Friday 28/02/2014 Dam Square Reflected Unedited puddle reflections of the Dam square in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Usually I would not go anywhere near the Dam square, it's a bit too touristic for my personal taste, but sometimes, after a rain shower, I'll drop by anyway to shoot some wicked reflections of the area, and I have to admit, it's a rather photogenic part of the best city in the world, anything for art :) Dam Reflection Video I've also made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle, please take the time to watch it on my YouTube channel, thank you Tuesday 25/02/2014 AmsterSam Photo Tours Whether you're a visitor or a local, Amsterdam offers a wealth of beautiful photo opportunities that you might miss easily because there is so much to see. Monday 24/02/2014 Enter The Wicked World Of AmsterSam Unedited shots of the Amsterdam Central Station area reflected in a puddle. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This weekend we had perfect conditions in Amsterdam for some wicked reflection shots, so I grabbed my camera and went for a little walk through the city, my eyes on the ground, trying to find that perfect wet spot to shoot...not always an easy task, because I look totally insane, pointing my camera at the ground, seemingly taking photos of the street, and as always, I got a lot of comments and questions, a situation that will probably continue until finally everybody knows who I am and what I do, which should be some time soon :) Central Station Puddle Video I've made a movie of the Central Station reflected in a puddle as well, watch it on my YouTube channel, thanks :) Saturday 22/02/2014 Last Day Of The AmsterSam Solo Expo Today, Saturday 22.02., from 6-9, I will be at the cafe 'Van de Buurt' for the official closing of my Solo Expo, you should come by as well, it's an excellent way to start your Saturday evening. I've always loved bicycles, when I was just a wee little 3 year old Reflectah-boy I learned how to ride them (and soon afterwards, how to ride them without using my hands, way cooler!), and ever since I've been moving through life on a steel horse, never had a car, and hopefully never will! Biking keeps me fit and the planet in good shape, a classic win-win situation, but unfortunately there are still people who think that locking themselves up inside a gasoline-guzzling box with wheels is the better way to get to the shop around the corner, lazy bums :) P.s. If you are in town, go and visit my Solo Expo at the cafe 'Van de Buurt' in the west of Amsterdam, it'll continue until the end of February and you can get a real 'AmsterSam' photo for as little as €3 :) Friday 14/02/2014 Happy Valentine's Day :) <3 My Secret World Unedited shots of buildings reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. If you know me, you know I lovelovelove shooting wicked reflection pictures, and when I'm out there with my cam hunting puddles, it never ceases to amaze me that I am one of the chosen few who notice this secret world living inside the wet spots in the streets...I think people need to take more time to realize what a wicked, wonderful and beautiful planet we're living on...the next time you see a puddle, think about me and take a closer look at it, you might discover a hidden world that has always been there and that you probably knew when you were a kid splashing around in the rain :) P.s. If you are in town, go and visit my Solo Expo at the cafe 'Van de Buurt' in the west of Amsterdam, it'll continue until the end of February and you can get a real 'AmsterSam' photo for as little as €3 :) Puddle movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of people at the 'I amsterdam' letters, check it out on my, YouTube channel, thanks :) Saturday 08/02/2014 By The Side Of The River Amstel Shots of bikes by the Amstel in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. The river Amstel is one of my favorite features of Amsterdam and I always enjoy going for a walk there, not just because of the water and the pretty buildings, but also because of the manymany bikes that are evenly distributed all over the place, there's just something about the steely rides that totally appeals to me...luckily, I'd hate to love cars, the most selfish, planet-killing and stupid invention ever, I mean come on, locking yourself into a metal box, burning fuel, just to get to the shop around the corner where you would have been in half the time if you'd used the bike, really, tststs, what were they thinking when they came up with cars? Probably nothing, that's what :) P.s. If you are in town, go and visit my Solo Expo at the cafe 'Van de Buurt' in the west of Amsterdam, it'll continue until the end of February and you can get a real 'AmsterSam' photo for as little as €3 :) Friday 07/02/2014 It's A Hard Knock Life Unedited puddle reflections of the jail in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Whenever I see the towers of one of the Amsterdam jails, I get this creepy feeling and I can't decide if I feel sorry for those lost souls locked up there, or if I should be happy that all them hardened criminals are off the streets and safely stored behind bars to protect society from them, or both...then again, it seems that being inside a Dutch jail is not the most horrible thing in the world, could be worse, of course I'm glad I'm a free man and don't have to be in there, no matter how 'cozy' it is :) P.s. If you are in town, go and visit my Solo Expo at the cafe 'Van de Buurt' in the west of Amsterdam, it'll continue until the end of February and you can get a real 'AmsterSam' photo for as little as €3 :) Wednesday 05/02/2014 Rollin Down The Street Smokin Indo Unedited puddle reflections of Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I have this dark suspicion that people around the world think that all we ever do in good old Amsterdam is rollin down the street smokin indo, sippin on gin and juice, and that is very far from the reality that we experience in the best city in the world every day, the only folks actually doing that are our visitors who can't believe their luck when they find out that, yes, it's OK to get high while biking around bumping into cards, pedestrians, other bikers, or if you're really unlucky, a tram or taxi, both ruthless species of transportation vehicles that stop for nobody, not even the toked-up, puffing&passing tourists, so beware, get high, but don't get too high (unless you're Snoop Motherf*cking D-O-Double-G, lol), or it might be the last thing you'll ever do :D P.s. If you are in town, go and visit my Solo Expo at the cafe 'Van de Buurt' in the west of Amsterdam, it'll continue until the end of February and you can get a real 'AmsterSam' photo for as little as €3 :) Tuesday 04/02/2014 These Sexy Times Unedited window reflections of the American Apparel shop in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Sex sells, so it only makes sense that our world is plastered with images of scantily clad people (mostly women) that try to make us consume products we don't need and that destroy the planet during their manufacturing process and after they've been disposed off to rot away in a landfill somewhere, but as long as we get to see sexiness while we're slowly killing our world, it's all good...the last thing we'll ever see will probably be some half-naked lady as the world explodes, burning one last hot image on our retinas as they shrink into our heads and our brains detonate with a final 'Boom'...could be worse :) P.s. If you are in town, go and visit my Solo Expo at the cafe 'Van de Buurt' in the west of Amsterdam, it'll continue until the end of February and you can get a real 'AmsterSam' photo for as little as €3 :) Saturday 01/02/2014 La Vie Est Belle(rose) Slighty edited window reflections of the 'Bellrose' shop in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing besides some fiddling with contrast and colors, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Life is good, or as they say in French, la langue de l'amour, 'La vie est belle', and that's true. Of course there are situations where things seem unpleasant or weird, but in general, being alive is a reason to be happy, it took Evolution/God gazillions of years/7 days to create the magnitude of unimaginable, fascinating and confusing creatures that populate this planet, and you, yes you, are the result of a trillion unexpected and rather unreasonable coincidences, encounters and actions that you could not reproduce on this scale and with the required precision in another gazillion years/7 days, no matter how hard you tried, so don't worry, be happy, enjoy the ride :) P.s. If you are in town, go and visit my Solo Expo at the cafe 'Van de Buurt' in the west of Amsterdam, it'll continue until the end of February and you can get a real 'AmsterSam' photo for as little as €3 :) Last Month Copyright 2014 © All Rights Reserved |
