June 2K9 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sunday 28/06/2009 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Welcome to Fabulous Amsterdam! This is my newest fridge magnet, it was a Present from a friend, who was also nice enough to pose with it for this shot. I totally adore it, looks good, don't you think?! Of course the Amsterdam Red Light District is not only fabulous and fun to look at, it is also a breeding ground for all kinds of criminal activities, that's why the Amsterdam city council has decided a few years ago to clean up the rotten Sodom'ish core of the best city in the world. They chased the Hookers out into the rain and gave the windows to Art&Fashion students. They bought the buildings owned (for decades!) by 'Criminals' for manymany millions of (our tax) euros, only to convert them to glittery luxury boutiques and restaurants that us locals can't afford to go to. They closed down coffeeshops and outlawed Magic Mushrooms. They made it illegal to drink a beer in a coffeeshop or smoke a cigarette virtually anywhere. Police everywhere in the streets, at any time. To make it clear that they are actually mocking us, they outlawed standing up while consuming beverages on a terrace. Yes, you heard it right, standing up while drinking a beer on a terrace is illegal in Amsterdam! What a Brainfart! And still no march on city hall, no burning barricades, just the occasional moaning&bitching (usually mine, hehe ;) but no action, while in front of our unbelieving eyes Amsterdam became Boring-town, perfectly suitable for Squares and young families. I've spend a lot of time&words in the past complaining about the Busters on top treating us like stoopid kids, trying to change the lovely Cesspool this city once was into a sick vision that only works inside their heads, and I'm tired of it, so I'll go with the flow and put on my best, bravest 'XXX Smile' pretending that all is fine&dandy in Sin City, that's much easier than getting upset about it :)) The Summer is still sprinkled with the occasional rain shower, so there are some wicked puddles out there, check the results of my latest Downtown trip with my mobile phone...as always, no Photoshop, no tricks and editing :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Saturday 27/06/2009 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Thank you Michael :)) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Friday 26/06/2009 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The King is dead... Image 'borrowed' from La Higuera! No matter how freakish and scary Michael Jackson became over the years, there was a time when he was the coolest man alive and nobody could fuck with him...I miss the old Michael and I hope that 2Pac is teaching him at this moment how to roll Blunts up there in Music heaven :)) /> Image 'borrowed' from Fanpop.com! And as if the Showbiz Gods are mad at us mere viewers and listeners, yesterday an actual Angel went back to heaven, largely unnoticed and overshadowed by MJ's departure just hours later, the lovely Farrah Fawcett :(( Image 'borrowed' from Widetrends.com! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sunday 21/06/2009 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I've created an account on RedBubble today, so now everybody who would like to have one of my wicked reflection shots printed, can go there and order one, yay :D If you see a photo on my Flickr stream that is not (yet) on my RedBubble site, send me a mail and I'll upload it for you, thank you, come again :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Tuesday 16/06/2009 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx In those sunny moments in between the rain showers, me&my friends hang out in the lazy places in the best city in the world, and this is what it looks like :)) Today is a great day for the Interwebs, the new Opera Browser has been released and if a first glance at the features is anything to go by, their promise to 'shake up the old client-server computing model of the web' seems to come true...the future is today and we'll be taking the Web into our own hands, one computer at a time :-)) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sunday 14/06/2009 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I am very happy with the current Summer'ish weather, we get a couple of sunny days, then some rain, then some sunny days, some more rain, and so on, perfect conditions for XXXtra wicked reflection shots, check out my latest brain-teasers, completely unedited mobile phone shots, no Photoshop, no tricks, as usual :)) You might have noticed that those 3 shots are very different from my usual puddle style, I always try to get the reflected object in the puddle as crisp&clear as possible, but my mobile, the funkycool C905, has a mind of its own when it comes to focusing on the essential parts of a photo...luckily for both of us, and as the above pictures prove, sometimes machines can be smarter than people and all credit for those shots goes to Mobie :) Here are some 'Old School' AmsterS@m reflection shots, my personal favorite flavor of wickedness! Of course not everybody is too excited about the occasional rain-shower that we are experiencing in the best city in the world, but at least there's plenty of Interwebs fun out there to help you waste your day :) Image 'borrowed' from Komikdunya! Here's something I really like and that makes me go LOL, but it also makes me wonder why there aren't currently any Embassies burning across the planet, did the crazy people get tired, or what?! Mhuahahaha ;-D Image 'borrowed' from Jesus and Mo! I know that only bad news are good news, but what do you think about this, Scientists discovered that 'Marijuana Cuts Lung Cancer Tumor Growth In Half', something you're not prone to hear from the major news outlets (this link is a search on CNN for 'Marijuana Cuts Lung Cancer Tumor Growth', it even says 'The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate, or the server has been instructed not to let you have it', lol!). Of course there are and have been manymany really good ideas how to use that evil plant, and believe me, smoking it is by far not the best of them, hehe ;-P Image 'borrowed' from Daily Contempt! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sunday 07/06/2009 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Yesterday I went on a bike trip from the best city in the world, Amsterdam, to a lovely little village/island called Marken. I went with a group of fun, bicycle-loving people, we biked 50 kilometers and had so much sunshine, wind, good vibes and delicious fishy food snacks that I can safely say, it was a perfect Summer day in the best country in the world :) In the left shot you see the group hitting the 'Zeedijk' towards Marken, passing by a modern 'windmill', harvesting the permanent sea-storms, in the middle we're chilling out on top of the dike, with our backs to the Ijsselmeer in the 'Reverse Hans Brinker' style, anticipating the yummie fishy snacks that await us just down the dike, and in the last picture I've captured the windmill standing next to the tiny Brouwerij 't IJ brewery in Amsterdam...it's always good to keep an image of home in your heart when you travel, hehe :) This lovely little village is called 'Durgerdam', and it's only about 10 kilometers away from Amsterdam Central Station, yet it looks and feels like a completely different world. In the top left shot you can see the Amstel tower in the background, it's located next to the Amstel Station and really just around the corner, connecting this old fashioned, traditional part of Holland with the modern world, making it some kind of Little Big Village, or something...of course there's the notorious 'Investment Banker Highway' Ass swooshing through one of the pictures, these guys are just everywhere&very annoying, see this shot for more info on them :) This is the entrance to Here's what 'the Man' has to say about Marken: Marken is an island in the IJsselmeer Lake. A storm surge in the 13th century separated the village from the mainland. The local people are a close-knit community. The main reason for this was their centuries-long isolation. The typically Marken houses and the traditional costume are reminiscent of the past. The dike which was constructed in 1957 once more links the island to the mainland. Image 'borrowed' from Joep Roosen on Flickr! Before the former Zuyder Zee was closed off and became the IJsselmeer Lake, the local people made their money with fishing. Now many people work outside Marken. These days tourism is a major source of income. The village consists of two districts, the Harbor district and the Church district, and eight surrounding mounds. In the old days the island was flooded quite regularly. For this reason, houses were built on stilts and on mounds. Most of the houses are painted dark green and most side-walls project. Image 'borrowed' from Real Travel! In summer the women wear a striped underskirt during the week. They don a full, black skirt and a black apron over this. Over the jacket with striped sleeves, they wear an embroidered bodice and a kind of bolero. A floral wrap is pinned to the front of the bolero. These days, the women usually only wear a small bonnet made of lace, cambric and chintz. The men of the island wear a smock and knickerbockers. The youngest children of the island hardly ever wear traditional costume. Boys and girls do sometimes wear skirts and bonnets, in a wide range of patterns and colors." I call this collage of the actual village of Marken 'Investment Banker Highway' because we were at all times during our trip in dire danger of getting hit by one of the billions of Investment-Banker-type guys on their speedbikes, swooshing by at the speed of light, not wasting a blink of an eye on our safety or well-being...I actually have a nice movie of me almost getting hit by 2 of these Fuckers, hahaha :D These Spandex-wearing guys spend their free time (and now that they're done burning all our cash reserves at their financial institutes, they've got plenty of it!), criss-crossing this tiny country on their racing machines, making it much harder for us relaxed people to have a nice bike trip on the dike, without getting pushed off the tiny bike path and into the Ijsselmeer :) While we were out on our Dike-Bike-Tour, in Amsterdam&elsewhere the people went nuts and got naked&on their bikes (NSFW!), mhuahahaha :-D Image 'borrowed' from Erik Baas on Flickr! One of the motivations for the 'World Naked Bike Ride' was to urge everybody to 'Save the planet', which in itself is a very noble goal, but does not necessarily require looking at those guys bums on bikes...how about making a beautiful movie like 'Home' to achieve the same result?! Looks much better, that's for sure ;-D xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Monday 01/06/2009 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Today is Pentecost, and everything is closed in the good old Netherlands...except for the Snackbars, Coffeeshops, Bars and Red Light district of course, we need the money, sorry ;-) When I tried to go for a refreshing morning swim in my pool today, I was shocked and appalled to discover that a great white shark is living in there! What is this world coming to? Aren't we even safe at home anymore?! And who do you call when you face a situation like this?! The Animal Ambulance?! David? Pam? The Captain from 'Jaws', who screeched his fingernails across the school board, to make the other villagers realize that they'd have to kill the beast to live in peace?! Who, oh, who should I call?! And don't say 'Ghostbusters' now, hahaha ;-D Image 'borrowed' from Michael Crawford's Review of the Week! I just saw that I won the 2nd place in the 'Verliefd op Amsterdam' photo contest with this wicked reflection, yay :D Did you ever wish that Sacha Baron Cohen aka Borat aka Brüno aka Ali G would get his ass capped for making fun of so many 'innocent' people?! I don't, but I do majorly enjoy watching him getting really close to making Eminem so mad, that he has his bodyguards kill him, mhuahaha :D But Brüno is not the only one who's trying to make this world a 'better' place, check out these Blondes from Latvia, on their 'Cheer-up the Nation' march through Riga...their objective was to distract us from the world financial troubles and I think it's safe to say "Mission Accomplished" :D Images 'borrowed' from www.spiegel.de! To bring your IQ back up to the required level to deal with life on a daily basis, please make sure to watch and understand the following video explaining 'The World of Chemistry'! P.s.: Just in case you have not noticed them yet, I've added new 'Easy Sharing' buttons next to each section, so that you can tell you friends about this wicked website from the best city in the world...and keep in mind, sharing is caring :))) Last Month |
