Friday 30/04/2010 Queen For One Day Slightly edited shots of the lovely Miss Monyart in her special Queensday shirt. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. The lovely Miss Monyart is wearing her special Edition AmsterSam Queensday shirt and she's loving it :)) Last year the city of Amsterdam purchased one of my photos from the previous Queensday, to use it to promote the 2009 event (that, as you might remember, ended in a deadly tragedy that resulted in the best party in the world being canceled) and caused an International scandal in the process that forced me to hide my face from the Interwebs in eternal shame ...this year it's raining and the sky over the best country in the world is gray and sad...they say the sun will come out around noon, wish us luck, we don't want to have the biggest party in the world messed up again...I'm even wearing my special Edition AmsterS@m Queensday shirt to support the good cause :) Thursday 29/04/2010 Good Morning Amsterdam Unedited shots of my balcony in Amsterdam in the morning. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I've been off since last week Thursday and I'm having a beautiful time, the sun is shining every day and I am biking around with music in my ears, taking photos, chilling out by the canals, bumping into friends in the streets and just majorly enjoying my free time...so much even that I've asked for an extension of my vacation by another week, but unfortunately I didn't get it...tomorrow is Queensday, come to the best city in the world and party with us :)) Good Morning Amsterdam Movies I shot some wicked movies of the sunrise over Amsterdam, a must-see, watch them on my YouTube page! Wednesday 28/04/2010 The Hidden World Slightly edited shots of garden houses, reflected in a little stream in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. If you have ever been to Amsterdam, you've very likely only seen the concrete urban inner city areas while Amsterdam has large green parts that often go unexplored, and I don't mean the good old Vondelpark...luckily for you, I've lately devoted some time to these lovely places that you might have missed out on and documented them with pictures and movies that enable a view at the hidden Amsterdam that only locals know, love and appreciate...you know how they say, sharing is caring :) The Hidden World Movies I've shot some wicked movies at this place too, check them out on my YouTube page! Tuesday 27/04/2010 Spring In Amsterdam Slightly edited shots of people enjoying the springy sunshine in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some messing around with contrast and saturation. Amsterdam is experiencing a sweet wave of sunny, nice weather and everybody is making the most of it, the canals are full of boats, the girls are half-naked and the beer is cold...the good life! I could have not chosen a better time to take some days off from work and to top of it all, this Friday we'll celebrate the Queensday again, so the peak of my week is still coming up :) Spring Movies I took some movies to capture the Spring spirit in the best city in the world, watch them on my YouTube page! Monday 26/04/2010 Monyart Exhibition Slightly edited shots of the opening of the photo exhibition of the lovely Miss Monyart at the Flamework shop in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some messing around with contrast and saturation. Yesterday the first photo exhibition of the lovely Miss Monyart opened at the Flamework shop in the Runstraat in the Jordaan. There were trillions of nice, cool, lovely people and we all enjoyed the photography, jewelry, drinks and excellent food while trying to avoid getting hit by the cars and bikes passing by in the narrow street :) Monyart Exhibition Movies I've made some movies as well of the opening, check them out on my YouTube page :) Queensday Shirts A must-have item for Queensday this week Friday, the new shirts in the AmsterS@m Shop :)) Sunday 25/04/2010 Monyart Exhibition Unedited shots of the lovely Miss Monyart, hanging out at the Flamework shop in Amsterdam where her photo exhibition starts today. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing. Today the first photo exhibition of the lovely Miss Monyart will open at the Flamework shop in the Runstraat in the Jordaan. The artist will be present from 4-8, so make sure to pass by and meet this talented young lady in person..here is a link to Google Maps with the location of the shop :)) "Portraits of (extra)ordinary women and their personal interpretation of Flamework jewelry." Queensday Shirts A must-have item for Queensday next week, the new shirts in the AmsterS@m Shop :)) Saturday 24/04/2010 Natural Mystic Unedited shots of trees in the Westerpark in Amsterdam, reflected in a pond. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Today feels like a good day, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and I've got no obligations for the next week, besides rolling and strolling through the best city in the world on my bike, taking photos, watching the pretty girls and making a general mockery of the 9-5 mentality that still too many people in this lovely city/country/world adhere to...work is not what life is about, it's about fun, friendship and freedom :) Natural Mystic Movie I've shot a rather wicked movie of this reflection too, but this time it's not the swans or the ducks that cause an interesting effect, make sure to check it out on my YouTube page! Monyart Exhibition Tomorrow, Sunday the 25th of April, the lovely Miss Monyart opens her very first photo exhibition at the brandnew, supercool 'Flamework' store in the Runstraat in Amsterdam. If you want to meet Monyart and Daniela Malaica, the creator of the Flamework jewellery, in person, come to the shop between 4 and 8 tomorrow...the exhibition lasts from 25 April to 25 May, make sure to pass by and check it out :) "Portraits of (extra)ordinary women and their personal interpretation of Flamework jewelry." The Madness Continues... "Satirical animated TV show "South Park" beeped out the words Prophet Muhammad and plastered its Wednesday episode with the word "CENSORED" after being issued a grim warning by a U.S. Muslim group. The irreverent comedy show on Comedy Central also substituted a controversial image seen last week of the Prophet Muhammad in a bear outfit with one of Santa Claus in the same costume. It was not immediately clear if the move was a bid to tread carefully following the warning against the "South Park" creators, or if they were poking fun at the fuss. The little-known group RevolutionMuslim.com posted a message on its website earlier this week warning creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker "that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show." Image 'borrowed' from http://social.happytreefriends.com! Queensday Shirts A must-have item for Queensday next week, the new shirts in the AmsterS@m Shop :)) Friday 23/04/2010 Sunshine Unedited shot of typical houses, reflected in a canal in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. We have not had any rain in the best city in the world for a while now so the puddles are getting a bit rare, but that does not stop me from finding wicked reflections and sharing them here with you for your viewing pleasure...thank God it's Friday, the sun is shining, I'm off for 10 days and it's just one more week until Queensday, yay! Have a great day, do only things you want to do today :-D Sunshine Movie I've shot a movie of this reflection too, check it out on my YouTube page! Guru RIP The great Guru is dead... Queensday Shirts A must-have item for Queensday next week, the new shirts in the AmsterS@m Shop :)) Thursday 22/04/2010 Touch My Heart Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of Me&Mobie, reflected on the window of a gallery in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing besides some fiddling with contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I really like this shot (even though it's a bit blurry and does not meet my usual quality standards!) because it looks like the lady in the painting is reaching into my chest and fondly holding my heart...I imagine that in real life this would not be the most desirable state of being and probably rather uncomfortable, having somebody else's hand stuck in your bosom, but in this case I gladly made an exception and embraced the pain...anything for art, haha ;-D Queensday Shirts Don't have a nice outfit for next weeks Queensday yet? Check out the new shirts in the AmsterS@m Shop :)) Monyart Exhibition This week Sunday, the 25th of April, the lovely Miss Monyart opens her very first photo exhibition at the brandnew, supercool 'Flamework' store in the Runstraat in Amsterdam. If you want to meet Monyart and Daniela Malaica, the creator of the Flamework jewellery, in person, come to the shop between 4 and 8 on the opening day...the exhibition lasts from 25 April to 25 May, make sure to pass by and check it out :) "Portraits of (extra)ordinary women and their personal interpretation of Flamework jewelry." Wednesday 21/04/2010 AmsterS@m Summer Cyborg Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of Me&Mobie, reflected on the side window of a car in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing besides some fiddling with contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Since last week we've had some delicious weather in the best country in the world, very stable for an April and lots and lots of sunshine...I can't wait to wear my short pants, it's still a bit windy, but I think I'll give it a go in the next days...have a great day, may many good things happen to you today! Queensday Shirts Still looking for a cool shirt for the upcoming Queensday? Check out the new stuff in the AmsterS@m Shop :)) Tuesday 20/04/2010 AmsterS@m Enlightenment Slightly edited shot of myself, reflected on a lamp in a nice shop in the Jordaan in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Last weekend I was again hanging out at a a friend's shop in the Jordaan, and the lovely Miss Monyart (who, by the way, will have her very first photo exhibition in that same friend's shop as of this week Sunday until May 25...come this Sunday between 4-8 and meet her in person!) made me aware of this wicked lamp reflection (thanks again girl :)), so I asked the shop owner if I could shoot myself in the lamp, he thought I was crazy but let me do it anyway, afterwards I showed him this shot and he was almost as excited about it as I was :) Monday 19/04/2010 Police = Reflection Killers! Unedited shot of typical houses, reflected in a canal in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Last week I was peacefully standing by the side of the Singel canal, shooting some wicked movies, when I was rudely interrupted by the Police steering their boat through my reflection...first I was thinking about throwing some of the crippled, rusty bike carcasses sitting by the side of each street in Amsterdam at them, but then I realized that they added a pretty cool effect to the film that I liked so much, that I quickly biked to the next bridge to shoot it again...check it out on my YouTube page! Have a good start into the new week! Police = Reflection Killers Movies These are the cool Police movies, more on my YouTube page! New Photo Page I have redesigned the page with my photos, I hope you like the new version! Sunday 18/04/2010 Monyart Exhibition Next week Sunday, the 25th of April, the lovely Miss Monyart opens her very first photo exhibition at the brandnew, supercool 'Flamework' store in the Runstraat in Amsterdam. If you want to meet Monyart and Daniela Malaica, the creator of the Flamework jewellery, in person, come to the shop between 4 and 8 on the opening day...the exhibition lasts from 25 April to 25 May, make sure to pass by and check it out :) "Portraits of (extra)ordinary women and their personal interpretation of Flamework jewelry." Here Comes The Summer! Unedited shots of bikers, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. The last week has been lovely with tons of sunshine and manymany happy faces and short skirts populating the streets of the best city in the world...now we're all gearing up for&looking forward to Queensday, the best Party in the World, if you can, come and visit us for that wicked weekend of outdoor fun with a couple hundred of thousands drunk, happy, stoned strangers :)) Summer Movie I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube page! Saturday 17/04/2010 Life In Amsterdam The Cloud Slightly edited shot of a swan floating in the Amstel in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. It's here! The big cloud of volcanic ashes that Iceland was nice enough to cover Europe with this week has finally arrived in the best city in the world and is causing hilarious scenes in the streets, bikers crashing into each other in the thick fog, their rides exploding, killing millions of innocent bystanders, planes colliding in mid-air, tumbling down in a death-spiral onto the smitten heads of us poor Amsterdammers, birds attempting to eat tourists, bikes rusting prematurely...it's horrible! Personally I think they caused this eruption on purpose, so that we'll forget that they still owe us a couple billion euros...those wicked Vikings ;-)) Life In Amsterdam The Caring King Slightly edited shot of the King of Amsterdam on his bike, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. Bow down, it's the King of Amsterdam on his daily royal inspection round of the best city in the world! You might not know this, but secretly we have our very own king and he's not related to the official Dutch Royal Family in any way...he's just this regular guy (he doesn't even wear shoes, that's how much he wants to show us that he's one of us!) who spends his time biking around all day long, making sure that everybody is having a good time, that the bicycles, women and children are safe from mischievous souls and that the pigeons don't eat too many tourists that dare feeding them by having them sit all over their visiting, delicious bodies...what a guy, all Hail to the Caring King :D Life In Amsterdam Postcard Panorama Slightly edited shots of the river Amstel in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. Even though I live in the best city in the world, I never get enough of the pretty sights and sounds that surround me every day...biking around with music in my ear and the sun shining on my egg-shaped head, I viciously enjoy the moment and try to be as aware and alive as possible to suck in every second of pleasure and make it last as long as possible...I seriously don't know how anybody who's ever been in Amsterdam on a sunny day could leave this lovely city...I mean, I know you've got lifes back home with friends and jobs and all that, but seriously! I'm so glad that I never have to leave (unless I go on one of my Pan-European bike trips :) and can enjoy the 'Amsterdam XXXperience' every freakin' day of the year, yay :))) Life In Amsterdam Scream Slightly edited shot of a doomed biker in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. This poor lady, she was biking right into the cloud of volcanic ashes that Iceland has distributed to western Europe this week and because she was going so fast, she could not stop anymore and disappeared into the scary fog with one last scream of terror on her lips, never to be seen again...be careful out there! Life In Amsterdam We Are Family Slightly edited shot of local people on their bikes, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. If you have ever been to the best city in the world, you'll know that we do almost everything on our bikes...we travel on them, we eat, we drink coffee, we smoke...sometimes we even make love on them and give birth to the occasional bike-baby, like the one you see in this picture...those bike-babies usually get born directly into the tiny extra-seat attached to most bikes and spend their first years firmly attached to it, only to learn how to walk and survive in non-bike situations many years later...and that is why the King of Amsterdam spends so much time rolling through Amsterdam, watching over them, ensuring their safety and correct tire-pressure :)) Life In Amsterdam Movies I've also made some new black&white movies of a typical day in the best city in the world that you can enjoy on my YouTube page :) Friday 16/04/2010 Jenny From The Block Unedited shots of Jennifer Lopez hanging out at 'Madame Tussauds' in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. As you might know, Jennifer Lopez went from Rags to Riches and has claimed ever since that she's still the same old regular girl from the block that has not changed in any way...and that's very true, except for the gold and diamond crust she's had her self covered with after she made her first billion dollars! I was very surprised to just bump into her on a beautiful sunny morning in Amsterdam, so I shot her and she was really cool and down-to-earth about it...if only her Security people would not have thrown Bikey and me into the street and the path of an oncoming tram, I'd probably have been even more delighted about this unexpected encounter, haha. Thank God it's Friday! Good Morning Amsterdam I did not make a movie of Jenny, as there are already enough of those, instead I'd like to share a moment of peacefulness with you that I witnessed in the best city in the world yesterday morning, watch it on my YouTube page! AmsterS@m The Sleeveface Do you remember the 'Sleeveface' hype from a couple of years ago? People would hold album covers up to their faces and take a picture...I learned back then that I am a freakin' Master of Sleeveshots, I took a whole series with the self-timer of my cam and 2 of those shots were picked up and published in a book by the good folks of the 'Sleeveface' website...here are the highlights :) Thursday 15/04/2010 Hot Rod Slightly edited shot of a wicked bike in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. I've posted a b/w shot of this bike already last weekend, but I felt that it did not do this Hot Rod justice, so here's a color version...I would not want to have to navigate the narrow alleys of Amsterdam on it, but it sure looks cool! I hope Bikey doesn't read this or I'll be in trouble and I might just have another 'accident' one of these days, haha ;-P Life In Amsterdam Color Movie Last weekend I was hanging out at a friend's shop in the Jordaan to take some candid shots, I also ended up shooting tons of black&white movies of a typical day in the best city in the world that you can view on my YouTube page! If you prefer color movies, here's a new one, just for you :) Wednesday 14/04/2010 Crazy Legs Unedited shot of the corner of the Spuiplein, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Do you know 'Crazy Legs'? He's this B-boy from the 'Rock Steady Crew', an 80's Breakdance group that had one big hit, 'Hey You' and then nobody (in Europe) heard from them anymore...until, yes, until I discovered this chair you see on top of the other chairs, doing some wicked moves, crazy-legs style...I was close to throwing my small change in his general direction when I had to realize it wasn't him, no matter how much I wished for it, it was just a stoopid chair...oh well, at least it's almost weekend now :)) Reflections Of Amsterdam Tuesday 13/04/2010 Happy Faces Unedited shot of the corner of the Spuiplein, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Somewhere in this picture there are 2 happy faces hidden...if you find them, you'll win happiness for the whole day for yourself :) Forgotten Unedited shot of the corner of the Spuiplein, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I don't know why, but this picture makes me feel like I found a tiny piece of Amsterdam that has been forgotten by everybody else...maybe I need a vacation or something :) Forgotten The Movie I've shot a reflection movie in the same puddle, view it on my YouTube page :) The People Of Amsterdam Monday 12/04/2010 Jane Doe Unedited shot of a lady walking towards me, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I am pretty sure that the people that walk through my puddle pictures have no idea that their faces are often clearly visible in the reflections and their surprised/annoyed/confused expressions forever captured in my wicked water world pictures...if only the knew, they might brush their hair, put on some make-up and assume the correct angle to ensure a proper display of their chocolate side in my photos. Have a good start into the new week! Magna Plaza Unedited shot of the Magna Plaza, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I keep taking puddle pictures of the Magna Plaza and I never get tired of it, that building was just made to be reflected in a wet spot! Strangely enough, I've only been inside the building itself twice or so :) Magna Plaza Movie I've shot a reflection movie in this puddle as well, watch it on my YouTube page :) Reflections Of Amsterdam Sunday 11/04/2010 Life In Amsterdam Slightly edited shots of people in the Jordaan in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. The Jordaan is one of the oldest, most popular parts of Amsterdam, there are billions of tiny shops, galleries, bars and restaurants that together form one giant Women-trap...once they've entered the '9 Straatjes' (9 streets), they can not leave without having spent their last euro on clothes, jewelery, make-up and delicious food :) Life In Amsterdam Movies Yesterday I was hanging out at a friend's shop in the area to take some candid shots, I also ended up shooting tons of movies of a typical day in the best city in the world that you can view on my YouTube page! Bikes Bikes Bikes! Saturday 10/04/2010 Still The Best! Slightly edited shot of the 'Westerpark' sign in the (obviously :) Westerpark in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This photo is dedicated to Oostra for always making the best city in the world look cool and funky! He took a really nice shot of this sign some weeks ago and every time I saw it since then, I had to think about his photo...when I noticed last week that the letters had been vandalized (Job Cohen, our former Mayor&Amsterdam hater, making a point?!) I took this picture and decided to upload it here and dedicate it to him...thanks for the inspiration dude! P.s. What's up with all that letter-hooliganism in Amsterdam lately?! Have a wonderful weekend! Stoopid Is Back! Slightly edited shot of a stoopid bee in a glass, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I am not sure why this is, but every year when it gets warm, insects fly into my living room through the wide open balcony door and then they'll spend hours and hours bumping against the big window, trying to find their way out again but never manage, and every year I am wondering how they survived Evolution this long if they act so stoopidly and obviously can't even manage the simplest survival tasks...I mean, seriously, how can bees/wasps/hornets run a whole state and live their organized, sophisticated (for insects!) lives, yet they can't find a 2x1 meter hole that's right in their hairy, yellow faces?! Since I'm a nice guy, I usually catch them with a glass, take some photos to shame them and set them free on my balcony :) Stoopid Is Back The Video! To really make this insect feel stoopid, I've filmed it too, watch it on my YouTube page! The Rainmaker Slightly edited shot of a window-cleaner in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. If you were ever wondering why it's raining so much in Amsterdam, here's the reason why: We have these men in the best city in the world that will come to your house regularly, pretending to clean your windows while standing on giant wooden ladders, but in reality they repeatedly poke their heads into the clouds hovering above us until they shed their wet load on top of us poor people passing by on our bikes...Nobody knows why they do it, and many of us have tried to stop them by biking against their ladders, trying to tip them into the canals and drown them like they deserve it, but they usually just float away, signaling their disgust with our simple-minded attempts at restoring the natural oder in our hometown by making demeaning, intimidating hand gestures at us...I'm not sure how much longer I can take this madness, maybe I'll move to the Desert, where they have no rain or windows ;-D AmsterS@m The Hero Swedish people know it already, now it's time for the rest of the world to realize that I am not just a wicked Reflectah, but also a Hero, haha ;-D Friday 09/04/2010 Westerpark Wonderland Unedited shots of the Westerpark in Amsterdam, reflected in water. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday the sun came out around noon and made the day even better than it already was...the parks and cafes were packed with happy, pretty people and everybody looked so relaxed and smiley, it was beautiful. The Westerpark is ideal to hang out with your friends, maybe have a BBQ and drinks and watch the other lazy folks chill out. Thank God it's Friday! Westerpark Wonderland Videos I've also made 2 new reflection movies in the park, view them on my YouTube page :) Thursday 08/04/2010 Waterworld Unedited shot of a garden house in Amsterdam, reflected in water. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Even though the Netherlands are/used to be the most densely populated country in Europe/the World (depending on who you ask :), we still have the occasional calm, pretty, green patch that seems almost forgotten by all the other people usually stepping on each others toes, and we wicked urban warriors can just take a deep breath, stare into the sun and forget for a moment that we'll bump into 450939573827 other guys the moment we turn away from these little beautiful places and peaceful rest breaks...enjoy every moments to the max, be aware of what's around you and don't take anything for granted :) Take it easy... Just for Two Doited Photogs, I've shot a little movie here as well, view it on my YouTube page :) Wednesday 07/04/2010 Contact Unedited shot of a lady on the Dam square in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Sometimes I see the people passing by looking at me in the puddle and their expression is always the same, a healthy mix of curiosity, fear and the childish urge to jump into the water and have fun together with this wicked Reflectah. If you see me do my wicked thing somewhere in the best city in the world, come and talk to me, I won't bite you...unless I'm really hungry ;-D The Beehive I've shot a new reflection movie of the same puddle, check it out on my YouTube page! Tuesday 06/04/2010 Red Flash Slightly edited shot of a tourist biker, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I hope you've had a nice Easter Weekend! Now it's time to get back to work, but luckily just for a few days and then it's weekend again...I'm already very much looking forward to it :) Red Flash Video Of course I've made a new wicked reflection movie of this puddle, watch it out on my YouTube page! Simply use the voucher code “HELLOSUN” when you check out. Just 2 more days! Water Unedited shot of people on the Rokin in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. The weather is currently ideal for my wicked reflection shots, lots of rain, lots of sunshine, the occasional hail-storm...perfect! This only applies to my pictures and movies though, from a personal, human point of view I am overwhelmed and appalled by the weather and I demand an immediate change for the better! And it seems that this worked, it's a beautiful, sunny day in the best city in the world, I'm going out to shoot me some puddles in a minute :)) You might be wondering, did I shoot a movie of the same puddle as well? Yes, I did, watch it on my YouTube page! Allard Pierson Unedited shot of a lady and her bike outside the Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I like the Allard Pierson Museum, it looks pretty and monumental, at least from the outside...living in Amsterdam means you never have to say sorry for not knowing any of those places from the inside that people come from all over the planet to see...we live here, we pay taxes to keep all these pretty things open&running for our visitors, so the last thing we want to do is to go and spend our rare spare time looking at paintings and sculptures, being in the best city in the world is like being in an open-air museum all the time anyway :) Since I like that building so much, I shot a puddle movie of it too, check it out on my YouTube page! The Amsterdam Alliance It is about time that the young, creative and pretty people of Amsterdam wrestle the control out of the old, wrinkly hands of those in charge and make this world a better place, one city at a time! To make this happen, I have started the 'Amsterdam Alliance' on Facebook, join us and help to send the Babyboomers to their not-so-well-earned Retirement! Do it, do it now, do it, it's for a better, brighter future :)) Sunday 04/04/2010 AmsterS@m Reloaded Welcome to the new Amstersam.com. As you might have noticed, I have rebuild the structure of the site and fiddled around with the design. There are currently many exciting things happening behind the scenes of the worlds wickedest Website and in the weeks to come more and more of these changes will be revealed. For today I'd like to invite you to browse through the new online Portfolio, check out Stuff page (where I've hidden the News, Links and Games that used to have their own entry on the menu to the left...good old times ;), read the Blog and find out more about AmsterS@m on the About page. I hope you like the new setup :) I've decided to celebrate all these changes for the better by shooting a new wicked reflection movie in the same puddle, watch it on my YouTube page! Happy Easter AmsterS@m wishes everybody everywhere a very Happy Easter time, enjoy :) Munt Thee Sarah from www.muntthee.com posted a nice feature about my wicked reflections on her site...thank you Sarah (and thank you Marta, for introducing her to my work!) :) Spring Discount 3 More Days! Finally, it's Spring, yay! To celebrate, here's a special offer for the AmsterS@m Shop: from 22 March to 7 April 2010 you'll get 10% discount with a minimum order value of 20 euros. Simply use the voucher code “HELLOSUN” when you check out :)) The Future Is Bright Unedited shot of bikers close to the Damrak in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This week I have implemented some important changes and improvements to the 'AmsterS@m World Domination Plan'...it's too early to talk about it, but you can expect great things to happen soon on this website...the Future is bright and beautiful :) I could not stop myself from shooting some new wicked reflection movies in this puddle as well, watch them on my YouTube page! Have a nice, relaxed, long Easter Weekend! Unfocused UUnedited shot of a biker on the Blauwbrug in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I totally heart the Blauwbrug, it's so pretty and it connects 2 of my favorite squares in the best city in the world, the Rembrandtplein and the Waterlooplein with each other. I think when I'm done here, I will bike to the bridge and just chill out on one of the benches there for a while :) I've made a new wicked reflection movie in this puddle as well, watch it on my YouTube page! Crazy Crow Unedited shot of a crow attacking a great heron on a roof top in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. Sometimes I think even the animals in Amsterdam are a bit retarded...these crows are truly wicked, they attack whatever other animal comes in the area, cats, other birds and people too...I've seen them swarm and eventually carry away one my neighbors, who was unlucky enough to get too close to them, to their nest where they ate him and spat up only the bare bones as the sole reminder of this tragedy...(almost) true story! Thursday 01/04/2010 It's The End Of The World!!! "In shock news, it has emerged that recent record-breaking increases in particle ring energy achieved at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) - the most powerful atomsmasher ever assembled by the human race - have caused a hyperdimensional portal leading to an inhabited parallel universe to open up deep beneath Switzerland, in what may be the opening move of a cross-continuum invasion campaign. A secret international task force of special-forces troops is said to be assembling at the Collider to deal with a 'response' from the fifth dimension to a hyperdimensional energy discharge emitted from the LHC." Run for your life! Image 'borrowed' from http://www.theregister.co.uk! Spring Discount Finally, it's Spring, yay! Sometimes I think even the animals in Amsterdam are a bit retarded...yesterday I saw these ducks fighting in a real life-and-death situation (or at least it seemed that way, maybe they were making out and it just looked like they tried to kill each other!) over a duck girl. She was standing by the road with this other dude duck, watching the 2 fighters duking it out and I can tell you, it was no pleasant sight! This kid tried to separate them but they would not listen, so I tried myself, first talking to them in my most serious voice, then I yelled at them and finally tried pushing my bikes front tire between them but one of them jumped up, headbutted me (just kidding!) and continued beating the crap out of the other one. Of course I've made a movie of the whole nasty situation as well, watch it out on my YouTube page :)) Fight Duck Video Here is the movie of the crazy fight ducks, many more wicked movies on my YouTube page! Cat On The Hot Tin Roof Unedited shot of cat getting ready to get its furry ass kicked by crows on a roof top in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. Sometimes I think the animals in Amsterdam are a bit retarded...this cat keeps walking around on the roof while it knows that the crows living in the area will attack it in vicious ways. I've seen this happen many times, the crows will swarm the cat, pick its tail and fly just inches over its head, probably trying to force it over the edge of the roof and towards certain loss of at least one of its lives. Did I shoot a video of the crows attacking the cat? Naturally! You can see it on my YouTube page :)) Cat&Crow Video This is the video of the crows doing a fly-by while the cat it hanging out on the roof, more on my YouTube page! Last Month |
