wicked art to see, many awesome people to meet and funky music by some great DJ's, all presented in a cool location, the CASA 400 hotel. I could not stop taking pictures, and I wish I had the money to buy every single piece from every single artist. If you missed it, go there today, there's a special Streetart brunch happening with live painting :) 24H ASA Movies I've made 2 movies of the event as well, watch them on my YouTube channel, thanks :) Tuesday 19/03/2013 Ride Into The Light! Unedited shots of Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. Sometimes in life you face a situation that forces you to make a tough decision, and we often tend to try to avoid that, there is nothing as comfy as continuing down a path that might not bring us to where we want to be, but it is the path of the least resistance, so against better knowledge, we travel in a direction we don't want to go in, but can't or won't help it. But sometimes we have to face our fears, part from the safe road, destroy what destroys us, go in the other direction and dance to the tune that we choose, follow our own heart and mind and break free from the chains society has shackled us with. This will be the day that we truly become who we are and unleash the full potential of being ourselves. It's a great, exciting, scary and nerve-wrecking thing to do, but it sure feels awesome, try it some time, you won't regret it :) Thursday 14/03/2013 Wicked Reflections Of Amsterdam Unedited puddle reflections of Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Lately I've been shooting more and more pictures that are not wicked reflections, and that can be rather satisfying, but I always keep an eye out for wet patches in the mean streets of the best city in the world, there is nothing else, photography-wise, that makes my heart jump with joy in my manly chest like a proper puddle picture. I don't know why that is, and it seems that there is nothing I can do about it, so please don't judge me for spending considerable amounts of my spare time hunched over the residue of the regular rain that our lovely little country is so famous for, instead of furthering the cause of mankind, I just can't help it, I'm addicted! I sure hope there'll be an organization or some support group to overcome this handicap one day, so that I can become a valuable member of society as well and spend my time and money on acquiring material possessions instead of the creation of stoopid puddle pictures, lol :D Wicked Reflection Video I've made a wicked puddle movie too, watch it on my YouTube channel, thanks :) Tuesday 12/03/2013 School Is Cool The lovely Miss Myscha Oréo Lighthart and her model in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. Yesterday I had the honor and pleasure to attend a Photoshoot with the talented and lovely Myscha Oréo Lighthart in a semi-abandoned former school building (the only person still living there threatened to call the cops, so we had to shoot him...with our cameras of course, lol). It was very interesting to see a Pro at work and to learn from her. Thank you for letting me be part of the experience Miss Lighthart, it was awesome and very inspiring to watch you do your thing! Go and 'Like' her Facebook page, it's good for you :) Friday 08/03/2013 Welcome To Bling-Bling Town Unedited reflections of Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Amsterdam used to be the place where all the Slackers, Squatters, Hippies and relaxed people go when they were chased out of their own town with torches and hay forks by the decent citizens, but in the last 10 years or so, we have started changing this city into Bling-Bling town, it has become a resort for rich people who surely don't want to have to look at Hookers or Stoners when they come to spend all that cash that was squeezed out of the bank accounts of the regular, working folks, on luxury items, so City Hall happily obliged and removed most elements that might upset those big spenders, turning Amsterdam into a shiny, sleek, wet dream for every fat cat and into the nightmare of everybody who actually has to make ends meet the hard way. I'm not saying rich people are all bastards that should be shot and thrown into the Amstel, even though this is a concept we might eventually have to apply, but I am sure there are enough places that already meet the high-class demands of the 1% ruling this world, there was no need at all to transform this unique city into yet another glass-and-mirror palace of consumerism, but then again, what do I know about the urges and wishes of those ruthless F***ers running the system, they probably won't be happy until we're all servants and butlers in their brave new world order, lol :D Wednesday 06/03/2013 Reflections Of Amsterdam Unedited puddle reflections in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Lately I am trying to shoot more 'regular' pictures, because my friends keep telling me that as wicked as my reflections may be, sometimes people want to see other, less confusing stuff, so I happily obliged, posting photos of the sunshine, the people, the bikes and all those other lovely things that make Amsterdam such a cool city, but secretly, when nobody was watching, I squeezed some puddle pictures into the sequence, please don't tell my friends, they might dunk my head into the nearest puddle, hahaha :D Puddle Movie I've made a movie of this puddle too, watch it on my YouTube channel, thanks :) Tuesday 05/03/2013 In The Sunshine Sunshine in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. Yesterday we experienced a beautiful, sunny Spring day in Amsterdam, the first one in a long time, and everybody went outside to enjoy the warm rays of light, it was wonderful. Today seems to be an even sunnier, lovlier day, so I'm going to put on my short pants now and take my camera for a spin in the sunshine :) Sunset Video I've made a movie of the sunset yesterday as well, watch it on my YouTube channel, thanks :) Monday 04/03/2013 Oosterpark Photo Contest And the 1st price winner of the 'Ik hou van het Oosterpark' photo contest, with this shot of a girl enjoying the blue sky in the park, is AmsterSam, yay!! The winning pictures can be seen at the Hotel Arena from March 4 until March 24 :) Sunday 03/03/2013 United Colors Of Amsterdam Colors in Amsterdam. Taken with a Panasonic DMC-FZ8 and a C905 mobile phone. Amsterdam, the best city in the world, is full of colors and flavors. The people, the bikes, the buildings, the sky, they are everywhere and sometimes it all reminds me of that 'United Colors' campaign by Benetton, and considering that Amsterdam is the place with the most different nationalities living together in one city, I guess we're kind of a living advertisement for a multicultural model-society that will eventually be the norm everywhere else as well. The world is getting smaller every day and we're all getting closer to each other, creating a beautiful, colorful and mixed up planet that will one day be so interlinked and connected that the idea of war will be so absurd and laughable that nobody will want to be associated with such a bizarre notion...I can't wait for that day :) Last Month |
