I AmsterSam Unedited shots of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, reflected on ice. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing besides some added contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I went to the ice-skating rink outside the Rijksmuseum to see if there were any girls hanging out that I could shoot for my upcoming exhibition at the ABC Treehouse, the topic is 'Girls! Girls! Girls!' and I'll be showing some wicked reflection pictures of the beautiful ladies living in the best city in the world, one of them is the lovely Miss Monyart, who will be doing the exhibition together with me. We will be at the Treehouse every Saturday and Sunday in February, from 13:00-18:00, the grand opening will be on the 5th of February, you should come and visit us on any of those days :)

My Favorite Place Unedited shots of a girl and a bike at the Spuiplein in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing. I am off from work for a whole week and to give myself a head-start towards a relaxed, joyful time, I went to the city center yesterday and had a coffee at my favorite spot, the Spuiplein. I just love sitting outside the 'Coffee-Company', sipping on my 'Americano', watching the pretty local people going by on their shopping-sprees, the tourists searching for the nearest drug distribution point, the bikes rushing around, and if I'm lucky, the sun shining on all of us, making it an even better experience. Enjoy the weekend, take it easy :)) 
Don't forget, in a week from now (on Saturday February 5), my next photo exhibition at the ABC Treehouse, that I'm doing together with the lovely Miss Monyart will start! Today my vacation started, I'm off for a whole week, a pleasure I haven't been able to enjoy since early last Summer, and I can tell you, I need it, badly, I'm so freakin' tired and exhausted that I can barely keep my eyes open...luckily this day looks very sunny and lovely so far, I'm going to grab my camera later and go out for some serious puddle hunting, yay :) 
Of course I'll also be very busy with the preparations for my next photo exhibition, that I'll be doing together with the lovely Miss Monyart, it's going to start on February 5 at the ABC Treehouse and will go on until the end of the month. The expo is called 'Girls! Girls! Girls!' and features photos of the beautiful girls of the best city in the world, I hope you can come to the opening on February 5 (Saturday), bring all your friends and we'll have a nice Partay! If you can't make it, visit the Treehouse on any Saturday or Sunday in February to meet us there :)

Even though people seeing me doing my wicked puddle thing often can't figure out why I sit next to a wet spot waving my camera at it, they will still do their very best to look good in my pictures without knowing it, and I'm very grateful for this, without my puddle people, this would only be half the fun, so this is a thank you to the thousands of anonymous folks that walk through my reflection shots but never get any recognition for it, thank you all so much :)

The Pied Puddle Piper Unedited shots of a living statue on the Dam square in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. The Amsterdam children are disappearing, lured away by the sweet, sweet music of the Pied Puddle Piper, into a wicked, wet world where they have to undergo a training in posing as living statues and then get sent off to the typical touristic attractions, to spend the rest of their days entertaining the visitors to the best city in the world, for just a few coins as their reward! I was lucky enough to capture a very typical scene, the Pied Puddle Piper finding his next victim, a young, unsuspecting boy, who just wanted to give him some change, but instead ended up joining the ever-growing ranks of those unfortunate enough to fall for the empty promises of a better future, it's a sad thing, and nobody seems to be able to stop these horrible puddle creatures, lol ;-))

I remember in the late'ish 90s there was this phone booth just across the street from this puddle where you could use the Internet with a regular prepaid phone-card, a technology that was so far ahead (or behind?) the time, that it was soon abandoned again. I fondly remember inserting my card and then not knowing what to do on that Interwebs thing, I had just registered my very first email address ever (@ Hotmail, it was so brand-new and cool back then, hahaha :)) a few months prior, but none of my friends were online, so there was nothing to do and nowhere to go, but I liked the idea of 'mobile' Internet access so much that I had to smile every time I passed by that phone booth...good old times...not! Enjoy your digital day, and don't forget, this whole Flickr/Google/Facebook thing is still just a baby, and we've already become so dependent on it, I can't even imagine living a single day without it, and luckily, I don't have to...thank you for being part of this great, wicked experience :))

I totally love the Amsterdam buildings, they are so pretty and look really good (and not just) in my puddle pictures. One of the nice things about them is that I never get tired of admiring them, I often stop my bike somewhere in the street or on a bridge and just have a look around, breathing in the atmosphere, absorbing the beauty of my surroundings, enjoying the sights and sounds and then I am happy for myself that I am lucky enough to live in the best city in the world :)

So, yesterday was 'Blue Monday', the 'worst day of the year', and I have to say, I had a pretty fabulous Monday, not too much stress, many beautiful puddles all over town and in general just an easy-going, good feeling...how about you, how did you experience this mother of all horrible days?! I hope yours was fine too, and that you, like myself, didn't get influenced too much by the views and opinions of other people...trust yourself and your instincts and most of the time you'll do just fine I'd say :)

A man needs a good bike, and I happen to have the best bike in the world, the fabulous Lord Bikenheimer, a gender-confused lady bike that thinks that she's a dude, and not just any dude, but a Lord...I've tried reasoning with her, but she wouldn't accept the facts and refused to face reality, so we agreed that she gets to keep the title and can spend her days thinking that she's a manly bike. I mean, hey, this is Amsterdam, so who am I to tell a bike how to behave or to which gender group it belongs, this is still Sin city where many confusing, upsetting, interesting things happen each and every day, hahaha ;-D 
I hope you're having a wicked weekend, I am very busy working on a better future and I barely have time to eat or sleep, but that's just what I expected when I started the 'AmsterSam World Domination Plan', probably not my best idea ever, lol ;-P

Today I don't have to go to work, finally my new schedule kicked in and I am off every Friday from now on, yay!! That does not mean that I will lazily sit at home and do nothing, which is what I'd love to do, to recover from that shite year 2010, instead I am busy like a bee, working on several projects at the same time. One of them is preparing for my next photo exhibition (details below), another one is a still secret mission that should help me promote a greater goal, the 'AmsterSam World Domination Plan', and that has a deadline that ends tomorrow, so I'll have to hurry up. There are several other things going on that I can hopefully tell you about soon, but in general I think it's safe to say that 2011 will be a very good year once I'm done with all that shizzle :))

I've mentioned it last week already, I was supposed to go back to my 4-day-per-week schedule when 2011 started, which would give me some of the much-needed rest&relaxation that I so urgently require (I didn't have a Summer OR a Winter vacation, been working straight all the time since last July, boo-hoo, poor me ;) but due to circumstances, I had to work last week Friday, instead of being able to enjoy some free time. I sure hope that this week will be different and that I can finally return to my 3-day-weekend, which would allow me to focus on taking photos again and spending some quality time here on the Interwebs with all you nice people...wish me luck, thanks :))

In the last years many Coffeeshops (yes, those Coffeeshops) were shut down by the minions of City Hall because they were located too close to schools...which would imply that students under the legal age of 18 years would stop smoking weed because they'd have to walk more than 500 meters to get their hands on a nice big bag of the finest White Widow or Jack Herrer that money can buy...this might actually apply if they were stoned out of their heads already and too lazy to walk that far, lol. Since the Coffeeshop owners are very strict on checking IDs and making sure that all their visitors are above the legal age, to avoid having their shops shut down for selling to minors, this whole idea does not seem to make much sense, but considering that our Government thinks that we're all retarded kids and that they need to tell us exactly how to behave, this fits neatly into the God-fearing, right-wing book of rules and regulations we're being slapped with for years now, I guess we are all in need of a strong, guiding hand, haha ;-D

New Phone Stylez Unedited shots of a biker in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my new HTC Desire mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Just before Christmas I've changed my mobile phone Provider and got myself a new phone, the wickedcool HTC Desire. I usually always stick with SonyEricsson phones, but when I saw this one, I could not resist getting it, even if the camera and the photos it takes are of inferior quality compared to my beloved C905, it more than makes up for it in user-friendliness and an overwhelmingly wicked Internet experience. And looking at these 3 shots, I probably should not bash the camera too much, it seems to take some proper reflections pictures regardless of the shitty cam build into it, lol ;-))

I'm planning on creating a whole new set of exclusive shots for the expo, but being in the office all the time leaves me only the tiniest windows of opportunity to take any pictures at all, let alone the kind of pictures I want to show there. Luckily I still have a massive archive full of wicked shots, just in case I won't manage to take some new ones that are worth being framed and hung on the wall. Have a good start into the new week, take it easy :)

It's another gray, rainy day in the best city in the world, but I think I can see the sun peeking through the holes in the cloud cover, so I'm gonna grab my gear now and bike to the city center to see if there are any puddles worth shooting...you stay in bed and get some rest, one of us being out there getting wet is enough, lol. If you happen to live in Amsterdam, keep an eye out for a cool, bald dude muttering to himself 'Wicked' over and over again while waving his camera at watery spots, it's very likely me, try not to hit me with your bike as you pass by, thank you ;-))

Last week I was lucky enough to shoot the same red tourist bus that is featured in that picture again, reflected in a puddle while it floated by, taking visitors of the best city in the world on a round-trip to inhale all the pretty sights and sounds we have to offer to those willing to come and hang out with us. Today was supposed to be my first Friday off according to my new 4-day-week schedule but it seems that the evil year 2010 is somehow overlapping into the lovely 2011, and due to circumstances, instead of being outside, hunting puddles, I will have to bike to the office now and work, boohoo! The only good thing about this is that it'll be only half a working day and that I'll be able to go home around noon, but yeah, I was reaaaally looking forward to getting some proper sleep and to take it easy while operating in lazy-mode...maybe next week, wish me luck, thanks. When the city is full of people, I sometimes get very self-conscious while shooting my puddle pictures, it takes a lot of nerve to hunch next to a wet spot and start waving your camera at it, while hundreds of curious eyes rest on you and you can hear people asking each other 'What is he doing?!'...I guess it's a good thing that I'm looking down and don't really realize just how much of a commotion I'm causing or I'd probably get shy and had to stop my wicked activities, lol. The nice thing about shooting movies as well is that you can actually see the confused, stunned faces and hear the comments from those passing me by, wondering if they should call an ambulance, the cops or somebody with a straight-jacket, hehe :)

Welcome To Amsterdam Unedited shots of tourists in Amsterdam on their rental bikes, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This Winter was very cold and snowy, but still the best city in the world was filled to the brim with tourists biking around on those (luckily!) easily recognizable red rental bikes, looking for the best weed, the fluffiest hat with 'Amsterdam' written on it, the cheapest hotel, the sexiest hooker and all the other exciting thrills that a trip to Sin City usually promises. I always envy them a tiny bit for their fresh look on the city, but I majorly pitty them because they'll eventually have to leave again and lead their lives in some other place that is not Amsterdam...that's gotta suck, lol. If you're coming to Amsterdam in 2011, I hope you'll have a safe, fun-filled trip and maybe, if you're lucky, you'll see me hanging out next to some puddle :)

My New Years Resolution Unedited shots of myself reflected on various things in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. 2010 was a bit of a sh*t year for me, so I've set my mind to making 2011 a much better year...unlike most people, who try to quit smoking or drink less, I have decided that my only New Years resolution will be to take even wickeder reflection pictures than last year. With my new Sony HX1 camera and a bit of help from the rain gods (and those in charge of any other reflective surface), I should be able to make it happen and I'm really looking forward to blowing your mind with my 2011-style reflection shots :)) 
To make this even more fun, I will take part in a photo exhibition again next month at the ABC Treehouse, together with the lovely Miss Monyart, make sure to mark it in your calender already, it's going to start on February 5 and will go on until the end of the month, hope to see you there :)

Yesterday was the first time in months that I've actually managed to go out and take some proper reflection pictures, everything was just right, the puddles, the light, the people...it felt so good that I've spent hours and hours running from one wet spot to the next, and at the end of the day I had almost 700 pictures safely stored on my cam's memory card. Lately I was working way too much and the few hours of daylight passed by without me being able to make any use of them, so this makes me extra-happy and I am delighted to be able to share this feeling with you in the form of the puddle shots I'll upload in the days to come, I hope that you like them. As you can tell by the confused looks I got from those encountering a Madman waving a camera at a puddle, I was not the only one who enjoyed it, lol. Have a relaxed Sunday, take it easy :)

Happy New Year! Unedited shots of the New Years Eve Fireworks in Amsterdam last night. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I hope that you've had a good start into the new year and that you're not too hung over.
