The Bridge Is Open Shots of people waiting at a bridge in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. The Hogesluis is one of my favorite bridges, it crosses the Amstel and it's sitting right next to the beautiful Amstel Hotel, one of the prettiest buildings in the best city in the world, it was re-opened just a few days ago after having been closed off for traffic for the last years for renovation works, now it's done, and it never looked better. The first time I biked across this bridge again last week, I was overcome with joy, and I couldn't wipe a smug smile off my face while riding on the smooth, new surface with my fellow Amsterdammers, it seems we were all happy to take this landmark back into our possession...and to celebrate this event, I took some shots of the people waiting for the bridge to open again after a big boat passed by :)

There's just something royal about a girl on a bike, it looks sporty, it looks sexy and it looks healthy too, and going by the views and reactions my bike girl pictures usually get, I'm clearly not the only one who thinks so, hehe. Taking pictures of a girl with her bike reflected in a puddle makes it even more attractive to look at, at least for me personally, I hope you like this wicked view as much as I do :)

So Fresh And So Clean! Voyeur shots of a girl in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. It's Monday, a new week, a new challenge, are you ready for it? I'm not, inside my head it's still weekend, but at least I look fresh'ish, I had the lady in the picture brush my head with a soapy solution several times, and now I'm all ready to rock, lol. Speaking of the lady in the picture, it seems that my cam is becoming a sleazy Voyeur, I keep catching it in the middle of the act of shooting total strangers in the street when I'm not watching, using its wicked zoom that'll make you see the smallest details, ...the lady was actually in freakin' Rotterdam, cleaning her stairs, that's how strong the zoom is, hahaha :P

I went out last night and came home pretty late, went to sleep when the birds woke up, and once the sun started shining into my bedroom just a few hours later, there was no keeping me under the blanket, I went outside on my balcony, had the first coffee of the day, blinking into the bright, happy sky, remembering the evening spent in good company, and congratulating myself once again for having such awesome friends, that will always make sure that I'm having a great time in the best city in the world...thank you, you're the best :)

Thank God It's Friday! Unedited shots of people reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Thank God it's Friday! I like saying that, even though lately it doesn't mean anything to me personally anymore, because I got to work these crazy shifts, reallyreally early, or reallyreally late, often alternating within one week, and to make it extra-nice, I got to work Saturdays too. My sense of time and space has been utterly corrupted, often I don't know which day it is, or if it's morning, noon or evening, I'm just floating through the days and weeks, confused and dazed, unable to get a grip on the situation...not a good thing! So while everybody is gearing up to enjoy their Friday and the coming relaxing days, I'm packing my bag to get ready to go back to work tomorrow, not sure if my feeble mind can handle it, I hope I won't just bike in the opposite direction and ride into the sunset, or rather the rainset, lol :D

The Last Dance Shots of a Dancer at the Roots Festival in the Oosterpark in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. OK, OK, these are the last pictures of the Bassculture Foundation stage at the Roots Festival in the Oosterpark I'm going to post, I promise! I know it's not my usual reflection stuff, and I know that I've bored most of you to death already with my ongoing Roots Festival Series, but it seems that somehow the drums of this marvelous performance have hypnotized me into dumping every single pictures I took of this wicked Dancer online, I can't help it, it's not like I WANT to post more and more and more photos of an exotic lady shaking her hips, while she's wearing a practically non-existent Flower-Power Bikini, lol :D

When I'm in the city shooting wicked reflections, to those walking by it looks as if I'm taking pictures of the ground, which would be really stoopid, while in reality I am peeking at them, inside another, hidden world through my beloved puddles, and because those walking by always try to figure out just what the hell I am doing, they usually look into the wetness, giving the impression that they are looking at me sitting behind my little wicked window into another Universe, creating a perfect picture. This is called Teamwork, hehehe :)

Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. Amsterdam in the morning is a very beautiful place, long before the masses awake and clog the streets, it's just so pretty to bike through the calm, empty city, listening to some bad-ass Dr Dre old school shizzle while watching the sun come up (well, on those rare days where it's not raining, lol :), it's always a Pleasure and I never get tired of soaking up the atmosphere and the sights and sounds of this special time of the day, lovely stuff :)

The Alien Bikers Unedited shots of Alien Bikers in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Some time ago an Alien Space Race landed their Flying Saucers in the best city in the world, and to avoid being detected, arrested and shot back into the endlessness of the Universe, they adapted to the local style and started a Bike-Taxi service, to the utter joy of the tourists, and the major annoyance of the Amsterdam people. Don't get me wrong, it's not that we mind Aliens doing their thing in our lovely home town, there's always enough room for some more spaced-out folks here, it's just that those freakin' Taxibikes are exactly the same size as our bikepaths, ensuring long traffic-jams of piled up, upset bikers being stuck behind one of those giant vehicles. Dear Aliens, we do understand you like our city, and we appreciate you trying to fit in, but if you don't throw those ugly houses on wheels into the nearest canal voluntarily, we might give you a hand, and you might still be strapped to your cozy seat while those monstrosities are sliding into the cold wet! I'm just saying...lol :D

The Rain Dance Shots of a Dancer doing a Rain Dance in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. Everybody has been wondering where all this rain is coming from, this Summer is the wettest, grayest and crappiest Summer ever, and I'm happy to report that I found the guilty one, it's this lady doing a Rain Dance at the Bassculture Foundation stage at the Roots Festival in the Oosterpark! There was a big crowd watching her, and as much as we all would have loved to stop her from doing her horrible deed, it just looked so bloody awesome how she kept twisting and turning to the hypnotic sound of the drums, that nobody could be bothered to knock her to the ground, or at least try to reason with her to give up the mad plan to force even more water out of the clouds with her teasing hip-shaking, I mean even I am complaining about the rain, and I totally love and need it for my wicked reflections, but enough is enough, I am longing for a sunny day as much as anybody else, so if we would have stopped her, you would not be reading this, as I would be sitting in the park with a cool drink and a smoke, lol :D

The Partial Biker Unedited shots of bikers reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday was a perfect day for shooting wicked reflections, there was loooots of rain, then loooots of sunshine and nice light, and of course looots of people on their bikes riding through the puddles, giving me a fair chance to take some nice pictures, thank you guys! Strangely enough, it seems that the bikers in the best city in the world are shedding limbs left and right, I just could not get a shot of a complete person, making me wonder if some bizarre Zombie-virus had descended upon us, resulting in Ghoulish scenarios with only parts of people steering their steel horses through the wicked streets of Amsterdam, but then I realized I was just holding the camera all wrong, lol :)

Hula Hoop Style Shots of people enjoying a Summer day in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. On the 4th of July I went to the Vondelpark to celebrate my personal Freedom, even though I'm not American, and the park was filled with people enjoying the sunshine and a lovely Summer day, it was beautiful, and everybody was having a great time. I shot some pictures to try to capture the relaxed, easy-going atmosphere, but like so often in life, you would have to be there to really appreciate it all the way, but I hope at least I can share a bit of the typical Amsterdam Summer feeling with you :)

The Awesome Nyssina Swerissen Shots of the lovely Nyssina Swerissen at the Roots Festival in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. Oh man, I just can't forget about the Roots Festival in the Oosterpark Sunday, I was hanging out with the cool Dudes&Dudettes of the Bassculture Foundation and they had such an awesome, ass-kicking line-up, I'm still shaking my hips and clapping my hands, which looks really stoopid when you're riding on a bike, but there's nothing I can do about it, it was too funky an experience for the after-shocks to leave my system any time soon...I hope! One of my favorites was the lovely Nyssina Swerissen, you might know her from the show 'The Voice of Holland', she's not just very talented, but also a great person and lovely company :)

Today I'm going to the Oosterpark for the Roots Festival, the funky folks of the Bassculture Foundation have invited me to take some pictures of the event, so I'm loading up my camera, getting my rain gear ready (gotta love Dutch Summers!), and then I'll go to the park for a massive load of awesome music, lovely people and some seriously Irie vibes, come and join us, it's gonna be great :)

I want to thank those of you who reminded me that the small, petty minds that surround me in certain situations, are something I need to stay away from as far as possible, before they infect me with their terrible way of looking at life, focusing on numbers and the greed for ever more money, instead of people and their needs. You are sad little people and you know it, you will forever be caught in your little world that consists of ignorance and fear, and I hope you make lots of money, so that at least you can lie to yourself and pretend that you are happy because you can buy more material things, hahaha :D

Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. Sometimes I forget that Amsterdam is not just the best city in the world, but also possibly the hardest, soul-crushing, mind-wrecking place in the world, I mean we've got Prostitution on a large-scale covering parts of our city center, you can buy drugs everywhere and people ride bicycles for their personal transportation needs, hard as nails I'm sure you'll agree! Since all of these despicable activities are executed in such a sweet, lovely and open manner, they become seemingly harmless and 'cool', which of course is so wrong on so many levels! When will people understand that riding a bike is a nasty way to waste your time, and nobody should be doing it, at all, ever! There, I've said it! Hahahaha :D

The Best Summer Ever Random shots of the Dutch 'Summer' as seen from my window in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. This Summer is the best ever, every day the Sun is shining as if its getting paid for it, all the happy people all over the world are spending the majority of their time lounging in swimming-pools sipping on Pina Coladas, enjoying every minute of this awesome, exceptional year to the max, never before has anybody witnessed such a perfect season, people are weeping with joy and speaking in tongues, birds fly backwards through the impeccably blue sky, Mothers name their first-born 'Summer', and there was ecstasy all around...or not! :D

It's Sunday, I'm tired and confused, had to work the late shift Friday, and yesterday an early shift, resulting in a body and mind that just don't know anymore what day or time it is...tomorrow I have to go back to work again, while I'm even too exhausted to just sit here at my PC with a coffee and stare at the Interwebs...luckily last night after work I went and spent the evening with the cool and lovely Miss A, one of those rare friends that you can always spontaneously drop in on, and just spend a wonderful couple of hours with, chit-chatting about the important things like life, love and the universe, thank you very much Miss A, everybody should have a friend like you :)
