Wednesday 31/03/2010 Westerpark Slightly edited mobile phone cam shots of the Westerpark in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I love the Westerpark, it's huge, it's green and accessible to bikes...in the Summer you can swim in this little pool or play Tennis or just hang out on the grass, have a BBQ and enjoy the sunshine in the best city in the world...I am really looking forward to the next 7 months, it's gonna be fun :) Tuesday 30/03/2010 Perry Como Was Here Unedited shot of a biker, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Of course Perry Como was not here, or if he was, he never told me...maybe because he's dead. I don't really know anything about Perry, his name just popped up in my head when I tried to think of a funky, wicked, descriptive title for this shot...maybe tomorrow. Almost weekend! Foam Party @ Dell Unedited mobile phone cam shot of Greenpeace taking over the Dell building in Amsterdam. Shot with my C905 mobile phone. Yesterday Greenpeace went to the building of Dell in Amsterdam and hung a giant sign on the front saying "Michael Dell Clean up Toxics". They also had this truck that had some foam-canon kind of installation and kept pumping soap-foam on the square in front of the main entrance. If they would have played some loud music, I'm sure lots of people would have joined the fun and made it an even cooler event. I've uploaded some pictures I took there to the local news site 'AT5' and they posted them, yay :) Monday 29/03/2010 The Puddle Bully Unedited shot of two guys and a lamp pole, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I don't know if it's just me, but the guy on the right seemed to try to bully the guy on the left by staring him down...little did he know that I don't accept any bullying in my puddles, so I dunked his head into the water to calm him down and ran him over with my bike repeatedly when he would not adjust his behavior in an appropriate manner...yes, I can be stern (but fair!) if necessary ;-)) Wicked Videos or your viewing pleasure I've also made some movies of this puddle, check them out on my YouTube page! Sunday 28/03/2010 Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'... Unedited shot of a giant Ferris wheel, reflected in a puddle in the Westerpark in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Dedicated to Martatje for liking my last shot of this ferris wheel so much that she made me send her a big print of it all the way to Portugal. I love the Ferris wheel in the park, it adds a certain flavor to the Amsterdam mix and even though I would never get on because I'm afraid of heights, I like watching it spinning around and around and around, wiiiuuuu, wiiiuuuu, wiiiuuuuuuu :D Invasion Of The AmsterSwans I happened to be a witness to another giant thing, the Invasion of Amsterdam by swans and ducks, luckily I've made a movie and uploaded it to my YouTube page! The Swan Invasion Movie, is dedicated to Mirthe Duindam, the queen of swan photography :) Parakeet In Paradise Unedited shot of one of the wild Rose-ringed Parakeets that live in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. Dedicated to Pamela, for liking Amsterdam and these birdies almost as much as I do. As you might know, we have a healthy, happy community of wild Rose-ringed Parakeets in the best city in the world, and now that it's Spring, they swarm all over town again, looking for the juiciest plants to eat and the best sunspots to chill. Lucky me, they just happen to love that big chestnut tree in my backyard, so every year I get to see them feasting&resting on that tree. I've also uploaded these shots to the website of the local news station AT5 and they posted them, yay :) Parakeet In Paradise Movies I've made some movies of this lovely birdie having lunch too, check them out on my YouTube page! An Ode To Chatroulette Saturday 27/03/2010 Downhill Unedited shot of a biker at the Haarlemmerpoort, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. The Haarlemmerpoort remains one of my favorite buildings&photo motives in the best city in the world, every time I see it, I think for a second that I've biked too far and went all the way to Berlin, even though every child in Amsterdam knows that you'll end up in Detroit if you keep biking down that street long enough ;-) Haarlemmerpoort Movies Of course I shot some new wicked reflection movies of this puddle as well, view them on my YouTube page! Friday 26/03/2010 Dam Bikey Unedited shot of my beloved Bikey, chilling out in the sunrise on the Dam square in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Thank God it's Friday! This week was the first where I hopped back on Bikey and went to work after my horrible bike accident and it mostly went fine...obviously I was a bit nervous about biking through the best city in the world after that traumatizing experience, but except for 2 situations (once I almost fell when I rolled over a tree part while going into a steep corner, and one time I almost got hit by this Moroccan kid on his scooter, who just came flying out of this tiny alley but luckily missed me by a few inches, or I would not be sitting here writing this :) there was no danger and I really enjoyed roaming freely again through lovely, sunny, Spring'ish Amsterdam :)) Dam Bikey Movie Of course I shot a new wicked reflection movie of Bikey in this puddle, check it out on my YouTube page! Thursday 25/03/2010 The Gentle Giant Awakes Unedited shot of the Royal Palace on the Dam square in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This week Spring has really started, the sun is shining, the air is warm(ish) and the girls are showing their longs legs again...within hours Amsterdam was transformed from a gray, wet, unfriendly place right back into the best city in the world and you can tell by the faces of the people that everybody is overjoyed and majorly excited to finally be able to hang out in the billions of bars, cafes, terraces, gardens and parks again, what a difference some yellow light can make :) The Golden Giant Naturally I shot a new wicked reflection movie of this puddle as well, don't forget to check it out on my YouTube page! Wednesday 24/03/2010 Trauma Therapy Slightly edited shot of the bench that caused my horrible bike accident almost 3 weeks ago , taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some fiddling with contrast&saturation to make the bench look evil, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday I went back to the place of my horrible bike accident to face, confront and work away the trauma this unhappy event has left behind, I keep thinking about the accident and see/feel the last seconds of the crash over and over again in my mind (and my shoulder still hurts, ouch!), so I figured going back there might help. I took this shot, then edited it to make the bench look murderous and evil but it didn't work :) Trauma Therapy The Movie I've also made a cool new movie of the killer-bench and the reflection in the canal, check it out on my YouTube page, thank you :) Tuesday 23/03/2010 Jaxxxuar Unedited shot of buildings, bikes and a Jaguar X (I believe), reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I really like this shot, it looks funky...what I also like about it is that you can see the Jaguar X (I believe) standing around that I tried a new wicked reflection movie style on...check out the result on my YouTube page, thank you :) Jaxxxuar The Movie I've shot a new wicked reflection movie of the Jaguar that you see in the photo above, watch it on my YouTube page! Did you like it? Here's another one :) Monday 22/03/2010 Sunshine Unedited shot of a bike (not mine, mine is much prettier :), reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I am going back to work today after spending 2 weeks at home following my horrible bike accident, waiting for my damaged shoulder to heal and allow me to take part in regular life in the best city in the world again...I think I'll take the tram instead of the bike though, don't want to risk anything, a Monday morning in Amsterdam is dangerous enough, haha ;-D Bikes Love Sunshine I've shot a new wicked reflection movie of this very bike, watch it on my YouTube page! Spring! Unedited shot of a lady on her bike, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. The first day of Spring was really enjoyable even though it started of with a bit of rain but luckily then the sun broke through the clouds, so I grabbed my new cam and strolled through the best city in the world inhaling the healing sunshine, it was lovely and reminded me of the good times we'll have in the months to come :) Gutter Vision I've also shot a wicked reflection movie of this puddle, check it out on my YouTube page! Spring Discount Finally, it's Spring, yay! To celebrate, here's a special offer for the AmsterS@m Shop: from 22 March to 7 April 2010 you'll get 10% discount with a minimum order value of 20 euros. Simply use the voucher code “HELLOSUN” when you check out :)) Sunday 21/03/2010 It's Spring!!! Finally, it's Spring, yay! To celebrate, here's a special offer for the AmsterS@m Shop: from 22 March to 7 April 2010 you'll get 10% discount with a minimum order value of 20 euros. Simply use the voucher code “HELLOSUN” when you check out :)) Searching For Spring Unedited shot of tourists searching for Spring in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. So, today Spring begins and it starts just like the Winter ended, rainy, gray and uneventful...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll get some warm sunny days soon so that I can shed my thick fur and spend my days strolling around and hanging out in the parks with my friends, eating ice cream, having BBQs and laughing at the tourists walking around with a map, trying to find Spring ;-)) Spring Starts Here Unedited shot of a biker, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I really miss riding my bike...because of my horrible accident I didn't use it in over 2 weeks now, I think the longest bike-less period since I was 3 years old and it's really getting to me...I'm walking everywhere and as much as I enjoy seeing the best city in the world in more detail because of this slower way of transportation, I miss rushing&racing through it in my usual mode and I can't wait to hop back on my beloved Bikey asap :) Begijnhof I've shot a new wicked reflection movie yesterday as well, watch it on my YouTube page! Saturday 20/03/2010 Back In Business! Slightly edited shot of a my head exploding, reflected in a mirror, taken with my NEW Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yay, I got a new cam!!! And it's the same freakin' cool zapper I've used in the last years, the funky wicked Panasonic DMC-FZ8. In the last year I really grew to love this cam despite its many buttons, options and settings (confusing!) and I started it using a lot lately (also to shoot my wicked movies) until my horrible bike accident 2 weeks ago where I smashed it when I fell...luckily my friend Mr P offered to sell me his Pana for a really good price and last night we met to finalize the deal...thank you so much dude, you've made my life better :))) Ugly Building This is a bit unusual for me, a wicked reflection movie of an ugly building...usually I shoot pretty buildings, I don't know what I was thinking...for the beautiful buildings films go to my YouTube page! Royal S@m Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of Me&Mobie, reflected on the entrance to the royal Carré theater in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I just love the Carré, it's such a beautiful building and it sits right there by the Amstel, watching the boats and bikes go by, softly singing at us, making life in the best city in the world even better with its presence and spirit...yes, I do need more coffee, I'm obviously woozy in the head, maybe I'll go and dance in the rain a bit to wake up...have a wonderful weekend :))) SamSam Slightly edited shot of myself reflected on the security system outside the TomTom office in Amsterdam, taken with a Panasonic DMC-FX35. No editing besides some added contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I pass by the TomTom office a lot and I almost always meet nice people that I know that work there. If you have a TomTom and you ever call them for assistance, you are very likely talking to a friend of mine, so be nice...what a tiny world this is and thanks to those great people you'll always know where in it you are and where you are going :) Friday 19/03/2010 Headless Unedited shot of a biker at the Spuiplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle, taken with a borrowed Panasonic DMC-FX35. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This puddle is one of my favorites, it's almost always available, even after weeks without a single drop of rain and it's surrounded by pretty buildings...of course it gets boring after a while to keep taking the same shot over and over again, but I try to add some variety and different angles to make it look interesting and different, hopefully I succeeded :) Spuiplein Reflection Movie I've also shot a wicked reflection movie of this puddle, check it out on my YouTube page! Vague Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of people and buildings, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This shot is a bit unusual for me, normally I prefer clear reflections that show every detail of the various surprised/annoyed/intimidated reactions of the peoples faces to a guy hunching over a puddle shooting them, it's just too much fun to see them trying to figure out what's going on to not do it, but this time I went for the colors and the nice vagueness&blur, I hope you don't mind. Thank God it's Friday :) Kalverstraat Reflection Movie And yes, there is a wicked reflection movie of this puddle, check it out on my YouTube page! Thursday 18/03/2010 Sunny Side Up UUnedited mobile phone cam shot of bikers crossing the 'Skinny Bridge', reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I just love the 'Skinny Bridge', every time I pass by or over it I want to stop and take a moment basking in the beauty of the city, hear the seagulls yell and watch the pigeons get crushed by cars...how come they are the only birds stoopid enough to get themselves killed regularly? I've never seen a dead seagull or Magpie in the streets, so I guess it's safe to assume that pigeons are the Random Reflection Movie Just another one of my wicked reflection movies, check out the rest of them on my YouTube page! The 80 Million Dollar Blue It seems that Bing has found the Holy Grail of link colors, according to them, by using the color '#0044CC' they hope that "the best blue color could generate $80 million to $90 million in ad sales.". I've hopped on that Gravy-train by changing the color of all the links on my site to '#0044CC' yesterday and I've quit my dayjob, now I'm just sitting here, waiting for the money to roll in, haha ;-P Image 'borrowed' from http://images2.layoutsparks.com! The Game Wednesday 17/03/2010 IamsterSam Unedited shots of the giant 'Iamsterdam' sign outside the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. So, the 'a' and the 'm', the letters that were stolen last month are back...it seems that 'Sony Entertainment' just 'borrowed' them to promote their latest product. Since those letters were paid for with tax money, I guess Sony owns each and every person in Amsterdam an apology for messing with our mighty icons...a free Playstation would be acceptable ;-)) IamsterSam The Movie I've also made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle, check it out on my YouTube page! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today is St. Patrick's Day, have a great, green time! Image 'borrowed' from http://girls.gunaxin.com! Image 'borrowed' from http://girls.gunaxin.com! Starbucks Rap This is hilarious, the Starbucks Rap, haha :-D Taco Bell Rap And another one, the Taco Bell Rap :-D Tuesday 16/03/2010 Just Friends Unedited mobile phone cam shot of a guy and a girl, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. See that guys look? He seems to indicate with his undecided stare that he's not sure if he should assume the role of worried boyfriend and kick me into the gutter for taking a low angle shot of the wider Punani area of his (wannabe) girlfriend or if he should let it slide and fess up to the fact that he wants to get some but can't get some, because she just thinks he's 'cute' (that's never gonna work out!) and not BF material...life can be so harsh sometimes, haha. Of course I made this whole story up, I'm sure they are having a satisfactory, healthy relationship and he can get some whenever he feels like it :-D Just Friends The Movie I've also made a wicked reflection movie of this spot with a borrowed DMC-FX35, check it out on my YouTube page! Happy 25th Birthday '.com'! Yesterday was the 25th Birthday of the '.com' Top Level Domain, truly a cause for celebration because without that special day www.amstersam.com would not be here today to make your life better, brighter and more colorful...Happy Birthday '.com' :))) Image 'borrowed' from http://www.myspace.com! The Money Masters Did you know that the maximum tax rate in the Netherlands is the 3rd highest in the world? I'm pleasantly surprised, that means that we still have enough cash to pay up to 52% taxes, yay ;-P Image 'borrowed' from http://www.creditloan.com! Click on it for the bigger version! Monday 15/03/2010 Starry Night Slightly edited shot of a church reflected in the Singel canal in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Even though I took this shot in the morning, it looks a bit like a starry night in the best city in the world...this was one of the last picture I took with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8, just 5 minutes later I had my horrible bike accident and broke it when I hit the ground...now the excitement of getting a new cam is sloooowly overshadowing the pain that I still have in my shoulder&leg, so soon everything's gonna be just fine&dandy :) Starry Night Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this spot before the cam got smashed, check it out on my YouTube page! Famous People Wiki Painting This is so cool, a 'painting' of all kinds of famous people, if you click on any of them, you'll get a Wiki page telling you about those people :) Image 'borrowed' from http://www.anactivesite.ch:8080! Flirting 2.0 We've all been waiting for this, a chart that helps us to visualize the modern, geeky Web 2.0 equivalent of old school flirting steps :) Image 'borrowed' from http://cakeheadlovesevil.wordpress.com! Sunday 14/03/2010 Easy Going Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of people reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. It is amazing how a bit of sunshine can make life so much more colorful, interesting and fun...as soon as the first rays touch the skin of the good folks of the best city in the world, we drop our clothes&bodies to the ground, call our friends, grab a drink&smoke and celebrate this beautiful thing called Spring...unfortunately 2010 has not (yet!) spoiled us with sunshine, so this scenario is mostly happening inside the 'Wishful Thinking' part of my distorted brain, haha :D Random Reflection Movie Just a random reflection movie from the best city in the world...more wickedness on my YouTube page :) The Google Beast Check out this movie visually highlighting how Google is taking over the planet, it's fun :) Naked&Gaga Finally, Lady Gaga has shed the last bits of clothes and presents herself completely naked in her latest video for the song 'Telephone' :) Forehead Boobage Are you a woman and tired of having us guys stare at your chest instead of looking in your eyes while talking to you?! Then you need Forehead Tittaes! If you are a guy and you are wondering what the correct way of approaching public cleavage is, try this dude's advice at your own risk ;-P "First you sneak a look at them and then look away. Then, in a cartoon like fashion you do a doubletake, look back with your eyes open as wide as possible, wolf whistle, snort, make a grasping motion with both hands and say something restrained and tasteful like "Wow! I'd love to sink my teeth into that juicy pair!" in an artificially loud voice, before finally pawing the ground with one of your feet like a bull about to charge. This subtle behaviour works best in mixed company. Even if the girl in question might not immediately sleep with you she probably will smile and let you cop a feel after such a compliment and demonstration of wit. Give it a go and good luck!" Chatroulette You have probably heard of Chatroulette already, but have you tried it yet?! It's hilarous and if you can survive the occasional guy doing the 'Rock out with your Cock out' without getting too traumatized, this will be your new favorite toy, start up your webcam and go nuts! Saturday 13/03/2010 Going Dutch Slightly edited shot of a couple that just got married in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. You might have heard the expression 'Going Dutch', it usually indicates that you are in the presence of a cheapskate and should be prepared to cough up the cash to pay for your own drinks/food/drugs, because the other person sure as hell won't do it. For the poor lady in this shot it means not going to a fancy Hotel for drinks after her Wedding, as you can see her Husband stole a bottle and 2 glasses and is inviting her to a royal feast in the middle of a public square...looks like a happy Marriage from over here, haha ;-D Lazy Amsterdam Afternoon I've made a movie of the Spuiplein in Amsterdam, I was just chilling out in front of the Coffee Company, enjoying the good life, shooting the area around me...watch it on my YouTube page! McCheapskate McDonald's is also mocking the Dutch cheapness at the moment with this commercial, lol :)) Friday 12/03/2010 RadioXXXtive City Slightly edited shot of the sun shining on the pretty Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, taken with a Panasonic DMC-FX35. No editing besides some added contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Usually I shoot this building reflected in puddles, but when I walked by a few days ago and saw the flag of the best city in the world proudly wobble around in the radioactive winds, I had to crush a tiny tear running down my cheek because it was so beautiful to see and it made me once again happy, glad and overexcited to realize that I am one of the lucky chosen few who live in the 'City that never sweeps' (you might have noticed our dirty streets)...lucky me! RadioXXXtive Video I've made a wicked reflection movie of the Hotel in this very puddle, check it out on my YouTube page! The Global Seed Vault Did you know that we have a Global Seed Vault that has been "established to preserve a wide variety of plant seeds from locations worldwide in an underground cavern. The seed vault holds duplicate samples, or "spare" copies, of seeds held in genebanks worldwide. The seed vault will provide insurance against the loss of seeds in genebanks, as well as a refuge for seeds in the case of large scale regional or global crises.". Good thinking I'd say :)) Image 'borrowed' from http://shastrix.blogspot.com! Google In Your Ear Here's a nice review of the 'Google Nexus One Android' smartphone...if I wasn't too paranoid about Google knowing every little detail about my online life, I might actually buy one :) Image 'borrowed' from http://www.reghardware.co.uk! Thursday 11/03/2010 Lost Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of a Duck on my roof window in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I was sitting around in my Studio the other day when I heard a commotion on the roof. A duck had found its way up there and was swarmed by seagulls...not sure if they tried to eat the duck (delicious with sweet-sour sauce!) or if they were jealous that Duckie was standing on top of my window getting all the attention. Whatever the cause for the ruckus, I just had enough time to snap 2 shots and a short video of it before it flew away :) Duckie Style Video Unedited movie of the same Duck chilling out on my roof...unfortunately it flew away after a few seconds but you can entertain yourself some more by watching the wicked reflection movies on my YouTube page :) Wednesday 10/03/2010 Infinity Unedited shot of boats and typical Amsterdam buildings reflected in the Singel canal, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8 before I smashed it in my horrible bike accident. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Too bad that my broken cam did not have a wide angle/panorama setting, if I could have followed this scene further to the right, I'm sure the sidewalk and the canal would meet somewhere down the line instead of running parallel to each other for infinity, as they should be...or maybe it's just an optical illusion :) Swan Lake Unedited movie of the Amstel and a hotel reflected in it...check out the swans passing by! More wicked reflection films on my YouTube page :) Citycycling The good people of the Citycycling site have used one of my wicked reflections and made it look even fancier :) Image 'borrowed' from http://www.citycycling.co.uk! Space Invaders Remember Space Invaders?! Here's a free online version, fun, fun, fun :D Image 'borrowed' from http://superfunkworld.free.fr! Tuesday 09/03/2010 Le Croque Monsieur Unedited mobile phone cam shot of a church and people, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I really like how this dude looks like he's promoting Frenchness (the hat!) and his way of combining it with Dutchness (the bike!) is just marvelous. I'd buy a baguette from this Monsieur any time :) The Croque Video Unedited movie of the same puddle, shot with my iPod nano. Unfortunately the iPod always auto-turns so the reflection is upside-down, but yeah...more wicked movies on my YouTube page :) Monday 08/03/2010 If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Right Now! Unedited shot of boats and typical Amsterdam buildings reflected in the Singel canal, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8 before I smashed it in my horrible bike accident. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This is one of my favorite spots in the best city in the world, the buildings are beautiful, there's plenty of water and in the Summer you can sit on the bridge and have drinks with your friends while watching the boats and bikes go by...I want Spring now but instead it started to snow again today :) Stay Gold Unedited mobile phone cam shot of people and buildings, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This weekend I saw a movie with Matt Dilon and it reminded me of his old movies 'The Outsiders' and 'Rumble Fish'...I really like both of them and I even fondly remember a time in my life where me and my friends were so enchanted by the story of Ponyboy and his friends that we would quote from the movie often and try to be as rough and tough as the boys in it, we'd only wear Levi's 501's and Chucks all the time, emulating a life style we would not have liked very much if it would have been forced upon us by fate, but on the screen it looked all cool and desirable...stay gold! Image 'borrowed' from http://www.lowe-impact.com! The Gold Video Unedited movie of me biking through Amsterdam and finally finding some puddle to reflect people and buildings in. Shot with my iPod nano. Unfortunately the iPod always auto-turns so the reflection is upside-down, but yeah...more wicked movies on my YouTube page :) Cool Pics I came across the photo stream of the cool MightyMac <3 on Flickr and wanted to share this with you...definitely NSFW but worth risking going to Hell for, haha ;-D Image 'borrowed' from http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirmightymac! Update: It seems that you have to be logged in to Flickr and have your account set to 'Show me the wicked stuff' to see the shots like the one above...sorry if you don't have that option, but you'll still see some nice photos on that stream anyway, just not the wicked ones ;-) Hemp Your Ride "High-End Hemp Speakers Are All the Buzz!"...wait, did they just say "High-End Hemp Speakers Are All the Buzz!"?!? WTF? Image 'borrowed' from http://www.wired.com! Sunday 07/03/2010 Pee-Wee Herman Unedited shot of a boy&his bike, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam, taken with a Panasonic DMC-FX35. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I am still in massive pain after my horrible bike accident last Thursday, but at least I have recovered enough to be able to put on clothes by myself and I can even make coffee&smoke, 2 of my favorite activities. It's another beautiful, sunny, cold day in the best city in the world (I've had the first coffee of the day sitting outside in the shiny light, lovely!) and I think I'll spend it doing as little as possible, you should do the same! Enjoy :) Pee-Wee Herman The Video I've also shot a video of young Pee-Wee Herman here, check it out on my YouTube page :) Saturday 06/03/2010 Amstel Unedited shots of typical Amsterdam buildings reflected in the Amstel, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. The Amstel is my favorite river, it's big but not too big, it's got pretty houses sitting by its side and in the Summer its full of people and their boats having a good time...I think every city should have a major river to further the fun and friendship among the citizens :) Amstel The Video Of course I've also shot a video at the same spot, check it out on my YouTube page :) Friday 05/03/2010 Turn Me On! Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of Myself, reflected on the front of a PC. Taken with my C905phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. After the horrible bike accident I've had yesterday, I am forced to sit at home with plenty of pain, waiting for the healing to begin...my knee and hand are bloodied and crusty, my shoulder feels like somebody hit me with a sledgehammer and in general this does not seem to be my week...thank God it's Friday at least. Have a nice weekend and if you get bored, watch the movie that shows my ride towards disaster :D Wicked Video This is one of the last movies I've made with my cam, a little later I had that horrible bike accident and broke it.... Thursday 04/03/2010 AmsterSlam Unedited self portrait shot using the timer of my phone cam, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I had a nasty accident while shooting this Movie today, in the very last scene you can see that somethings wrong, the cam gets all shaky...that was just a split second before I tried to stop, but instead slipped off and slammed with my shoulder into the bench you see me approaching :(( I could feel my shoulder pop out of its socket, popped it back in and realized at the same moment that my cam was broken, I'm not sure what hurt more...now I'm sitting at home with plenty of pain, the doc said take some Aspirin and rest, a typical Dutch all-round cure for any kind of health issue, so I guess I'll just walk it off or something...this is the movie of my ride towards disaster :) AmsterS@m Does Democracy Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of me in the voting booth in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday we had the Elections for the Gemeenteraad, the local city governments and I could not resist taking a picture of my reflection just before exercising my democratic right&duty to vote for the candidate/party I trust most not to mess things up too badly...and I'd like to remark how very considerate it is of the voting commitees to have a reflecting surface handy in the booth for voting wicked Reflectah's, thank you :) Wednesday 03/03/2010 Spring Is In The Air UUnedited mobile phone cam shot of my bike chilling out in the park, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Monday&Tuesday morning the Sun started shining and has brought a lovely, sunny week to the best city in the world...but don't get used to it, the Weatherman says it's going to snow again next weekend! I'm not sure if I can deal with any more of the white stuff, I think I'm going to implode the moment the first flake hits my skin...sigh. Just 17 more days until Spring starts, yay! Unfortunately we'll have less of those lovely days, thanks to the earthquake last week in Chile...weird :) Tuesday 02/03/2010 Hooked Unedited mobile phone cam shot of a biker, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Do you see that big hook on the tree? The trees use those hooks to pull unsuspecting bikers and their steel horses off the street, swing them high up into the air, drop them in their wooden snouts, devouring the poor people and their bikes, only to burp up some wrinkly spokes and crushed bones once they're done...that's why we all bike so fast all the time in the best city in the world ;-)) Monday 01/03/2010 Sleepyhead Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of a biker and buildings, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. In the last weeks I sleep for up to 10-11 hours whenever I get a chance, something I'm not used to, my normal night lasts 5-7 hours and I'm fine with that, last year from around September I even had a period where I would wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning and start the day, now it's the exact opposite, I start feeling like I need to hibernate for a couple of weeks or something...maybe I'm just catching up with missed sleep from 2009 :) Doomed City Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of a biker and buildings, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. We're doomed! Doomed to continue building the new Metro line that will cause the whole beautiful city of Amsterdam to collapse into the giant tunnel system that will be drilled very soon, after decades of delays in the preparations and exploding costs that start more and more to look like the typical price for a month of war in Iraq/Afghanistan/Wherever...those huge holes will probably really good for taking puddle pictures though, so I won't object to the finalization of this megalomaniac project ;-P Amsterdam Reflected I've also made a new wicked puddle movie of this building, check it out on my YouTube page!
