Today I would like you to think about something really nice that you are looking forward to this week, like a day off, a visit from a friend or something as simple as your favorite meal, an old mental trick I sometimes use to distract myself from the fact that it's Monday, and the occasional feeling of despair and confusion this can create in my egg-shaped head. Not that there's anything wrong with this day, I kinda like Mondays, but I know that for most of us, it's the day that symbolizes everything that is wrong with society, so take a deep breath, visualize whatever makes you happy and keep it in the back of your mind for the rest of the day, you'll see that it'll make time pass much faster and you'll have a much better Monday today than you've had last week :)

Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. Every day I remind myself that I am lucky and blessed, because I live in the best city in the world, Amsterdam. I make sure to take the time each day to appreciate that I am in a place that is filled to the brim with creative, intelligent, funny and pretty people who came here from all over the planet to spend their time with like-minded folks, creating a big artificial family circle that is connected and interlinked in so many ways, involving everybody who is willing to be part of it, creating an overall vibe of artistry, community, entrepreneurship and love, and I simply can not imagine living anywhere else. I must have been a really nice guy in previous lives, to be spoiled so endlessly by the Universe :P

Oh how I love the EYE, the new Amsterdam Film Museum in the north part of the city, the building looks like it came straight out of a James Bond movie on the outside, and from the inside it offers a magnificent view of the best city in the world! I think we need more buildings in Amsterdam that look like they might house some Supervillain on the brink of destroying civilization as we know it, only to be stopped in the last minute by some Superhero who will afterwards smooch with a hot lady, haha :D

As you might know, I love taking wicked reflection pictures of the best city in the world, but sometimes I forget that other people like other things, so I try to shoot Amsterdam outside of the puddles as well, and going by the reactions I get, those photos are much easier to digest and to understand for my audience, not sure why, but there you have it. So the posts of today are dedicated to all those who appreciate a 'regular' picture of Amsterdam more than a reflection in a patch of water, you kids are alright, sorry for confusing you constantly with all my puddle play, hehe :)

Sometimes life will make you stray from the path you're trying to follow, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, we often like to believe that we are the master of our own domain and in control of what's going on, but that is an illusion, we are all the little balls in the Pinball machine of the Universe, we are being pinged and ponged around, shot into directions that seem the opposite of where we're trying to go, sometimes fighting back, kicking and screaming, trying desperately and in vain to wrestle the steering wheel out of destiny's cold hands, sometimes going with the flow and facing the inevitable with a smile on our lips...in the end we have to accept that sometimes we might end up in situations we don't like, surrounded by people who don't add anything beneficial to our journey, but it just is the way it is, nothing you can do, make the best out of it and wipe those tears of your face, it's gonna be alright, everything will be just fine and dandy :)

This weekend was very Winter'ish, lots and lots of snow, ice and cold winds, but instead of hibernating in front of the heating, like other animals do, I went outside with a camera and shot some bikers. I can tell you, they were MAD at me, biking under these conditions is hard enough as it is, what with all the ice and stuff, but having an Idiot like myself blast you out of your saddle and into a puddle is NO fun at all! I apologized to the victims of my cam-trigger happiness and helped them back on their bikes once I was done with them, screaming "Anything for art!!!" after them as they tried to hurry away as quickly as they could...tststs, when will people understand that pretty pictures on the Interwebs are at least as important as their personal well-being, haha! Have a great start into the new week, almost weekend!

Welcome Back Winter! Shots of the Winter in Amsterdam. Taken with a Panasonic DMC-FZ8. As much as we all thought and hoped that the Winter was over, and Spring is just around the corner, we keep getting snowed in, which looks very nice in my photos, but is not always the most practical situation, as we insist to continue riding our bikes, plowing across the frozen and snow-covered surfaces as if there's no tomorrow, creating pretty pictures in the process. If it gets really cold, like last year, and the canals freeze over, we exchange our bikes for ice skates and twist and turn around on the ice while drinking hot chocolate with cream...in your face Winter, haha :D

I like the HvA, the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, it's a fine school that I intend to go to later this year or next year latest. I've actually applied already in 2011 for a Bachelor program, but due to some administrative technicality, it didn't work out in the very last minute, and since then I keep thinking to myself that I need to try again, there's nothing to keep you sharp and fit in the head like studying and learning new stuff. When was the last time you've acquired new knowledge that might also enhance your chances of creating a future for yourself that is geared towards greatness, (financial) success and the peace of mind gained by knowing that you are being the best you possible? If the answer is 'A long time ago', go and check out the options your local or online schools and universities have to offer, sometimes you can even study exciting stuff for free, neat, isn't it? :)

I am known for taking wicked reflection pictures, but sometimes even I get bored with them, so I try to shoot something very different to keep things interesting. The outcome is often pleasing and inspires me to look further for alternative objects to hunt down with my camera, but as soon as I pass by a puddle in the street, I can't walk away without at least capturing some of the wicked views on display, a miserable affliction that just won't leave me alone...could be worse I guess, rain is one of the freely available resources that we have in abundance here in good old Amsterdam, lol. Last night it started to snow again in Amsterdam and this morning the sun is shining, creating a beautiful scenario of whiteness bathing in lovely rays of light, and if I wasn't so lazy, I would be outside right now, making a snowman and taking pictures. I think I'll just have one more coffee and then I'll go outside to play...maybe just one more cigarette too...and then one last coffee and a smoke, but then I'll go, really...OK, maybe just one more ciggie...and then I'll reallyreally go, I promise...unless I'll need another coffee first, haha! Enjoy the snow, enjoy the sunshine, enjoy your day, it's almost weekend again!

It's Monday again and the vicious cycle called 'Work Week' has started for most of us, making us do the craziest things, like getting up before the sun even rises to rush towards office buildings, factories, the windows in the Red Light, or whatever it is that we have to do to make a so called living. This is a undesirable system that I don't support any longer, so I am going to turn around in my bed one more time, hug my pillow and think about all the wicked, awesome and beautiful things that will surely come my way this week. I know that this is a luxury situation, being able to just chill out until the week has lost its rough and rugged edge and ambles towards the weekend again, but that's just how I roll, pleasure comes always before duty, wicked, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles in AmsterSam country, hahah! Have a great start into the week, take care, take it easy, almost weekend :)

This week has been very eventful, at least for those of us who follow the developments around the Dutch Royal family, on Monday our Queen Beatrix informed the country that she's sick&tired of being the Queen (she used nicer words though :) and that from April on, her son Willem-Alexander will take over as our King. On Thursday it was the 75th Birthday of Beatrix and we also fondly remember the 200th anniversary of the Dutch Monarchy, overall a pretty royal week if you ask me. Of course I want to do my share to further the good cause (if you can call a Monarchy that, but I'm just a sucker for Queensday, so yeah, call me a Royalist, lol :), so I went out and shot some puddle pictures of the statue of our former Queen Wilhelmina that chills out at the Rokin. At your Service your Majesty :)
