Greetings from Amsterdam Random shots of Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. It's Monday morning, yaaawwwnnnnnn...I want to stay in bed, it's coooold outside...why did I ever leave my parents house? I could be living rent-free, with laundry- and room-service, a full fridge at any given time, no worries about going to work because you don't really need any money if you don't have your own house...sounds tempting, doesn't it? But I'm sure there was a reason I moved out when I reached the minimum legal age to do so, lol. Still, sometimes it would be nice to be back @ Hotel Mum for a while, the good lazy life. Yesterday I posted some pictures (and a movie, and another movie) of the funky Flashmob on the Leidseplein (it was probably more of a public Dance-lesson than a mob, as they stayed on the square for a long time, but yeah, who knows what that's called these days :), and because everybody can take regular shots of dancing girls, I've made some wicked reflections of them in a puddle (and another movie!), to add another layer of artsiness to this event, I am the wicked Reflectah after all, hehehe. The Funky Flashmob Unedited shots of a Flashmob at the Leidseplein in Amsterdam yesterday. Taken with my Sony HX1. Yesterday I went to the city to shoot me some puddles, when I saw this group of people at the Leidseplein starting to dance. Me and 3 million other people stopped to watch the show and take some pictures, it was really a fun performance and they seemed to enjoy it at least as much as we spectators did. By now these guys and girls should be famous all over them Interwebs, because about a Trillion cameras were pointed at them...maybe they were practicing for one of those Talentshows that clog up the TV screens every night in good old Holland, or maybe they just overdosed on some illegal substance that caused them to go public while dressed like colorblind Fashion-victims from the 80s, we'll probably never know for sure, but it was a rad experience anyway, and it made for some fine viewing pleasure, so thank you guys, lol :D

Thank God It's Friday! Slightly edited shots of people in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing besides some added contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. In the last week I've tried sleeping more, because I'm always tired and the rings under my eyes are having babies, making me look like I've been punched in the face by Mike Tyson when he was still the strongest dude around, repeatedly...and it's not working! I've slept up to 8 hours a night all week long, and now I have an extra-layer of eye-rings, lol. So next week I'll try sleeping less, 5-6 hours should be enough, I hope that this will allow me to reintegrate into human society again, right now I'm closer to an owl than a person, looks-wise, hehehe. Luckily now it's weekend for me, the sun is shining, and I've got 3 lazy days ahead of me, life is swell :)

The Kids Are Alright Slightly edited shots of the lovely Miss A in my living-room in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. The youth of today is getting a lot of bad press, everybody (=old farts) thinks that they are violent, mindless, hedonistic, nihilist Internet addicts that want to spend their whole time Whatsapping with their friends, Facebooking with their family, Tweeting their every bowel movement, and excessively abusing whatever other hip apps there are to waste their waking hours with when they're not busy watching Pornmovies. This may actually be true for a small fraction of the kids these days, but there are also lots of cool ones, like the lovely Miss A, who besides being a dedicated rock-climber and future Parachutist, also accompanied me on my 2 bike trips to Germany last year, and I know I've mentioned this already many times, but how many girls do you know that can bike 200 kilometers in one day, on a bike like this one, and still smile like that? That's right, only one, and you're looking at her Daredevil'ish self at the moment :D

I've said many things (mostly nice :) about the girls of Amsterdam and their seemingly endless supply of bike-pedal-powers in the past, I think I might have also mentioned that they look hot when they're rolling by, but I haven't said much about the guys on bikes. This is due to the fact that I am suffering from a birth-defect in regards to my eyesight, I can't see guys, I only see girls wherever I go, lovely and confusing, but a manageable dysfunction, that I integrated into my life and learned to live with. Luckily at least my camera can still detect and capture the male part of the population, or you'd be seeing a little white space here, instead of the wicked reflections that are spoiling your eyes right now, lol ;-P

Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. As you might know, I love Amsterdam, and I can't even imagine living somewhere else, but sometimes, I hear this little voice in my head, saying things like "Maybe you would be even happier in another city or another country. What if there's a place that it 10 times nicer than this?". Usually I tell that voice to shut the f**k up and move on with my life, but should it ever catch me in one of those very rare moments when I am pissed off, or upset about some meaningless detail, and want to throw everything in a canal and run away...it would still not convince me to leave lovely Amsterdam, because around the next corner you'll be presented with a beautiful view like this one, and you'd have to be really retarded to go to some other place to live. Almost weekend!

It's Monday again, everybody is sloooowly getting out of bed, putting on some clothes and a brave face, hopping onto their bikes or into their cars, zig-zagging through traffic to make it to work on time, counting down the days and hours until it's weekend again and we can all get some rest from the rat-race...too negative for the start of the week?! OK, let me try again: Almost weekend, just a few measly days to go and we can again enjoy several days of doing only things we want to do, meet friends, eat delicious food and enjoy life to the max, yay! Have a good start into the new week :)

The Disappearing Miss A Slightly edited shots of the lovely Miss A in my house in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. The lovely Miss A came by for a coffee this weekend, and we discussed our next road trip that we're both eagerly awaiting, the only thing that's stopping us from hopping on our bikes right now and biking off into the sunset, is the fact that there is no sunset, because the best country in the world is experiencing "Winter" at the moment. The only other issue with these trips is, that they are highly addictive, and once you've biked several hundred kilometers, you're hooked, and your body and brain keep screaming at you "Do it again! Do it! Do it now!", because it's so much fun and it shows you the possibilities and boundaries of your physical strength, something everybody should try, you'll be amazed about all the wicked things you can do, but didn't know you can. Unfortunately for the lovely Miss A, as you can see in these pictures, her body is already disappearing, particle for particle it is floating towards the big empty road, even if her mind and the rest of her bodily structure is still in my living-room :)

I've spoiled myself again this week by taking Thursday off, together with my usual free Friday, this makes for a nice, looong weekend, giving me some time to rest&relax from all the challenges life is throwing my way, nothing spectacular, just the usual riff-raff of little issues mixed with little joys and pleasant surprises. The timing for free days is excellent too, there's some wicked wild storm blowing around the houses in the best city in the world for days now, combined with tons of rain pouring down, so I'm extra-happy that I can stay inside and watch the madness from my big living-room window, lucky me. Unfortunately I'll have to nip out later to run some errands, I hope I won't get blown away with my bike :)

The SOPA PIPA War Slightly edited shots of the lovely Miss E in my house in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. Last weekend I've met with the lovely Miss E for a coffee, and we spent the whole afternoon talking, smoking and slurping down liters of black gold and plenty of tea, it was very nice to just chill out and talk about live, as we had not seen each other for a while. I personally think that this is one of the best ways to spend your time, hang out with friends, talk, take it easy, and keep the bond alive, Friendship is one of the basic things that make everything else just so much more fun. On a somewhat unrelated note, in case you haven't heard yet, war broke out in the Interwebs, and we're all soldiers! Prepare for battle, it's on! F U SOPA, F U PIPA, and F U all you dried-out, god-loving, life-hating, party-pooping RIAA/MPAA/CIA/FBI motherf*****s :D

The Puddle Fag Unedited shots of bikers and buildings in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. One of the elements of successful puddle photography are cigarette butts, once they enter my wet spots, they change from being smelly little reminders of a nasty addiction, to artsy little artifacts that make my pictures look even more interesting, strange but true. Sometimes when I'm smoking a fag while shooting puddles, I throw it in there with the bunch when it's all smoked out, but that already makes me feel as if I am manipulating the shot, it has something to do with my puritan attitude towards taking photos and not editing them at all whenever possible, stoopid, I know, but that's how I roll :)

Menace II Society Slightly edited shots of Graffiti in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. No editing besides some added contrast and saturation. I don't usually like Tags that much, there are not many that look cool or would make me happy if I was the owner of the building they're sprayed on, as opposed to 'real' Graffiti, like this one or this one, that actually improve the house and area they're on/in, by adding some visual eye-candy to the somewhat colorless city. I think it would be really cool if the politicians, together with the owners and the finest bunch of Graffiti-artists, would create public paintings/pictures everywhere, to frolic up the appearance of the best city in the world, I'm sure this would contrast nicely with the old, beautiful buildings and make Amsterdam even prettier than it already is :) 
F U SOPA&PIPA! I was thinking about blacking out this page today as well, to share my annoyance with this whole SOPA soap-opera, but then I was too lazy, instead I took a picture of a blacked-out site and posted it on my Facebook page, here it is :)

Sometimes when I'm in the streets of the best city in the world shooting puddles, occasionally I'll stumble onto a wet spot that offers such pretty, perfect reflected views, that I can't stop taking the same pictures over and over again, and I am seriously wondering why some random part of my brain thought it would be a good idea to spend considerable parts of my spare time searching for, and hunching over dirty spots of rain water, I mean, seriously! I love the outcome, and I won't stop, but why can't I be wicked at shooting portraits, or anything else that doesn't require me to make myself look like a drunk, a fool, or a retard in public...oh well, anything for art they say, and I guess this is just my little part to chip in, at least I don't have to be naked or covered in hot chocolate or something to shoot my puddle pictures, now that would look stoopid, lol. Almost weekend :D

Too bad it's Monday again and I have to go back to work today, or I would celebrate this by spoiling myself with a lazy day, but yeah, I need the money, so I'm going to hop on my bike now and pedal to the office, counting down the hours until it's finally weekend again. I even bought a lotto ticket last weekend, to break out of the rat race by achieving a status of financial independance, but just like the last time I tried, about a month ago, I only won a free ticket, no money, and this gives me a good feeling, if I keep going, eventually this perpetuum mobile of free tickets buying me the next free ticket will eventually bring me the Jackpot for sure! It's just a question of time, but yeah, I've got more time than money, hehehe :)

Oh what a wonderful, perfect weekend this is, it started Thursday and unfortunately ends today, but I really enjoyed it to the max, I've met nice people, had great chats with friends, spend lots of time on the Interwebs and in real life having a fun time, took plenty of wicked reflection pictures, and I'm a bit sad that it's all over again tomorrow, and we all have to go back to work. Actually, I might be able to skip that, I've played the lottery but didn't check yet if I won in the drawing last night, I might be a freakin' Billionaire already and simply not know it...I'm going to have a look at their site now for the numbers, wish me luck...and if you don't hear from me anymore, I won and am now living on some tropical island, hahaha :D

Yesterday was such a perfect, lovely day for me that I almost forgot that it was Friday the 13th, I took lots of wicked reflection pictures, got plenty of things done, talked to nice people, spend some quality time biking through the best city in the world, had delicious food and watched some really nice movies. Overall a very cool day that showed me some easy-going pleasures and convinced me once again that this special day does not need to be a bad one, I even bought a lotterly ticket, just to be on the safe side, because it felt like such a lovely day, wish me luck, I need the money, lol. Have a wicked weekend :)

So if you are a Knights Templar, you should consider hiding somewhere until it is over, it does not seem to be a good day for you guys, lol: "The connection between the Friday the 13th superstition and the Knights Templar was popularized in the 2003 novel The Da Vinci Code. However, experts agree that this is a relatively recent correlation, and most likely a modern-day invention. Although according to many Freemasons, this date corresponds with the slaughtering of the Knights Templar by the Church. Many Knights Templar also escaped their persecution by fleeing to Scotland" (source: Wikipedia). I'm not sure what's worse, being persecuted, or having to flee to Scotland...sorry Scottish people, just kidding, hehe ;-)

Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. Since I am a lazy slob, I usually don't work Fridays, but in 2012 I have become even lazier and took every Thursday off this year so far as well, to make up for the Christmas vacation I didn't have, and I can tell you, I could really get used to a 3-day week, oh my. Of course it's a bit confusing to wake up on a Thursday morning, thinking it's Friday already, because I'm not at work but rather in bed, rolling over to the other side a couple more times, enjoying the last minutes of half-sleep before getting up to make the first coffee, fire up the Interwebs and check out what all my Cyberfriends have been up to while I was dreaming away...life can be so good if you let it, and that's why I'm posting the photos I've had prepared for tomorrow already today, real Friday pictures, lol. As you might know, we lurve Art here in good old Amsterdam, the city has more Museums than bikes, and one of the latest additions to our evergrowing pile of artsy places is the Hermitage, that we established in a wonderful building right by the Amstel. Of course that pretty building wasn't empty when somebody had the great idea to build a Dutch version of this Russian treat, it was an Old-folks home, full of old people that have been living there for years and years, but had to leave to make room for all the art...and I can't help but wondering how they felt about having to leave their homes and move to the outskirts of the best city in the world, just so that tourists can pretend that they're in Russia for a couple of hours. Poor old people, if I had anything to say about this, they could return to their homes tomorrow, and spend their remaining days chilling out between all the art pieces :)

Faces Of Amsterdam Random shots of Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. I just love walking through the best city in the world, snapping shots of random objects left and right, because almost anything you shoot here, will look cool, pretty, or so damn ugly that it's pretty again in your pictures, lol. In the last year or so, I've tried to use my real camera more, to be able to produce high-quality reflection pictures, and almost lost sight of my roots, the mobile phone photography, but thanks to the wickedcool (and free!) Camera360 app, I've really started enjoying using my HTC Desire a lot more in the last months. I hope you like my return to the old school ways I've started out with, I know I do :)

It seems that the Euro is finished, it's drowning in its own sorrow, and to symbolize this in an artsy way, I've shot the building of the 'Nederlandsche Bank', the Dutch National Bank, our part of the Euro-controlling European institutions, reflected in a puddle. Of course I sure hope that this will be the only time that the Bank and/or the Euro gets this wet, after all I live here, and don't want whatever is left of my life-savings to float away! Artsy, oh so artsy, lol ;-P

Things are going really bad in Amsterdam (due to the continuing financial crisis), so bad that people even steal the Garbagetrucks these days, hoping to find anything useful in the load that they can still sell on ebay, and earn some cash to make it through these rough times. Needless to say, the Garbagepeople are not amused, having to run after your stolen truck is not only a smelly thing to do, it also looks really retarded when you run through the city center in orange clothes and it's not even Queensday, lol. Of course I made this whole incident up, the guys were just running after their driver, who must have thought for a moment that his colleagues are superheros, who can fly behind the truck and he sped down the block like there's no tomorrow...or he simply didn't like the guys who he's working with, because he made them run for a loooong distance, must be fun to work with him, hehehe :)

Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. Yesterday I went downtown to shoot me some wicked reflections but had to realize that my knee is still not good enough to allow me to assume my typical 'Crouching Tiger' position by the puddles, because I'm not yet as bendy again as I usually am. So I grabbed my mobile, powered up the Camera360 app, and took some random snap shots of the best city in the world, I hope you like the result. I will go out again today and give it another try, I'm just too addicted to shooting puddles to allow a bit of pain to stop me from doing what I love...and if you feel like helping me out, you can come with me, and rub lotions and potions on my knee to speed up the healing process, thank you, hehehe :)

We had some serious rain and wind fluffing up Amsterdam in the last week, but today the sun came out and the wind is so weak that the chances of getting blown off your bike, and into a canal are minimal to none, so I'm going to grab my camera now and go downtown, to shoot some innocent civilians...in puddles of course! I took today off, and combined with my usual free Friday I am looking forward to 4 lazy days, filled with nothingness, extreme chillaxing and the least possible activity, something I really need after last year. 2011 was mostly great, but it ended somewhat confusing and disappointing, and since I didn't have any time off for Christmas, and my last vacation was in the Summer, I figured giving myself some Me-time can't hurt...I might even slip outside and shoot some puddle pictures :)

Sweet Lord Jesus Slightly edited shots of my pants. Taken with my Sony HX1. Last week Tuesday I had a bike accident, my knee was injured and bleeding profusely, but luckily I had, for the first time in my life, bought some plaster a few weeks earlier, so I stuck one on the bad spot and went back to work the next day. Unfortunately my knee started bleeding again, blood seeping through the plaster and my pants, creating some red spots that I largely ignored, until yesterday, when I wanted to put the pants into the washing machine, imagine my surprise when I noticed that the blood spots created a face, gasp! I'm not saying it's Jesus or anything, but I think there's a face clearly visible...or maybe I hit my head too in the accident, and I am simply seeing things that are not there, you tell me, lol. I've fiddled around with contrast and saturation, to make it easier to spot the face, no further editing or added Jesusness, hehehe :)

First Reflections Of 2012 Slightly edited pictures of a Metro train in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my HTC Desire. So, it's 2012 and I don't feel any different than I did in 2011, probably because I didn't have any vacation before Christmas, or at least between Xmas and New Year's, even though I could have really used some time off, and biking through an empty city to work every morning did not help in soothing the pain. To add insult to injury (my knee, ouch :), due to circumstances that made the end of last year a bit less enjoyable for me than I had expected it would be, I was not even able to take my usual free day last Friday, and now the rings under my eyes have given birth to little baby rings over the weekend. I'm already fed up with 2012 and can't wait for the Mayan prophecy to come true, lol. Of course I'm just kidding, I'm sure 2012 will be an awesome, lovely and beautiful year, and the Mayans never said the world would end this year anyway :)

I'm sure in 2012 all of our dreams, hopes and wishes will come true, it is the final year of mankind after all, so we better make something nice out of it, haha!
