Thursday 31/01/2013 The Puddle Peep Hole Slightly edited puddle reflections of Amsterdam. Taken with a borrowed Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some messing around with contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday I was hanging out in the Amsterdam downtown area, hunting puddles, when suddenly I noticed a peep hole into another dimension opening up right there on the Dam square...at first I was afraid, I was petrified, but then I realized that that's the beginning of the song 'I will survive' by Gloria Gaynor, and that there was no reason to worry, as this actually happens quiet regularly, little Inter-dimension openings just pop up out of nowhere, allowing us a quick glimpse into the wet water world and then they'll go 'Poof' and disappear again. Occasionally a stoned tourist will walk into them and vanish off the face of this planet, but due to the fact that their friends are most likely high as kites as well, they usually are never really sure if it actually happened, or if they've just been sampling too much of the wicked Reefer that's on offer in the best city in the world, and they just make new friends...luckily we locals know about these holes and avoid them whenever possible, lol :D Wednesday 30/01/2013 Urban Puddle Reflection Slightly edited puddle reflections of Amsterdam. Taken with a borrowed Canon 1100D. No editing besides some added contrast, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Amsterdam is a lovely city that has a lot to offer for visitors and locals alike, you can find all kinds of fun and entertainment here, and on top of that, we have the best puddles too! On days like today, where it rains and then the sun peeks through the clouds, I'm close to loosing my mind, there are so many wicked things to shoot that I just don't know where to start...I guess it's a good thing that Sony is simply not able to fix my Camera, even after 4 months of trying, lol :D Tuesday 29/01/2013 She's Passing Me By Slightly edited puddle reflections of bikers in Amsterdam. Taken with a Canon 1100D. No editing besides some added contrast, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I had to borrow a camera from a friend, as my Sony HX1 is being send back and forth between Sony and the shop where I bought it, due to some seemingly unfixable issue with the lens. I am not used to 'real' cameras, so I'm having a bit of a hard time achieving the results I'm aiming for, but I won't give up, there's got to be a way to take proper reflection pictures with equipment that was made for 'real' photographers, lol. And oh yeah, Sony, I am not too impressed with your support services, if it takes you over 4 months to offer your customers an actual solution for their issues with your products, it's called a 'Fail', not a service!!! I am reserving the right to utterly and extensively name and shame you on them Interwebs if you don't come back with a satisfactory resolution some time soon! Last warning...I have a lot of friends who wouldn't mind trashing you a bit on your own Facebook page, AND a big brother who might just come and punch you in the eye if you leave me cam-less any longer! Monday 28/01/2013 AmsterSam The Wicked Doodler Shots of doodles I did in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. It's Monday, the sun is shining, all the snow has disappeared over night and I've got nothing better to do than to share some doodles with you. I used to draw a lot before I became more interested in taking photos, but lately, inspiried by my frequent visits to the ASA gallery and the cool people I've met there in the last months, I've picked up a pen more often again and re-discovered the joy of mindless doodling on a random surface. Sometimes I think I'm full of creative juice that just needs to be released in whatever way it can squeeze itself out of my brain through my hands, lol :D Sunday 27/01/2013 The Street Light Festival Reflected Unedited water reflection pictures of the opening of the 'Street Light Festival' yesterday in Amsterdam. Taken with a borrowed Canon 1100D. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday was the opening of the 'Street Light Festival' and while there was a major snow storm raging through the streets of the best city in the world, manymany cool and creative people showed up to spend a day together with great music, lots of Light Painting by the awesome Vincent Bruno and Wen-JiƩ Yang, tons of doodling by and for the good folks of 1000 Drawings and many other inspiring, lovely and heart-warming activities. There are more pictures on my Facebook page :) Thursday 24/01/2013 AmsterSam The Wicked Reflectah Slightly edited shots of myself reflected on a car window in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. No editing besides some messing around with the contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Today is a veryveryvery important day in my life, I have finally closed a chapter that urgently needed some closing and am busybusybusy with opening new paths for myself that I'll rush down towards a muchmuchmuch better future...it could not have done this by myself, it required a lotlotlot of help from my friends and foes, manymanymany bad and good things needed to happen before it got this far and I'm superduperschmooper happy, excited, grateful and overjoyed that I've made it this far. If you are one of those people, friend or foe, who pushed my to my boundaries and made this major change happen, I would like to thank you, no matter if you were with me or against me, no shadow, no light, no pain no gain and all that...thank you, you have changed my life and I will never forget it :) Wednesday 23/01/2013 The Feeding Frenzy Shots of birds by the Amstel in Amsterdam. Taken with a Panasonic DMC-FZ8. Yesterday I went for a walk by the Amstel when suddenly I saw this old lady trip and fall into the snow, right away she was surrounded and attacked by hundreds of birds that hacked her into little tiny pieces with their sharp beaks and flew off with their greedy faces stuffed, leaving only her naked bones behind. At first I was shocked by this outburst of feeding frenzy, but then I realized that this is a very natural event, it's cold out there and birds need to eat too, sorry old lady, lol. Of course I made that story up, there was an old lady, but she threw some bread onto the ice and quickly walked away, possibly to avoid actually being eaten by the birds, she looked like an experienced bird-feeder and if she knew what she was doing :) Feeding Frenzy Movies I've also made 2 movies of the birds eating as well, watch them on my YouTube channel, thanks :) Sunday 20/01/2013 The Queen Bee The lovely Queen Bee in my living room in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. Last year I had a photoshoot with the lovely Queen Bee from Queen Bee Fashion, it was great fun and I liked the pictures so much that I figured I'll spoil you with another set, I hope you enjoy them. Don't forget to visit her Facebook page and hit that 'Like' button! Enjoy your Sunday :) Friday 18/01/2013 I AmsterSam Unedited shots of the giant 'I Amsterdam' letters at the Rijksmuseum, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. It's Friday. It's another icecold day in the best city in the world. I am looking out of my window and I see a frozen world, a world that makes me want to curl up on a fluffy rug by the fireplace (that I don't have) and drink hot chocolate, while reading a good book and playing with the cat (that I also don't have). I really think we humans need to figure out how to hibernate through the Winter season, it just seems unnatural to bike over layers of ice, even though it's fun, so I've decided to hire a bunch of mad scientist to invent a way to make it happen, all I need is the money to pay them and the equipment they'll require to come up with a solution. If you would like to support this noble cause, please send some cash, I'll make sure it gets only used to further our common goal and I promise that I'll try very hard not to spend it on fun things in the weekend, Pinkie swear, lol :D Ice amsterdam If we can't hibernate, at least I want every Winter day to look like this :) Saturday 12/01/2013 The Puddle Smile Unedited shots of the lovely Miss V, reflected in a puddle in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. As you might know, I'm a big fan of girls, in my humble opinion they are the most beautiful, adorable and inspiring better part of humanity (nothing wrong with guys, I am one myself, but we just don't have that certain je ne sais quoi :) and I could spend whole days just admiring them, too bad that it is not a paid profession to do so, I'd be a freakin' Pro, haha! The lovely Miss V was nice enough to pose for me at a wet spot in the Vondelpark while she was enjoying the warm sunshine caressing her pretty face, thank you Miss V, I feel honored and delighted to have shot you in a puddle :) Music Galore I love Portishead and I totally love this concert, in my humble opinion it is one of the best live shows ever, and thanks to the Interwebs, I can watch it over and over and over again, for free...thank you Interwebs, you rock :) Wednesday 09/01/2013 One Time Fo Ya Mind! Unedited puddle reflections of people in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. It's a rainy Wednesday and I feel like cocooning at home instead of going out there into the grayness of the day, but I've got to take care of some business, so I'll have to. To make up for this, my brain keeps playing the song 'One time fo ya Mind' by Paris over and over again, not sure why, but there you have it...this whole brainmusic thing could possibly be triggered by the fact that I've taken some shots of myself as Paris in the past, lol. Have a great day, almost weekend :) Sunday 06/01/2013 The Future Is Now! Unedited shots of people reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. 2013 is here, and for me it's going to be a really interesting, awesome and wicked year, I can feel it already! Last year was a bit of a bummer, I had to go through some challenging, irritating, annoying, inspiring, demanding and mostly messy situations to come to a point where I decided to radically change my life, to say good-bye to those things and people that kept pulling me down with them into the abyss of unwanted pressure, unnecessary stress and tons of miserable days, weeks and months, and I am majorly happy I did. I am now on my path towards a more fulfilling, independent and lovable life and while doing so, I am shielding myself from the negative vibes some people try to bring to me, like Superman shields himself from a load of Kryptonite, yeah baby :D Last Month |
